//i placed an order for custom hub centric rings, then realized I hadn't considered the diameter of the push through hub center caps until after I had placed my order which began this long thread of unhelpful exchanges//
11/20 (me): "Hey Lenny, Regarding the hub rings I ordered. I gave you the measurements: 67.1mm for the Inner Diameter and 82mm for the Outer Diameter. Could you change the Outer Diameter to 80mm? I want to make sure it fits and 82 might be cutting it too close. Thanks."
11/20 (Lenny): "I have a better Idea on this! Mail me a Cap, I will make the Rings fit perfectly inside the Cap if I have one to build off of. Your just in a 1-2 day zone"
11/20 (me): "Awesome! Thanks, Lenny. I'll mail it out tomorrow."
11/21 (Lenny): "coool"
11/21 (me): "Lenny, Mailed out the cap today. Just so we're clear, you are going to send that back to me with the hub rings, yeah? I taped the crap out of the box so apologies if it takes you longer than it should to open it. Keep me posted. Thanks"
//That last email was followed by a period of 0 communication before I finally followed up//
12/3 (me): "Hey Lenny, Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. Just wanted to follow up and check on the status of the hub rings. Did you receive the hub center cap?"
12/4 (Lenny): "We are building all the Hub Ring orders right now. I should be shipping them by tomorrow"
//He never responded to my question of whether or not he had received the hub center cap. More than a week later, the rings arrived but w/o my hub center cap//
12/13 (me): "Lenny, Just received the custom hub center rings but you forgot to return the hub cap I sent you to mold it to. Appreciate it if you could return that as soon as possible so I can get these suckers installed."
12/16 (Lenny): "Shoot, Ok, I will get that out"
//Another week goes by with 0 communication//
12/23 (me): "Lenny, I'm sure you're super busy with the holiday season, but just wondering if you've had a chance to send out my hub cap. Been more than a week since the last email and no hub cap yet. Help me out here."
12/26 (Lenny): "Sorry for the delay. I got super sick right before the holiday and then was out of the office for a while. I want to get you the Cap right away. What type of Cap was it again? A couple of my guys are off until the 2nd of Jan and I have to personally go into the machine shop and find it... I want to make sure I know what I am looking for. Thanks"
12/27 (me): "Sorry to hear you got sick. Hope you had a Merry Christmas. The cap was an all black, Black Rock, hub center cap. It says Black Rock on it. I've attached a photo."
//I attached a photo for his convenience//
12/27 (Lenny): "I didn't get a chance to look today because we had 2 new CNC machines delivered and I was doing that all day long. I have a note on my desk to look first thing Monday and told one of my guys to start looking. Shoot me an email on Monday and I will reply with a tracking number. Have a good weekend"
//11 days pass. In fairness to him, I did not email him the following Monday as he requested, so I guess it's my fault that a month and a half since I sent him the hub center cap, he still hasn't returned it//
1/07/2014 (me): "Just keep it, man. I'm over it. Good luck with your business."
//Here's the kicker...the OD of the custom rings he made do not fit into my other hub center caps so I'm assuming he did not mold it to it. To this day, I don't even know if he ever received it or lost it or what. All I know is, custom hub center rings will cost you $115.00 + a hub center cap + 2 months with these guys. so conduct your business with them warily. I don't like to blanket bash anyone and I'm sure they're great people, but this experience was frustrating.
the delays wouldn't have bothered me so much if at the very least, there had been better communication throughout the process. i hope their M.O. improves, for their sake, and for their future customers// read more
