I LOVE this place. The blonde ale is my favorite. Their beers are typically higher in alcohol % than your run of the mill light beer so not something you'd want to be chugging all day. They do not serve food but typically have a food truck parked outside (I always stalk their Facebook page to see which truck is serving). And a number of local restaurants will deliver to the brewery. Wonderful, family friendly atmosphere with a large patio area featuring a nice green space with corn hole boards and bocce ball. Always have a great time here! It gets crowded sometimes, but the staff works their magic and keeps it moving. The entertainment is usually great, and the atmosphere is family friendly. Good selection of beers at this newer place....spacious and fresh beer to choose from and unique. They have Belgian wheat (witbier) and others including porter and IPA's. Mother Stewart's is a great local brewery located in Springfield, Ohio. They have some solid beer for being open for only a year. I highly recommend the witbier, Belgian blonde Ale, & the golden ale. The taproom is spacious with lots of seating as well as plenty of outdoor seating in the warmer months. The building is full of character as it was once housed a tool manufacturing company. You won't be bored or hungry here as they have food trucks & live bands scheduled about every day they are open. The brewer is a perfectionist & it shows with the quality of the beer. I usually prefer smaller breweries, but we stopped at Mother Stewart's after visiting Yellow Springs and really liked this place! There is a food truck court, so plenty of food choices. There is a good, large outside seating area, so our dog was really happy! The inside was pretty large too, with plenty of seating, and a great atmosphere. Great new craft brewery in downtown Springfield. I can't wait to see how downtown benefits from having this place here. If you've ever been to any of the Stone brewing bistros in San Diego, this place is similar in some ways - reclaimed building (the former Metallic Casket Company) and you can see the exposed beams floors inside, open-air doors, nice grassy area for games and sitting outside. Getting there and parking are a little odd since it's between two one-way streets and there's not an easy place to turn around, but I'm sure that will change in the coming months. Brews are limited for now, but are tasty. I'm not a fan of hoppy beers, but I actually liked the IPA and American Pale Ale (brewed with fewer hops on purpose, I'm told). The Belgian is tasty and not too strong, and the Kristalweisen was light and fresh, perfect for a hot day. The bartenders are friendly and welcoming, there's ample seating (indoor and out), and food trucks rotating on open days. The website boasts a "child-friendly" atmosphere which is important for me, so I'm hoping they will add a changing table in the women's restroom (perhaps there is one in the men's but I'm not optimistic) and I did not see any high chairs or boosters, which would add to the "child-friendliness." Still, no one batted an eye at the young families with little ones that walked in, which is a plus. I'm looking forward to see what else comes from Mother Stewarts, especially as we get into fall and winter brew season! read more

Best place in Springfield by far. Plenty of games, TVs for sporting events and lots of room. Bocce ball, corn hole and several other games are complimentary. Service is friendly. Beer is OK, but not bad. When the weather is nice they have a great patio. Wow, are these guys doing an amazing job handling their business during this crazy Covid time. During shut down, we visited weekly for carry out beer. The quality of the product stayed high and the cleaning and safety precautions were fantastic. Now that they are open for indoor service, the beers are still excellent and the safety precautions and cleanliness are still impeccable. Not only are all employees wearing masks properly, they are constantly cleaning surfaces. When you purchase beverages not on tap....in cans, the cans are actually sanitized right in front of you. Indoor and outdoor seating is spaced 6 feet apart. This business is on point. There is a reason that Mothers has become such an important, positive part of the Springfield community. Can't wait until the events can start up again. Get in there, get some beer and support these good folks who are doing it right. read more

Their downfall, however, is that for a brewery, they're a little TOO accommodating to children. It's not uncommon to see unsupervised kids in the play area while the parents sit inside at the bar. I loved this brewery - the beer was good, especially the Wit and Bock - they were open at noon on Saturday, and already open with 15+ people there at noon, which is great! Made plans to meet friends in the middle of Cincinnati and Columbus at Mother Stewart's. Arrived soon after they opened to find ample indoor and outdoor seating. Such a spacious venue in a very cool building. Tried several beers; the Wheat and Hazy IPA were delicious. They offered Coke products with free refills which was nice for the kids. A one-of-a-kind brewery in downtown Springfield. This is something that you don't expect to exist in this town. A great atmosphere that is family-friendly and family-owned. It is a large welcoming atmosphere with repurposed materials from the original building and artwork from local artisans. The beer is fantastic! A massive outdoor space with bocce ball court, corn hole, and a large grassy area for people to enjoy. Plenty of seating inside and out and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I can't say enough about Mother Stewart. What a fantastic space. It's light (even when it's dark out!), it's spacious, and it's incredibly comfortable. The beer is pretty good. I've had the porter, and it's quite good. I'm really excited about what this is doing for Springfield. The atmosphere is great, especially on a Saturday night. I would definitely say that the beer is mostly just alright, the IPA was great but nothing particularly stood out to me. I do love everything else about this place though. I love what it stands for, I feel like in Springfield places like this represent a revival and thats why so many people clamor over it. We love the way Mother Stewart's looks! The outside as you enter is very aesthetically pleasing and the inside is just as amazing. It is very clean, modern, and well kept. I love all the wood working and the stage. The brewery/taproom is HUGE!! The restrooms remind me of a high school restroom, with a lot of toilet paper on the floor and extremely sticky. They don't seem have a lot of beer choices (five or six) and a majority of them seem to be IPA's or porters, neither of which I am a huge fan of. Which to each their own, but I would have appreciated a variety of beers though. None the less we tried a flight of four. The bar was easily accessible but the bartenders were less than friendly. We weren't greeted promptly and almost ignored. I am huge for customer service, especially coming to some place new. No suggestions were recommended, a menu was slid across the bar, while we were stared at make our choices. We took our flight and decided to explore outdoors. The patio is very nice and clean, tons of seating. We enjoyed playing corn hole and the weather was beautiful. The atmosphere was great, the beer was mediocre, and the service was down right lousy. read more

The Loftis brothers, John and Kevin, have created the go-to place in Springfield, OH. What they have done is create a place that not only provides choice beer for the masses but brings folks from all walks of life to gather to have a pleasant time hoisting a pint and enjoying a relaxing moment or two. They have various food trucks that provide awesome and variety of food and any kind of music your little heart desires. This winter they proposed having a Farmer's Market at the brewery and to say that it was a hit would be a gross understatement. There was a packed house every Saturday for 3 months. It was definitely the place to be on a Saturday morning. The market ended at 2 p.m. but every Saturday that I left the bar area was packed with families enjoying themselves...one Saturday there was a group having a baby shower!!!
