Heaping with luscious tuna, crispy lettuce and a sharp slice of cheddar. Heavenly! But, as good as that tuna sandwich was - as always - it is the professional, perfectionist, friendly and hard working people who run this place that actually keep me coming back. They are good at what they do, nothing more, nothing less. And they do it all with a smile! I will be back, of course, to the Firehouse Deli because it's at the top of its game. But I will also be back because the woman at the counter treats me so well. Bravo to the Firehouse Deli!!!!

I think the sub could've greatly benefitted from having a house sauce paired with it to make up for the meat's lack of flavorful juices that you would come to expect from a typical Philly. - The seasoned fries were solid, they get the job done. - The fajita melt was solid and the chipotle sauce on it highly elevated the experience. I'm going to need more of that Chipotle sauce, please. - Now I'm more of a hot sub guy over a cold sub guy so I'm testing the waters with the Italian sub. Luckily, the Italian sub is a solid option. It's made very well and the bread is fluffy. Overall, I'd best describe this spot as simple, basic food that's executed very well. If you're in the area, I'd definitely recommend a stop for a quick lunch or quick snack.

The Italian sub was good, but it was crying out for a little lettuce and tomato. I know that they offer the sub with a green sauce, but I found the taste of the sauce oily and too parsley heavy. We ordered a hot porchetta sub, cold cut sub, and homemade pappardelle with pesto cream sauce. The owner helped us choose a "soft" sub roll for the porchetta and a "hard" Italian baguette for the cold cut sub. The food was all very tasty and felt like we traveled to a simpler time where ingredients shine for themselves. The porchetta was tender and flavorful, and together with the soft roll, kind of reminded me of a Taiwanese gua bao or Cantonese charsiu bao. It was incredible and smelled so delicious! The cold cut sub was simple and well balanced, and good with the harder baguette. Lastly, the handmade pappardelle was delightfully chewy and reminded me of Chinese hand pulled noodles. Didn't expect to have such parallels with Chinese food- and I enjoyed reflecting on how different cultures can come to have similar tastes and values.
