I've been a fan of MotoMedi since living in Lubbock and regularly come by for a quick bite when I'm in town visiting my girlfriend. Today's meal for myself was especially great. MotoMedi is best described as a more locally owned CAVA. Big bowl of whatever you want. I'm not a CAVA enjoyer, but I really like MotoMedi. Maybe it's just how much fresher it tastes here. Sometimes I overdo it and put way too much crap in my bowl, but today was not that day: Rice, Grilled Chicken, Roasted Veggies, Pickled Onions, Pickled Cabbage, and their Honey Aleppo sauce. All the ingredients tasted fresh, and I devoured it with no regard for human life. The lady who served me was super helpful in making sure I got exactly what my girlfriend wanted as she sent me a text of what to do. They also were playing some bumping music inside. This place is MUST try if you are driving through Lubbock. Located near Costco, this place has huge dine in and cute outdoor sitting as well in covered area. I liked about this place that they offer variety but Menu is also simple with custom bowl options. You can choose a base, protein, veggie -salad, sauce, dip and lot of toppings. I got orzo rice base, falafel as protein, roasted veggies, green tahini sauce, muhammra as dip. This bowl also comes side of pita,and I also got hummus as second dip on side. There were a few familiar flavors mixed in with the new flavors. The bowl was enough to be filling without making me feel like I had over-eaten. The space was open and bright. The bread is the worst. This place used to be peak. All of the food is amazing. The staff is above and beyond incredibly kind every time I come here. But the bread is the worst. Not just because the new recipe is objectively not good, but because it was something that used to come as an inclusion to each bowl as 2 pieces of lavash bread, a different thing entirely. Now, it is a small puck of soggy, cold, "artisan" bread that is raw and doughy in the middle. I'm not saying this as a one-time review. It has been consistently this way every single time I've come here over the months since their random forced change of recipe. It's cost saving, it's cutting corners for the slightly lesser time it takes to bake, and it's an insult to anyone who has enjoyed this business and other small business RNH owns around town. It's not that I don't want to spend extra for fresh and consistently great food over $13 for one bowl--(or more than you're paying at Chipotle)--it is just frustrating to give money to a business that is overcharging for every little thing while taking away the random small things that actually ma it good, only to replace with bad forced alternatives. Loved the place but I hate the disconnect from the customers that is clearly happening here and don't plan on returning. read more

I'm not from here. I moved to Lubbock from a much larger city with any restaurant to fill my culinary desires. Turns out, Lubbock isn't far off from this. Having a place like MotoMedi here was one of my biggest surprises. They do things here what I call "Chipotle style". They make bowls filled with a mix of many different ingredients. Only they have a ton more than Chipotle has ever imagined having. There are bases like rice, salad, and fluffed wheat. Meats including steak, chicken, and lamb. Roasted veggies and fries. Plus a ton of fresh and pickled medleys featuring onions, cabbage, olives, chickpeas, cheeses, and more. Plenty of sauces complete the mix either for topping or dipping the pita that joins your bowl at the end. My biggest desire here is that they would have a rice base option that doesn't include orzo pasta in it. While nothing here can be truly gluten free, that would at least give a more gluten-conscious option. I'd also like to see more price transparency. It says $11 at the start of the build your bowl menu, but it always ends up being over $15 at the checkout and you're left wondering how. Or perhaps employees could say "sure, that's going to be a slight upcharge" like they always do at Chipotle when you order guac. The employees are otherwise fine. They don't have table service. You order and take your food to your table. It's illogical for the machine to ask for tips at the end. Drinks are from a Coca-Cola freestyle machine and the restaurant is a large open concept without any ambiance to speak of. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Lubbock to snag a well-balanced and healthy meal on the fly. read more

On my last trip to Lubbock, my son and I were looking for a quick bite but not quite fast food. We weren't extremely hungry so decided on something on the lighter side. He mentioned MotoMedi Mediterranean was on his list and heard good things about it. Mediterranean is kind of low on the types of cuisines I like, but decided to try it out. The restaurant was located in a little strip of eateries right off the highway and had plenty of parking. Customer service was great. The best way to describe this place is that it is like a Subway, Chipotle, or Cava. More like Cava because of the type of food served. You start by picking a base, then add on protein, dips, sauces and toppings. Certain items have an additional upcharge. For the base, you can choose between orzo rice, fluffed wheat, arugula salad or spiced fries. Protein choices include grilled chicken, roasted vegetables, falafel, chicken kofta, Persian kofta, skirt steak or lamb. I went with orzo rice and grilled chicken. They have quite a few toppings and sauces. The bowls also came with flatbread and two dips. They have the Coke Freestyle machines to make your own soda creations or they have several tea options. Both tea options were delicious. Food wise, the bowls looked very promising. At first bite, I was thinking it wasn't too bad, but as I kept eating, I quickly lost interest. The flavors were just so subtle and was missing something. I am used to the very pronounced flavors like I get at Cava. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad at all. I personally was not blown away. The bread that came with it was not good though but the hummus I got with it helped it out a little bit. I know my taste buds must be off considering this place is highly rated and popular. I can't say that I would rush back, but I would give them another chance with another combination of flavors. read more

Family in Lubbock to celebrate the graduation of my oldest from Texas tech university! Decided to stop in for lunch as we all live Mediterranean food. We ordered our food at the counter as the young lady prepared everything in front of us. They have a great selection of meat and non meat items to make a bowl. I had the lamb with orzo rice, grilled veggies, hummus, taziki sauce , and a garlic sauce they make. (You can get sauce in the side). The food met us at the register as we checked out. They have baklava as well and a brownie for the sweet tooth. Sadly there's no alcohol :-). The food has great flavor and cooked well. It just was not as hot as I hoped. First of all, This is my first time here so I might give this place a second chance. I mean everyone has a bad day. The service was not that great. For one, the girl who helped me seemed annoyed that I had showed up. I told her it was my first time and she offered no suggestions or information on the menu items when I asked. I asked if they had unsweetened ice tea and she just pointed and said yes. GUESS WHAT? They do not, but too late I paid for a drink so I'm sitting here sipping some sugary beverage. On the positive side, I did hear another employee offer info to other newbies. The portions are huge and they have lots of toppings. The chicken was juicy and flavorful. I'm glad I asked for the sauce on the side because it is quite sweet. I'm not thinking this place is authentic, but they have sumac and maras pepper to top your food off with. I LOVE Motomedi. They still have the convenience of being a quick service restaurant while having unique flavors for West Texas. The way you order at this restaurant is very similar to Chipotle as you create your own bowl. I always start with the salad and choose the chicken and roasted vegetables as my proteins. The next choice involves the fun stuff... sauces!! They have a lot of great options but I enjoy the white garlic and the hot sauce. For the toppings I pretty much ask for everything, but I need extra Turkish pickles (they are divine)! Don't forget to grab some dip for your lavash bread. I don't remember exactly what we got in one bowls but the food was fine. Not amazing but good. The service was bad. The ordering process is pretty straightforward - pick a base, protein, toppings, dips. But the server wasn't very helpful in asking about each item. For example, you get two dips (hummus, etc.) but our server didn't ask us what dips we wanted. She just passed our bowls tit he cashier. I noticed others with dips so I went back and asked. Suite enough, the sign says you get two dips so I got a couple. You might think I'm whining about something I cools have figured out. You're right but at most places like this, they ask you at each step what you'd like. Just would have made the process smoother. I have one complaint, every time I come in. It takes forever to get an order of falafel. I started straight up telling the employees "we're gonna have two orders of falafel if you want to go ahead and throw it" and they still never do. So sometimes by the time I'm paying for my order, they're JUST now throwing it. Throw it when someone says it. It's way more efficient. If I have to wait 5-10 minutes after paying, it could be cut down by at least a couple minutes with no sweat off your back. I will add, I like that y'all throw it fresh, because the stale balls of falafel y'all were previously doing were dry and gross.
