Worst experience ever! I took my Dads pride and joy to Tim to sell. Beautiful car. All original. Tim was great! I never heard anything until I went by in January and it was outside under snow and ice ( it had always been garaged). Against their wishes, they finally took it inside. The owner told me Tim Stentiford just up and left and " they lost all the paperwork and didn't know who owned it " (!). I looked in the office and there were 100's of file folders on the floor. They said they'd look again. Wouldn't the info be in their computer?? I asked how they could then sell it without documentation, as it was listed on their website. Blank stare. I went back in the Spring when the car was back outside and the condition it was in made me cry. The original paint was ruined and peeling, the original seats were torn open , and the running board was rusted off. The guys at Motorland Vintage America are great! We began looking at a vehicle at Motorland in February 2014. By the time we finalized the purchase in June, we were very impressed with the service we received from Tim and his team at Motorland. Over the course of several months we had lots of questions about mechanical details, vehicle history, etc. Every exchange we had with Tim was professional, courteous and helpful. Tim was responsive to our questions, and got us good information in a timely manner. Tim also recommended a mechanic to complete a pre-purchase inspection (since we were purchasing this car from half a continent away) on our behalf. Normally I'd be leery of an inspector recommended by the seller of a vehicle, but Todd (the inspector) was thorough, detailed, and honest about the condition of the vehicle. In the end we made the trip up to Maine to see the car, and it was exactly as represented. It was great to see all the cars in the Motorland collection. Tim is a bit of an authority on local history, so we got a guided tour of Kennebunkport in the deal as well. This was a long process for us, but a quality experience overall. Whatever you do, DON'T LEAVE YOUR CAR at Motorland on consignment. The owner, Tim Stentiford, is a chronic liar and a con artist. We left our classic muscle car there on consignment, after signing a contract that stated we were responsible for a $200 a month storage fee, not to mention other crazy fees, something we were never told up front. We were told the car was going into the showroom, but based on the gas used and the mileage, it seems that as soon as we left, Tim's 23 year-old employee, Allan, was allowed to joy ride in it including driving it home at night. We were told afterward by Tim that this is their "policy" as they "need to get to know the car". A week after leaving it, we went by Motorland finding it strange that our car was on the lot and the only car without the big sales sticker on the window. What we did find was that the glass T-tops, now smudged and dirty, had been removed and put back (Tim said he needed to take them out to figure out how they work), black rubber on the rear fenders from burn outs, pitch on the paint from it being parked under trees, pine needles and leaves inside on both sides (there are no trees on the lot) and the ignition having been forced despite our informing these people on the proper way to remove the key. Tim lied and said the car had been out on a test drive, but couldn't remember the man's name and had no documentation to prove it. It wasn't until we got home and checked the mileage that the penny dropped! We went back to take the car (we live 65 miles away) as soon as possible, which meant driving it home in the rain. My husband spent 2.5 hours detailing the car to clean up the mess. It was a nightmare, but it hasn't ended yet as, thanks to the abuse done to this car, it has without a doubt, hastened the need to change the clutch. read more

I took delivery in Arizona of a classic car from Motorland. The car had been advertised at hemmings.com and the dealer's Web site described the car as being very good to excellent in every respect, and they told me there was no rust. My mechanic soon found significant rust, no rear brake function, non-original engine, and evidence of a collision. An independent certified appraiser valued the vehicle at $6,000 less, or 40% less, than the purchase price. I have tried to get Motorland to accept responsibility for their actions, but they refuse. I would have given zero stars. The reason is - you cannot rate something that did not happen. I sincerely hope this dealership treats their customers better than business partners. Now the story. I was supposed to find and deliver a few rare cars to Motorland. Preliminary emails and phone calls went good, I offered to come down and meet in person, as personal contact always means a lot in business. We agreed on a certain date. I live 700 miles away (don't know why Yelp decided I'm in California). I came, saw the dealership, met Tim - the owner. The meeting went well, I spent there several hours. We discussed everything and I left. On my way back home I got an email from Tim - basic stuff, like "Nice to meet you, looking forward to doing business together, let's get in touch early next week". Good. I shot back the same nice email. Then another two emails with proposed course of actions based on what we discussed. Then another couple of phone calls, as there was no response to questions raised in my emails. And that was it. Neither these three emails of mine, or the following phone calls were returned. The very first phone call was even dropped. Then I was automatically redirected to voice mail. Needless to say my message was ignored. Funny how during our meeting Tim complained about one of his former business partners, who never got back to him on something: "Such a disrespect, he did not respond to my emails, nothing". Indeed, we tend to accuse others in our own sins. The bottom line is: if for some unforeseen reason you decide to back out - say it. Create an unbelievable story of how aliens invaded your dealership, how the leprechauns messed with your brain and made you do stuff, but say it. Once again, I truly hope Motorland's clients get the best experience, and the rating they got is well deserved. As far as business partners - get a deposit/pre-payment, etc. before making any further steps. You were warned by my time and money waste, and two sleepless nights behind the wheel. read more
