Once again, very pleased with the Fieldstone country Inn on Transit Rd in Lockport. The soup and salad bar brings us in. It comes included with all of the dinner entrees although my wife just got the soup and salad bar by itself today. Today they had three soups to choose from, seafood bisque, and beef lentil at the main salad bar and a creamy mushroom Florentine soup and beef lentil at the rear salad bar. They were five of us and all of us were very pleased. The back patio is lovely, but it was already filled when we got there so we sat at a regular seat which was very nice. One of the people at my table got a brussels sprouts salad which he liked very much. The service was excellent as always even though the place is packed. We made reservations for 6 o'clock, arrived at 5:40 and we were seated at 6 o'clock. They run a pretty tight ship at the Fieldstone so arriving at the time of your reservation is an efficient way to go. The desserts here are magnificent. They bring a tray around that is simply awesome and you can also see the desserts in a display case at the front entrance. The portions here are generous so you may want to box up the rest of your dinner to leave room for dessert. The strawberry lemonade is squeezed on premises and is delicious. read more

First, the good: It's a neat, old fashioned type establishment that doesn't have TVs on everywhere you look. That was so refreshing!! It felt like we stepped into the 70s when we walked in. The waitress was friendly and tried hard to do a good job. The bad: The furniture in the waiting area is rather uncomfortable. It's a lumpy seat that needs to be updated or replaced. It's been sat on so.many times that it's practically screaming to be put out to the old, worn-out couch pasture. The ugly: Food was unremarkable. It was not horrible, but it wasn't amazing either. I got stuffed potato skins, and they were nothing special. The potatoes were small, dry and just had some cheese thrown on them and then tossed in the microwave. There was no butter, sour cream, nor were there any garnishes like green onion or parsley. I did not finish them or take them home. My dining partner had the fish fry, which he was not overly excited about. He ate most of it because he was famished. He later said that he did not like it. We both agreed the salad bar was a big flop. It was limited on ingredients and did not taste particularly fresh. Again, it wasn't awful, just not terrific. Overall, the ambiance is nice. The wait staff are friendly and helpful and the fare is mediocre. read more

Yummy food, good atmosphere, ok service. My family visited for dinner. A soup and salad bar was included with an entree. The two soups were chicken noodle and loaded potato. The salad bar had several options such as iceberg lettuce, mixed greens, beets, egg, onions, olives and more!* I don't remember what everyone else ordered but their orders were accurate and they enjoyed their food. I ordered a special, crab stuffed trout with a baked potato. When I received my order it was crab stuffed shrimp with a sweet potato. I told the waitress and she just said, "oh". She had no idea she had gotten my order completely wrong. She took it away and placed the correct order. My brother suggested I make certain she knew the potato should be regular and not sweet and good thing I did or that would have been wrong again. Just about when everyone else was done eating, my correct food was received. It was really good! I did not receive a "sorry" for the incorrect order or any other compensation. Also, the trout rang up 22.99 when the specials board had it listed as 21.99. Despite my messed up order & pack of great customer service, I would visit again because the food was good and a sour/salad bar is hard to come by! *Unfortunately, I don't have any more pictures to share since I smashed my phone between visiting Fieldstone and writing this review. read more

Came to the fielddtone and was greeted by the host who seated us. The ambiance is an old wood house effect and is absolutely amazing. The waitress name is Tina. She was pleasant and brought bread to the table the soup and salad bar was stocked and delicious the bread was good and homemade. For the appetizer I had the coconut crusted chicken and it was amazing and the fruit on the chicken with the sauce man oh man the chicken breast was nice and juicy. For the entree I ordered fettuccine Alfredo with grilled chicken breast and broccoli. When I tell you the portions were big and very delicious. We started with the soup and salad bar which had everything you need to make a yummy salad! There are actually 2 salad bars with 4 total soups so make sure you check the one not closest to you for 2 different soup choices! The artichoke dip was fantastic. We did not care for the chips they came with, a little oily, but our waitress brought us some more fresh bread to dip it and OMG fantastic!!!! The burgers were really good! The avocado was generous. We ordered water with lemon and were told we'd be charged for the lemon. I know things are getting more expensive, but that's ridiculous. Also, with the dinner we were given a choice of potato. Tried this place for the first time this week. It was really good! We tried the jumbo coconut shrimp and the prime rib sandwich. Both were really good. Liked the fries here a lot. Every dinner comes with the soup and salad bar which is nice. Tried the New England clam chowder and it was delicious. They also give every table fresh bread. I'd like to come back and maybe try a steak or some other menu items. The ambiance is really cozy. An old time favorite that has lasted throughout the years which is decorated very nicely for the winter holidays. It still offers an unlimited soup and salad bar with dinner entrees and nightly specials. There are 2 soup offerings along with 2 different choices of lettuce ( a spring mix and an iceberg ).and several toppings. The roast beef sandwich was good; with a salty Kimmelweck roll. The all you can eat steak and shrimp was hit and miss.The steak had an unpleasant taste , but the shrimp was tasty. We noticed four other tables all had to get a-1 steak sauce for their steak dinners too. The meat was tender , but the flavor was off, possibly from a marinade. We did enjoy the soup and salad along with the crusty Italian bread basket that was served to the table. They also have great dessert options. There is a large parking lot , but it is dimly lit . There are multiple bathrooms in different parts of the restaurant. They do take reservations.and have a long bar in the main central part of the building. On another occasion we did enjoy the French onion soup. We enjoyed our evening and the staff was friendly and attentive. I love this place . Fieldstone has been around for many moons , but I have just recently discovered it . My better half just loves the old school steak and potato type establishments and this was her choice . This is the type of old school restaurant that is perfect for family . The music overhead was nice when we could hear it during quiet moments - mostly 1970s light rock . The atmosphere was " country cozy " . Our server was friendly and attentive , though I would recommend a little less of the " honey , sweetie etc" when addressing older patrons , but that is just my opinion . The food . I had a humongous Cobb salad that I could have split four ways - it was perfect . My partner and mother got the 7oz filet and though it looked small they both said it was delicious . The salad was good , croutons seemed to be homemade . The bread offered was quite good as well and the soups were amazing . I also tried the raspberry balsamic salmon and it was heavenly - I will definitely order this again - seared salmon with feta , fresh raspberries , mandarin oranges and topped with a somewhat thick raspberry balsamic glaze -yum ! We decided to try dessert and once again - amazing . I had the orange creamsicle cake and it was divine , but all of the desserts looked amazing and portions were generous. I had to post something though because I was reading a story about this restaurant just recently. I haven't been to this fine establishment in literally close to forty years, but when I did live in Lockport with my ex wife, we came regularly and the best way to describe it was perfection. The food, service, you name it was simply the best. I'm sure many of the people are not working (or otherwise gone) since I came here, but we'd often bring my mother in law and my parents too. Just an outstanding experience from my past life. Again, this is a review that's not relevant to today, but I'm sure it's still just as outstanding as I remember it being in the early part of the 1980s. Our group of three went to the Fieldstone Inn for the first time. From the initial greeting to the dessert, the Inn was welcoming and the food was delicious. We all ordered a very different entree; a turkey dinner which my friend said was excellent; beef quesadillas reported to be perfectly filling with tasty ingredients; and my dinner, shrimp and scallop linguine served in a flavorful light sauce. Entrees get salad and homemade soups, they had creamy potato and beef and rice. I ordered their haddock special which literally melted in my mouth. Family and I came here for dinner on a Saturday night and had made reservations for 6PM. We arrived about 10 minutes before and had plenty of parking spots to choose from but there were still a fair amount of cars there. As soon as we walked in we were promptly seated and our drink orders were taken. The atmosphere on the inside is kind of dark but it's nice and relaxing with some music playing (pop hits from Sirius XM). There's plenty of seating and a nice looking bar right as you walk in. One of the main draws of this place I learned was that for an additional $4, you get unlimited soup and salad with your meal. They had two soups that rotate daily it seems and a small salad bar with chef salad-style toppings to choose from with three different dressings. I didn't try any of the soups but the overall consensus was that both the soup and salad were good! Also included was a container of Italian-style bread with butter. For my main course, I decided to try one of their new menu items: the Philly Cheese-steak Wrap with a side of steamed broccoli. The wrap tasted pretty good but I just wish there was more. I felt the portion sizes, at least for my dish, were lacking. I grabbed another salad to get myself to that "full" point. The others ordered the beef-on-weck with fries and a Coconut-crusted chicken breast (which was an appetizer!). All of those dishes looked very good too and they seemed satisfied with the portion sizes. Overall, I'd say the food here was pretty good but they need to work on the portion sizes, in my opinion. Had not been here in over 10 years. Tonight's meal was an unexpected pleasant surprise! At a group dinner meeting for 12 people and used Fieldstone's semi-private back room off to the left side. Quiet, enabling everyone to be heard at the table. All meals were stated as very good. My fillet mignon/shrimp combo platter was cooked perfectly and was excellent. Nice variety at the soup/salad bar which was included with most entrees. The personalized service from Miranda was EXCEPTIONAL, and it is so refreshing these days to have a server who has such a positive attitude with a focus on ensuring customer satisfaction! I've been coming to the Fieldstone with my parents for many many years. This is probably their favorite restaurant in Lockport for lunch, with their endless soup and salad bar. It's also a beautiful restaurant that is great for dinner as well, and they like to take family here when in from out of town.
