The escargot, the soup the shnitzel all delicious. This place is 2 and a half hour away from where we live but it is worth it. Would love to come back.

This was one of the most disappointing dining experiences…read more I ordered the rice and shrimp dish, and for $36, I expected much better quality. The rice was severely undercooked, and although the menu advertised tiger shrimp, the shrimp served were much smaller than the tiger shrimp I've had at other restaurants. The portion and quality simply didn't justify the price. The service was even more disappointing. We were a party of 17, and it felt like our table was an inconvenience. I personally asked for water three separate times and still never received it. No one at the table had their glasses refilled. There was little to no initiative to check on our table, refill drinks, or make sure we had what we needed. Instead, it felt like our server was rushing us through the meal. I understand that serving a large party can be challenging, but if one server wasn't comfortable handling a group of this size, they should have asked for assistance from other staff. Large parties deserve attentive service just like any other table. Overall, the combination of overpriced, underwhelming food and poor service made for a very disappointing experience. Unfortunately, I wouldn't return or recommend this restaurant based on this visit.

BLUF: good food and friendly, prompt service. Large group…read moreof us went on a Friday night. The place was pretty full. For appetizers we got the loaded nachos, which are really good and made with a lighter, flakier tortilla chip than most are used to. The menu is a lot slimmer than many restaurants, but there is something there for most everyone. I had a Salmon Strawberry salad, which I highly recommend and which all who tried it recommend. It's big, so be ready for it. As a side I got risotto, which didn't taste bad, but was more like cheesy rice, not risotto. If you've had good risotto you know what I mean. The burgers were very popular, and the mango bourbon pork chop was very tasty. Crab cake sandwich was okay, but like all too many crab cakes I've had in the past, heavy on bread and light on good size crab chunks. They serve their drinks in plastic disposable cups, which is one thing I hate in any restaurant that is above Chipotle or similar level. The cups spill more easily, and frankly it's just not as pleasant a drinking experience. Probably doesn't bother others as much as it does me, but so be it. The server was very friendlym patient and knowledgable.

When being seated I address the girl about having celiac disease and needing gluten free. They told…read moreme they provided a gluten free roll for their burgers and sandwiches and to ask if it's gluten free if I had another option I'd like to try. So I did I asked them about their mango bourbon pork chop. They told me it was gluten free and they could do a side of gluten free flat fries. It was all so good. So good and best food I've had since celiac I was very skeptical if it was truly gluten free. We left around 9pm and I was still feeling fine. Around 1 am it hit I woke up in the middle of the night projectile puking and could not stop till it was all out. This was very crucial as I'm also pregnant and it could have harmed baby. So far as this morning I'm feeling fine and baby moving around. But I was really hoping I wouldn't get sick because I would have enjoyed going back but having a reaction first visit knocks it off my places to eat. I would recommend for anyone who doesn't have celiac disease or gluten intolerance though because it was amazing food.

Visited Shula's for the first time. It is a very nice restaurant specializing in fresh seafood…read more It's a nice place for a date night, birthday or anniversary. Service was excellent. Food came out at just the right pace between courses. Ambience was only "ok"... I did notice that things looked a bit worn. And one thing that bothered me was that there were ceiling tiles that were badly water stained and sagging... nothing active, but it was very unsightly. Given that they are very easy to replace, leaving them there just made the place feel less "special evening" ambience to more like "a diner" which is a shame for a place i expected to be more classy. As for the food we had lots of positives to say. We tried the crab bisque appetizer which was thick and creamy with just the right amount of seasoning and crab meat. The portion for a first course was generous. We also got the steamed mussels in a white wine and garlic sauce. The mussels were cooked perfectly. They were plump, tender and flavorful the sauce was delicious. Be sure to ask for extra bread to soak up some of the broth and juices. The side salads were likewise generous portions, fresh and crisp. Very happy! The main courses come with just one side. I got the fried seafood platter with hushpuppies and my wife got the stuffed flounder with onion rings. The fried platter came with flounder, shrimp and oysters, with tartar sauce and cocktail sauce. All were coated in a lightly seasoned breading that was crisp. Not overly thick. The hushpuppies, which other reviewers said were outstanding, I found to be on the sweet side. Crisp, yes, but overall just ok...I prefer mine more savory than sweet. The stuffed flounder was also very well done. Delicious. The flounder was cooked just right. Flaky and moist. The onion rings were thick cut, beer batter dipped. They were hot and crisp and the portion like everything else here was generous. In the end we did need a box to bring some of our entrees home. We left very satisfied. So I was pretty satisfied with the food and the service. Now if they could just do something to get the dining room as upscale as the food and service this would be an outstanding dining experience... thus only four stars instead of five.
