I came here in June 2018 to have a used car I wanted to buy inspected. I drove the car over from the dealership and waited in the waiting room while they did an all point inspection on the car to make sure everything was good. They gave me an estimate of a few hours for the inspection, but ended up doing it in about 45 minutes (always good customer service to over estimate and deliver under time!!). The inspection came up with a few items, none of them a big deal, but I was grateful that everything wasn't perfect because that would be suspicious. I ended up buying the car and am very happy. I noticed my coolant was a little low so I called up Motorsport and spoke with Ken. My car requires special coolant that they had. Ken said to come on by and he would top it off. I drove over and he pulled my car in topped off my coolant. Ken was super nice, and I have a service due on my car in about 500 miles, and I have never been here so I figured I would see how they were. I made an appointment for next week as the customer service was top notch. Friendly, a smile, and helping me out when I needed it really was great in today's day when customer service has gone in the toilet with most places! Returned a few weeks later for and oil change and they were so honest they said this air filter is not to be changed for quite a while and gave me a print out of the suggested interval. It is my second time at this location. The first time was to install my axle on the car. They told me the cost (which was very reasonable) and it would be finished the same day. Music to my ears right? After everything was finished they told us how bad out axle was and it was a good thing we got that repaired. Second time coming here, was for the alternator. Came across this shop last year, used them for alignment then and just used them again yesterday. I've only ever been to Auto Zone or Pep Boys for alignment, and after getting my car back from those guys, I don't notice any difference and they tell me it's just the car. When I got the work done at Motorsport Tech, it was night and day difference, my car drove straight, my steering wheel was centered perfectly, and no more weird tire noises and uneven wear. They give you a before and after analysis along with your receipt so you can see how off your alignment was. I'm putting together a 350z to give my son for his birthday, and while I was getting a head uni, amp, and sub installed at Best Guys in Concord (another 5-star story...), I got a bug in my ass to put on rims. I called a half-dozen tire shops in widening circles from home-even my best friend, who runs a tire shop in 831-but no one was willing/able to get me the tire/rim combo I was looking for in a day. Turning to Yelp, I came across the good people at Motorsport. I shot them an email with my specs (width/pattern/offsets/tire sizes) and received a call back within 30 minutes. Their price, mounted, balanced, installed, including moving my TPMS sensors from the stock wheels, re-mounting the stock tires and wheels, AND a 4 wheel alignment, was less than my friend quoted me on wheels alone! When I got there today, I was in and out of the shop in about an hour and 45 minutes. I took advantage of the free wifi in the waiting area, and actually got some work done. In addition to replacing my starter, they also did an oil change and replaced my windshield wipers all at a reasonable cost. I dropped my car off on a Sunday and it was ready for pick up the next day. They are losing their touch I used to go to these guys before and never had a problem. Worst service I ever had today. I brought in my car for service. Alignment is what they do and they couldn't do it on my car. They actually made it worst, they couldn't align my car but they could charged me the full price for it. I had to tow my car home. Disappointed. Update: once I brought it back I inspected the front camber kit adjustment bolts and they were rounded off also it looks like your technician didn't even bother adjusting the driver side because when I installed the suspension I torque them and also mark them and the marks showed that the drivers side wasn't even touched. I recently installed coilovers and experienced a rattling issue on the front passenger side. It was loud and annoying, so I brought it to Motorsport Techniques for them to inspect and adjust my coils. I reached out to Kin through Yelp and received a fast reply. I was able to schedule an appointment the next day which was convenient and nice. My car wasn't taken in at the scheduled time because they were a little backed up, but that wasn't an issue. Their waiting room also provides free water and Wi-Fi. Essentially, I was charged $300 for them to reinstall my front coils properly (I installed them wrong the first time) as well as adjust the front and rears to my liking. $300 for about two and a half hours of labor is quite expensive, but the work that was done here is solid. Tim was the technician who worked on my car; he's a chill guy and definitely knows his way around suspensions. He also gave me tips and pointed out what I did wrong when I installed the coils. TL;DR - 5 stars for the work that was done, but 1 star is deducted because of the expensive labor rate. Kin is very responsive and gets straight down to the point. Shout out to Tim for finishing the work quickly and getting rid of the rattling issue. read more

I've been to Motorsport a couple times before over the years for alignments and have always been happy with their work - I think most bay area car enthusiasts know whats up. I scheduled a tire swap and alignment for my current car. Their schedule is about a week out currently so if you need something quick then might not work out for you. I had time to wait. On the day of I dropped the car off with instructions. Alignment was quick but they were unable to mount the tires because the wheel bead and tire bead width didn't play nice together. They told me straight up and gave me the name of another shop to try. The other shop had more equipment/experience with atypical tire mounting and got it to work. Definitely recommend Motorsport. They are a smaller shop but do good work and are honest. Disclaimer, they are not a TIRE shop (not their bread and butter). Basic stuff should be fine but if you have an odd setup check with them first. read more

My W211 AMG's airmatic suspension was starting to show its age with air leaks. Decided now would be the best time to covert to a coilover suspension. Kin was able to order all the parts needed, get it installed and aligned. They also were able to clear all the codes in the computer for the swap. Final price was lower than what was first quoted. Will definetely be coming back, probably for new tires as the new suspension has me driving the car more "Spirited." read more

Kin was very accommodating. I missed the morning appointment for alignment because I was getting tires install at another shop. But Kin was able to squeeze me into a late afternoon appointment. While I was at the shop, I explained to Kin that I was getting an AFS error light in my car. He asked his mechanic to look into it and they found out that the when I had my struts installed at another shop, they installed the AFS sensor wrong. Kin and his crew fixed the sensor and did not even charge me for it. They did it as a courtesy. I was blown away because a lot of shops would have charge me for this service. Also, found out they do tires, suspension and other car works, too. I am definitely coming back to Motorsport Techniques to for all my car fixes in the future. Ken and crew here at Motorsport Techniques are absolutely stand-up guys. They're incredibly transparent (no BS, tells things as they are, nothing to hide), respectful of your time, extremely competitive in terms of rates, and always there to take the extra step to make things right. If you are working with aftermarket suspension, aftermarket wheels (especially expensive ones that you would only trust in good hands), and tires, then look no further. Jack, Mark, and the other technicians here are the best-of-breed and consistently work with a diverse variety of cars, from older '88 Mitsubishi pickup trucks and '92 Honda Accords to newer Porsches, 7 series, Infinitis, Subarus, Evos, etc. I always see car enthusiasts here with well-cared for, higher end (often modified) cars, so if you're one of these folks then you can feel confident that they have a good track record. I live in Fremont and always make the 25 minute trek out to them in Hayward. They are now the only place I take my car to for anything suspension and wheel related. Although I typically do my own maintenance work on my cars, I took my G35 in to drain and fill my transmission and flush my rear diff fluids last month. They did it quickly and at a better price than all the other local shops. They are busy pretty much any day of the week, so be sure to make an appointment beforehand. Their waiting area has a nice, small gallery of high-end rims from Works, Volks, SSR, etc and some accessories such as lug nuts, lighting, and what not. I brought my Porsche and my VW CC here and it's the ONLY auto repair and alignment place that I feel won't rip me off. If any of my friends, regardless of what kind of car they drive, tells me they have car trouble, MST is the first and only place I recommend for them. On a side note: Wheel Works charged me MORE for an alignment and said "Oh sorry we can't do anything about the camber." WTF did you even do then? You charged me 99 bux and you can't fix the camber? I play around with my suspension quite often and requires an alignment afterward. I've been to a lot of wheel shops and they were okay. Some had adequate service and labor while others just straight up sucked #%^#s! My wheels were scratched and damaged and they denied fault. I hit up yelp and found this local shop with 5 stars and decided to give them a call for some Q&As. Usually with full coilover and camber kit all around, I pay around $80 only. I paid $100 here because it was closer to me. However, after seeing the result and effort put in, I did not mind the extra $20 at all. First off, my car is fully lowered on racing coilovers and made it up their ramp without a single problem (a plus for tuners). Jack was the technican who serviced my car and he did an excellent job on it. Unlike ALL of the shop that I've went to, Jack actually measured the tire pressure first to get the max load preset at heated range so that the alignment specs can be accurate. All of the shops that I've went to doesn't even bother to do so. Next off, I let him know what are my concerns to be addressed (i.e. coilovers, camber kits, camber plates, any kind of rubbing between wheel and frame) and he replied with the question of whether or not I have a custom specs that I would like. We walk through it and I decided on a custom spec outside of factory range that Jack was willing and able to perform (most shop will only align your car to factory specs and wont even ask if you want it customed). The only con is that their alignment wheel sensor tool doesn't clip onto the lip of the rims. It overlays onto the spokes and clips over the tire. If not removed carefully, your spokes will be scratched. I found a few scratches on my new rims after I got home. Overall 4.5/5 in my opinion. read more

Hey all, this is the first time I am actually motivated to write a negative review. I came here on the weekend to get a wheel alignment for $85 on my subaru legacy. After a few hours I came back and the mechanic told me they could only align the front two wheels. It seemed that this was because the bolts on my back wheels were rusted shut. I asked the mechanic if I can pay half since only half the job was done, but he refused so I ended up paying $85 for an incomplete job. I would be very careful if you choose to go here; it feels like i was ripped off. I went in to change wheels and do an alignment. I had extra tires & wheels, I just wanted the 4 best wheels and tires on the car.... I turned out to need TPMS sensors, so I had to order those and come back... While waiting, we talked about ordering tires from tire rack for my wife's car....and painting calipers. While the conversation was casual, I was under the impression that I could get calipers painted for $250 and tires mounted for $35. I thought that was cheap. So I went home, ordered tire rack tires for my wife's car...made an appointment...Also decided to get calipers painted... Turns out, it was $30 per tire to mount...and the calipers were $250 only for the front, not all 4. That was $450... They picked the 4 best wheels and tires and mounted them on the car...only to find a small leak on one of the rear tires. So they swapped the tires. I think they swapped the entire set...so I got two bad wheels in the back of the car.... Understandable. But not great. Also, they forgot to do my alignment....Didn't charge me, but still. I should have gone over everything in detail. Overall, my experience was OK. Not great. Calipers look really good, just not cool that I need to make another appointment to swap wheels and get an alignment... I should have confirmed the price and went over the work order.
