When I arrived, there were already people lined up along the edge, quietly focused on searching for a glowing line that moved like a worm. Parents had brought their children, making it an all ages event. The sight was captivating as the fireworms swarmed near the surface of the water for a few seconds before diving back in. It is said that these creatures rise from the seabed during specific moon phases to spawn at the surface, creating an unforgettable display.

The construction over by Orlena Ave is a big bummer, as it prevents us from completing the trail loop. We just walk from Appian Way up the lagoon crossway, north on the path until we hit 6th St., then turn around. From there, one could take a left on 6th St., then a right on Federation Drive to extend the walk, but it's still not a loop. Regardless, it is a nice area and the view of the water along the path is a peaceful sight. The sandy beach of the lagoon has always been populated with lively children and teens in the water when we've gone, so that spot in particular is not so peaceful. Also, if you're taking your dog, we've seen a man twice with three huge, off-leash dogs on the corner of 6th St. and Monrovia Ave that take over that whole grassy area, so beware of that. Otherwise, there's sometimes a group doing yoga there.

Majestic trees give off lots of shade. We were there for my grandsons 1st bday party and were surprised by the boat show in the evening! Shoutout to Lifeguard Conner!!! Update in their policy does…read morenot allow half dome tent looking shades. I even checked Yelp and their website before coming but didn't realize this and that was the only thing I brought! I was coming alone with my little kid so needed to keep the baggage to minimum... The lifeguards approached me to tell me the new policy at which point I was getting sad that we had no shade, after circling 20 min around for parking etc, getting a little tired. They apparently have shades for borrowing but they run out early on a summer day like this and one guard said they are certainly all out since the morning. (It was past noon). But Conner went above and beyond to go double check anyways, found and brought one back, with a shovel. Which was too heavy for me to do anything with, but he picked it up like a fork and shoveled away the sand, and expertly set up the beach umbrella. Thank you thank you thank you, Conner, you totally saved our day!! Lots of space for little ones to play, wide shallow area, ok and safe for kid and adults who can't swim. We stayed all afternoon and my kid had a total blast. The only thing is, you better have some kind of shade, and hew, with the kindness of one of the staff, we did!

The beach itself is I guess one of the better beaches in SoCal for bonfires, but idk...I can't find myself to fall in love with the beaches here. The beach I found was still pretty dirty in comparison to others I've been to (outside of SoCal, I know it's an unfair judgment). I went in the morning of a Sunday in January and was able to park for free on Ocean Boulevard. Then it is a beautiful short, walk down a slope and some stairs and then you've reached paradise. It's a small beach, so hopefully as long as it's not too busy you'll be able to get a spot on the sand. I saw a lot of snorkel, which were cool and the tide pools are just crazy Impressive. Just make sure you don't actually touch or take anything in the tide pool or I will be coming after you...

It's part of the aquarium of the pacific just along the harbor. There's a parking lot that's part of it but the payment situations was a bit of a mess. Paying with credit card on the machine was a hit or miss. Which i also found out from someone else there. It's probably easy just to do it from your phone. It's a decent size parking lot but there's also parking at the structure just next to the aquarium. It's a cute rolling hill park that looks out to both the queen mary, shoreline village and the harbor. Depending on what side you are. It's a cute little walk around with the lighthouse on top. There's benches scattered throughout the park for seating. There's even a little beach like path along the harbor. Regardless which side you are, the view is quite beautiful. There's also fishing that you could do on the pier. You'll see people about and about walking, picnicking, walking with their dogs or a stroll. Long Beach has its hidden gems and this place was one of them.

Quieter, green grass (it'd be nice to bring a book here) away from the hustle and bustle. And the views are hard to beat, the Lighthouse, the shore with boats and Queen Mary in the near distance. Bring a snack, a drink, take a nice break here, a cool walk to explore the Shoreline Park. Always enjoyable!
