We made reservations here for our 23rd wedding anniversary. Since moving to the area we have eaten at several nearby places and were anxious to get, not bar food. The building is wonderful & full of historic charm, I can imagine it's magical by the fireplace in winter. I ordered the pink Prozac cocktail it was delicious. My husband decided to splurge & get the beef Wellington as did our friend. The wait staff asked "is med rare ok" and it came well done. They brought a new one out and it was med well, he ate it. The gravy tasted exactly like French onion soup which was unexpectedly strong & salty for the dish. My friend's baked potato was also returned for being cold. The Salmon on my salad was tasty. Came here for the first time for a book club. Was really craving French onion soup and it may have been the best I've had in the area! Also got the Buffalo platter (beef on weck, 4 wings and added onion rings) everything was delicious! Had to end with a dessert- all looked good. I love when restaurants have a dessert platter to see your options. Decided on the coconut cream pie . I will definitely be back! Went here on a Wednesday evening to celebrate my birthday and for a very cold Buffalo weeknight, the place was hopping! We started with a cocktail - the special Red Velvet Martini. It was exquisite! Looked as good as it tasted! Next up was the stuffed banana pepper dip with soft pita pieces. Had just enough spice and not overly cheesy. My meal was the baked haddock with rice pilaf and coleslaw. The fish was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I was definitely a member of the clean plate club that night! Eagle House always manages to deliver! read more

Perhaps not surprised but definitely happy! It was one of those wintery days and I wanted a warm cozy lunch to regain focus on the day. So, like thousands of diners have done for more than a century I went to The Eagle House. The Eagle House has remained the standard bearer amongst Village of Williamsville dining locations for my entire life time (Let's just say I am more than a few years past 50.). Friends frequently will say 'let's meet at The Eagle House but it's also perfect for a romantic meal or just for your singular escapes. This visit did not disappoint! The historic wooden atmosphere wrapped me up and then the greeting was just as warm and comforting. My soup was excellent and I made the spoonfuls linger. Our lunches were good and satisfying! We lingered ... I reminisced and surprise surprise soon a former school mate appeared with his wife for lunch. The Eagle House is just that sort of community treasure. read more

My husband loves the Welsh rarebit at the Eagle house. When we are in town we go at least once! We went this week and he had the Rarebit and he loved it. I had a pasta dish and it was ok. It did not have as much flavour as I would like. Others had shrimp and sandwiches and everyone was happy with their food. The service was good. The ambiance is a little old school. Dark, lots of wood but feels very comfortable. We will be back. read more

I started with French onion soup, which was very good but a little in the very sweet side that seemed different. I had a beef Wellington, which was very good. The steak was medium, rare perfectly the pastry wrapped around it. I think could've been done. Just a little touch more. When we called to make a reservation, we asked if we could have a table by the fireplace, and were told yes. Well, the table was a table of 4 away from the fireplace, so we could neither see it nor enjoy its warmth. A bit noisy b/c they were so busy on a nasty winter evening, and the lighting is very dim which made it difficult to read the menus. Companion had special of steak tacos, which were good. i had haddock casino, which I'd never seen before: baked with "casino-style topping of toasted bread crumbs, garlic, sweet bell peppers, onion & bacon". Unfortunately, the fish was all but mushy and there was no hint of garlic or onion or bacon. It comes with one side, either starch or veggie. there was no choice of veggie, just asparagus, which i ordered and was also overcooked. the wine pours seemed on the small side. We asked about desserts at the start of our order, which was around 6 PM. the dessert of the day was already sold out! So, had dessert from their dessert tray: a slice of an absolutely decadent chocolate something! the best part of the evening, other than the time spent with a dear friend. I would like to tell you about the Best experience I have had in a long time. First, Eagle House was not our original reservation, but my husband decided that he wanted to go here for Valentine's Day (2 days early, but we wanted to beat the rush)! So I quickly cancelled our original reservation and called the Eagle House, they got us in right away. Next challenge, parking, so we pulled into the small parking lot behind the restaurant. A very nice gentleman flagged us down, I immediately thought that he was going to inform me that there were no parking spots, but instead he offered us his Reserved spot. He had no idea who we were, but was gracious enough to offer us his spot. What he didn't know was that my husband is blind, and I was going to drop him off and get him set up at the bar, while I drove around and found a spot. I went inside and confirmed with the hostess that I was okay to park there, and she informed me that it was the owner and he was going home for the evening. That was just the start of one of the best experiences I have had, the host seated us almost immediately even though our reservation wasn't for another hour, our waiter was fantastic and the food was really top notch! What an Experience! I have never left a review like this, but I couldn't have asked for a better Valentine's Day w the man I have spent 39 years of my life with! Thank you Eagle House! What a beautiful restaurant from the 1800's. The decor is warm and inviting. Friendly staff throughout the restaurant. So many delicious choices on the menu from burgers, sandwiches, chicken, fish, steaks. We had The appetizer pretzel with warebit sauce and loaded baked potato skins, they were delicious. The French onion soup was absolutely amazing and spring mix salad. We ordered Chicken codon blue, 1/2 baked chicken, open faced hot turkey sandwich, baked haddock casino, beef Wellington (not a fan of the pan sauce) and the sides mashed potatoes, rice pilaf, were so good . The chicken pot pie is a scam give you a puff pastry and stew says nothing about it not being a pie. I expect an actual pie and I practically got a chicken stew with a pastry. The wife & I made a reservation for Friday nite & were greeted by the Host & seated right away. We were seated in a booth & the first thing i noticed, utensils were on the table with NO napkins (My wife didn't notice until our food arrived). The waitress came over & dropped of numerous menus. She asked what would we like to drink, I asked if the served Sam Adams as I didn't see it on the draft menu, she said no that all the draft beers were local (Which was totally wrong, I mean Ithaca Brewing, Troegs Brewing... are NOWHERE close to Buffalo). We both opted for water. Next we decide on what to order & placed it. My wife ordered French Onion soup without the bread top (Gluten issue) as her entree, I ordered a cup of Corn Chowder & a Cajun Fish dinner with fries as my potato (I assumed it also can with slaw). 10 minutes later the French Onion & Fish arrived. I never got the chowder!!! that's when my wife notice i never got my soup + NO napkins on the table. I told don't say anything as I'm tired of correcting dining issues with the wait staff. Her soup was very good but my fish was luke warm & by time i ate the last pieces it was cold. The 26 french fries were crispy but come on 26 !!! And no slaw !!! ($17.00). Needless to say we ate & asked for the check. $28 and change (My soup was NOT on the bill, she just forgot to put it in) for a not good experience. I did NOT leave a tip, I'm big on tipping about the service received not because it's expected. I did stop at the Host stand & voiced my issues to which the host wanted to give me a GC. Haven't been here in years. With all this cold weather , and a long overdue dinner w a friend, eagle house sounded perfect. She offered it as one of our " choices" ( so many places to choose from) and I was happy to say yes. There's a lot in the back, but I found street parking right in front. The outside is welcoming, representing its historic charm and the inside offers up the same vibe. I had called ahead before and asked for a reservation at 4:30 and asked if we could sit by the fireplace. The young man who answered was very friendly and accommodating and told me he would make it happen. Upon entering, I saw my friend sitting very close to the fireplace right next to a window with a great view of Main St., Williamsville. The fireplace was warming and the whole place gave off a nice cozy vibe. I was looking forward to this. So far so good. The menu had many choices. I don't eat red meat, but I do eat chicken and there were many things for me to choose from ranging from salads to sandwiches to entrées. They all looked interesting and it was nice to have choices. The server was very friendly checked on us frequently. We started with a glass of wine and the artichoke appetizer which my friend told me she often has is a main course on her own with bread to dip on the side. They were presented in a nice hot iron skillet, breaded and a nice crisp lemon oil sauce with warm bread on the side. My friend ordered the fish fry, and I hard time deciding what I was going to choose. Was leaning towards the chicken pot pie, but it was served with a puff pastry crust, so I decided instead on the Open faced turkey sandwich. Something about it sounded really good. For one of my sides I chose mashed potatoes, I was kind of surprised that that didn't come along as part of the platter. Just a few small notes. For a place that looks so historic and the ambience inside is lovely, it was thrown off a bit by the condiments being served in small plastic takeout containers. Tartar sauce on the fish, coleslaw for the fish, cranberry sauce for my platter, all served in tiny plastic takeout with lids. I was not a fan of that. My friend enjoyed her fish. It was a large piece and it looked well done. My dish on the other hand, not so much. The initial appearance of it looked like nursing home or hospital food. White bread, white chicken, white potatoes, white turkey gravy. Bleehhh. The gravy was thick and the dish wasn't really hot either so that didn't help. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good. And what topped it off was the large piece of kale as a garnish. I should have ordered the chicken pot pie. I would give it one more try and go with a different option. The bar was packed with people who moved over to dine so they are doing something right. read more

Great service and tasty food. No matter when you come here you will get a good meal. They had seasonal drinks that were fun to try. They have options for appetizers that will appeal to everyone. The stuffed peppers were extremely spicy but had good flavor. The shrimp cocktail was huge. The Welsh rabbit was so cheesy and good on toast. They had enchilada pizza on special and that was phenomenal. The fish fry was huge I could barely finish it. the chicken cordon blue was great with the mashed potatoes. The best beef on wick! The meat was so tender!! The wick bun has to be made in house it's that good. Onion rings are amazing!! My son had what he thought was going to be a regular burger which was ordered WELL DONE! I only say that because how can a burger still be good when you ask for well done!?? Well it was!! Where to even begin, our server Lilly was so sweet and attentive. My husband and I went here for the first time on a whim, the ambiance is gorgeous, the attention to detail in the decor really wowed my senses. I had the open face roast beef with gravy, apple sauce and fries. The roast beef was so tender and the gravy delicious. If you love a good beer battered fry, this place has got ya covered ! My husband had the brunch burger, 1/2 a lb of beautifully seasoned beef, applewood smoke bacon and a sunny side up egg. Served with beer battered onion rings. Delicious 5/5. I can only review my recent visit because I haven't actually eaten at the Eagle House in many years. We stopped by during Williamsville Old Home Days to see a band that we enjoy. The back patio area was set up for the show and there was a small bar available offering shot and drink specials. That was a very appreciated added touch to our night. $4 shots of Jameson, Deep Eddy, Tequila and Jack Fire, I believe. We also had a couple of beers from the main bar because there was a larger variety there. Service was great and the band was fun. We will try the food next time we come! read more

Let me just start off about how much I absolutely loved the food. I highly recommend the french onion soup it wasn't too salty and had so much delicious cheese. I also want to recommend the beef Wellington. The pastry was light, buttery and delicious. Highly recommend both of these items. This meal I am recommending is very filling though. So I hope you are hungry! The service was great too! The food came at a reasonable pace and again was totally delicious. The waiter we had was not only quick but also very nice. The overall vibe of the restaurant was very pleasant. The bathrooms were a bit hard to find but the kind staff will tell you where they are. I really loved this place and would totally come again. My friends I came here thanks to winning a gift card last year, unfortunately we selected a night when Old Homes Day was going on so parking was crazy. There where for of us for dinner and we were seated in front room, across from the bar. Although we were so near the bar, it was not overwhelming in volume. I selected two appetizers for my meal, the pulled pork stuffed corn bread and the stuffed pepper dip. One of my friends had a halibut special, and the others ordered a salad with grilled chicken and vegetarian pasta. All of our food tasted good, and our service was great. My vote for the best french onion soup in the area. The roast beef on weck is delicious too. Beef is tender and juicy and served on a crusty roll that holds up well. Parking is a little tough to find nearby and the small lot in the rear requires a lot of stairs to get up to the restaurant level. It is worth the effort to park as food and service is consistently excellent. It's especially cozy on a cool fall or winter day. read more

Just went here today for a girl's night with my bestie. It was pretty busy so we were sat on the patio which I didn't mind since it was a nice night. Our waitress was fantastic, came to take drink and food orders promptly and very friendly. Me and my friend both got fish- she had cucumber salmon and I had haddock casino. We both really enjoyed our food. I had a baked potato for a side that was cooked well. Overall we were very happy and price wasn't too high either- under $100 for two entrees and four drinks. Was tempted to rate 5 stars but I typically only do that for food and/or service that really has that wow factor. This fell slightly short of wow but I will be back again and will recommend it to others. read more

I can't believe I haven't reviewed Eagle House until today. This has been one of my favorite restaurants for years, and I've enjoyed many good meals here, including several New Years dinners. In our most recent visit, we enjoyed a dinner on the patio, where we split the o'ring rarebit, and I had the banana pepper chicken with a side of mashed potatoes and a bowl of French onion soup. It was A LOT of food and the soup and rarebit were so filling that I ended up taking home most of my entree! Service was great and so was the food and the atmosphere. I hope to enjoy another dinner on their patio again this summer. read more

My mom and I usually make dinner for Easter, and decided to check out this establishment. The restaurant itself has been a staple for Williamsville for many years, and was recently helped out by Bar Stools. The restaurant itself is fairly larger then anticipated with two different set of stairs to get upstairs seating. The atmosphere was comfortable, we were seated in the both area and do to covid there was only one other table used. The server was prompt, excellent and didn't rush us bringing out any of are meal. We both ordered two different meals, and each were cooked flawless with taste, portion size and flavor. Apparently I never reviewed Eagle House before which is strange. I'll start with today's visit then give thoughts on previous. All would be 5 star if done individually. Today we started with the o'rings and rarebit. Highly recommend it and we get it every time we go. Got the scallops piccata which was a special. I'd had the chicken piccata in the past which was good and the scallop version was too. In general Eagle House is a great place to go for a nicer dinner, but not everything in expensive. Beer wine and cocktail lists always have a good variety. Every meal I've ever had has been great. Love the beef wellington, chicken piccata, and the chicken pot pie. The pot pie comes out as a thick flaky puff pastry that the pot pie filling is poured over. We like coming here for an early (5 or 6PM) New Years eve dinner, great way to start the night before going to someone's house for he ball drop. read more
