Just a brief review, a positive one. I reached out yesterday to inquire about wiper arms for my 76 Z. I spoke with David which was very knowledgeable and helpful. The wiper arms I needed was discontinued but was able to give me some sources and I was able to find what I needed. I've ordered parts from Motorsport Auto for many years. They've always been a great source for parts for my 280Z. This week, however, I had a beyond-the-ordinary experience that compelled me to post a review. I called Motorsport and asked for assistance in identifying a mystery part on my car that I could not find reference to in the Nissan service manual. After sending a photo to Alejandro, he surveyed his colleagues and emailed me back information about the part - something called a dash pot. Now, Motorsport doesn't actually sell this part, but he felt compelled to write back to me just so I had the information. Good stuff. read more

Wont be shopping here unless I absolutely need it. One of the workers offered me a "discounted" downpipe, because he claimed it was from an opened box. After shopping here so many years, I didn't hesitate to refuse the offer. No returns since it was on sale. I get home to put it on and it has an obvious alignment issue. The slip fitting for the headers and downpipe didn't line up. I was even able to get another header collector on without any problem. I called and told them my problem and request; and they kindly responded by telling me that they "most likely got them in the order yesterday" and I could receive a replacement the same day. After my drive to Orange, I arrived and they said that they had none in stock. Next, they tried to say that I don't know how to work on my car and put on a slip fitting. Ha! These guys are a joke. They dont realize that I paid for a part, and that I should receive something that fits! They couldn't own up to the part being out of alignment even after they tried to wiggle it on their headers at the store. Couldn't get it on more than an inch; but any other collector goes on the full slip! Right in front of their eyes and they couldnt admit to selling me a defective part. Never recommending this company again. If you can find the product elsewhere, order it! It's probably out of stock at Motorsport anyway. read more

Ordered a re-built alternator online and when I received it the part was not Hitachi but AC Delco. There was no indication on the page that the part was not a rebuilt original manufacturer part but ok I assumed I would just return it. When I called I was told that they did not accept electric part returns - also not indicated on the web page but buried way down in the fine print on the order page. Have purchased from here before, will not in the future. read more

In restoring a Datsun 240Z, I ordered some parts on line from the Z Store. The web site was easy to navigate, prices fair and service excellent. It seems funny to say service when communications were all on line or email but they did provide great service. I received an email shortly after placing my order to confirm receipt. A second email from Motorsport Auto confirmed they received the order and parts were in stock. Jon projected shipment within 24 hrs via Fed Ex ground (I selected the least expensive shipping option) and suggested it should arrive in two business days. From order to delivery, the process was less than 48 hours. Products were well packaged and intact. This is as easy as it gets. All purchase of vintage car parts from this store have been great EXCEPT for one...be advised... As a classic auto enthusiast, I have a bug for early Z cars from the 1970s. This is the "sketchy" product... Aluminum Rear Brake Drum, 70-78 240Z-260Z-280Z Code: 24-5050A Price:$129.95 website link: http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic01b/24-5050A Purchased a pair and had a professional auto shop install the aluminum drums on my 240Z. The car was in the process of restoration and was driven less than 1,500 miles after installing the new brake drums. 8 months after purchase, the car was roadworthy, intended for "occasional" weekend use...however, I noticed a problem with the parking brake not holding the car on my driveway. Upon inspection by my local brake shop, it was observed the right rear drum had three cracks in it and was unsuitable for safety reasons for the shop to adjust the parking brake. My shop stated it was highly unusual and unsafe, and they were not able to perform any work using the cracked drum for safety reasons. I tried to have the part replaced, but was definitively declined by Motorsport Auto due to customer support citing the manufacturer only provided a 90 day, 2,500 mile warranty. They requested I send photos of the defect, which I did, but after contacting their supplier, the problem was declined due to "unpublished" warranty standards by their manufacturer (past 90 days). Caught between a rock and a hard place, I had to pay again to obtain a replacement part, which may be "dangerous" due to manufacturing defect...would you feel good knowing your brakes may fail due to faulty casting??? Please be very cautious. In general, Motorsport Auto is great, other than this experience. read more
