This is a cute Asian-oriented American fusion restaurant with outside and inside dining. The inside seems to be full service. The outside your Oder via mobile QR code and they bring the food to your table. A friend suggested we try Mott after seeing a cute post on tik tok. Wish we had more options for food. Wanted to try the wings but once I looked at menu realized it was only 3 wings for $18..... and each additional wing was $6 .... a little over budget for me and my hunger for casual food. Didn't seem reasonable to me and got the 18$ burger instead. It was delicious, filling and I was happy with the selection. We ordered the Lychee frozen also via QR Code. It's supposed to come like shaved ice but their machine was broken so they brought it on the rocks. I was expecting more of a traditional sweet lychee cocktail but didn't realize the description said "smoky" and also had some tajin on the rim. Amazing food and ambiance. Dined in for brunch for a friend's birthday with a group of 6 so I was able to try a good amount of dishes. I really enjoyed the gai lan and avocado rillette appetizers. My friend and I split the Mott Burger and Pork Belly Benedict. The Benedict was my favorite of the two. The pork was very tender, onsen egg was so good, and the sauce was delicious. Such an amazing Asian fusion brunch spot with a gorgeous patio! I felt lucky to have been in town during gorgeous weather in August. It had been years since seeing some dear friends and we ordered a bunch of items off the menu: --fish fillet sandwich --Mott burger --wok smoked gailan --coconut pancakes --freeman torta --Kimchi breakfast potatoes Everything was outstandingly delicious and beautifully presented! All our dishes came out lightning fast and we feasted in delight! I would say the gailan and coconut pancakes were exceptionally tasty. The only thing that prompted me to knock off a star was the strange service towards the end...we ordered the coconut pancakes as dessert to split and our waiter took 15 mins after we were done with our main entrees to ask if we still wanted it. We were like um, heck yeah! It took forever for our dirty plates to be cleared and nearly 30 mins went by without the pancakes. We watched the kitchen crank our dish after dish to folks who got seated after us, including orders of the pancakes. So I flagged down the waiter and he apologized, walked into the kitchen and brought them out. I also had to flag him down for the bill. Mott St remains one of my top date night spots for delicious asian-fusion food and amazing craft beer and cocktail options. The lighting inside is moody but not too dark, and it gets packed so there's the buzz of tableside chatter to add to the ambiance. Even on weeknights this place will get packed so be sure to get a reservation! Their Mott Burger is always a hit. It's so savory and unique with their hoisin aioli, miso butter onions, and sweet potato shoestrings. I opted not to add the egg so it would be a little easier to split. I also had the everything wings, a standard order comes with three but per the server's suggestion, I added an extra wing so it's easier to share! I love that it comes with the wing tips. The cream cheese dipping sauce is incredible and the everything sauce really reminds me of the sauce from San Tung in San Francisco (if you know you know!) I was really surprised how much I liked the Duchesse de Bourgogne Flanders-style sour red ale on draft. It was really complex and slightly sweet with each sip tasting a little different. The hitachino nest white ale was also really tasty. I would imagine even non-beer drinkers would enjoy this beer as it's not too strong but has really nice flavors and aromas. Note: If you don't see the burger on the food menu, don't freak out! It's hidden in the bar menu under the beers. If you want it at a table you'll need to order before 7pm! Drink 4 of 5: While I can't remember the name of the drink I can remember the description. It's a Ying and yang blend of coffee and black tea. I'd say that's the best way to describe the taste as well. It's not for everyone, but if you like coffee or black tea try it. Papaya Salad 4 of 5: Light and refreshing, bit I wish it had more of a kick to It's flavor overall. Everything Wings 5 of 5: perfectly fried wings with an amazing sauce and kick. I can see why this dish is popular here. The sauce has a sweet and spicy soy/oyster flavor. Everything Noodles with Shrimp 5 of 5: The noodles are perfectly al dente and the sauce is similar to the wings but without the spicy kick. Short Rib 3 of 5: The short rib is cooked well, but lacks any notable flavor compared to the other dishes. The oyster congee is also a bit lacking. I'd say to get this to the table before the really strong flavored dishes. Great experience overall and would highly recommend. read more

I finally made it to Mott St after hearing so much about their legendary burger--and it did not disappoint! We arrived around 5 PM on a Monday and got to take advantage of their happy hour, and I'm so glad we did. The deals were incredible, starting with their $9 cocktail of the day, the Green Tea Margarita, which was hands down the best cocktail I've had in Chicago for under $10. Such an amazing value! For appetizers, we ordered the everything wings, cauliflower, and garlic rice. Each dish was a hit! The cauliflower was perfectly cooked and seasoned, while the everything wings were a delightful surprise. They're served with tzatziki sauce--a first for me--and the pairing was amazing. The garlic rice rounded out the starters beautifully, setting the tone for the meal. Of course, I had to try the famous Mott St burger. When I saw it on the happy hour menu with an option to add an 8oz beer for just $1 more, it was a no-brainer. Who doesn't love a beer with their burger? I added an egg to the burger, and let me tell you--this is, without a doubt, the best burger I've had in Chicago. It absolutely lives up to the hype. Mott St has officially earned a spot on my "must-visit" list for when friends come to town. The food, drinks, and overall experience were exceptional. I wish I could give them six stars if I could. Pretty similar experiments at Mott St second time going and getting some different things. The burger still knocks it out of the park. This time, the close second was the stuffed cabbage. I don't think that stuffed cabbage seemed like an apt name, since the dish was more like lasagna but whatever it was, it was reallllly good. Kind of reminded me of ropa vieja. The side of cauliflower was also really good, just didn't need that much of it with everything else we got (just 2 of us). The imperial rolls were a little bit disappointing. Korean fusion restaurant most famous for its burger !! They have super cute vibes both indoor and outdoor and we opted for indoor cuz the weather was a bit humid and stuffy outside. I think overall I liked the direction of the dishes but they all kinda fell short on one or two small things. The burger was definitely one to come back for and the one that really made my experience. The dishes that were just okay were the crispy tofu and the kimchi udon. The sauce in the crispy tofu was super yummy and kind of reminded me of the sesame salad dressing you get at Japanese restaurants but it was kind of based on some vegetable puree (couldn't place what it was). I thought the tofu to sauce ratio was a little off and wished there was a lot more sauce. The tofu coating was super interesting--it was fried rice paper like texture and sorta chewy. I didn't love the firmness of tofu they picked--i wish it was either softer or firmer it was kind of an awkward middle that didn't go well with the coating. The kimchi udon was exactly what you'd expect, nothing too special. (Like I literally make kimchi udon at home every other week and it turns out similar in flavour minus the mentaiko). I thought the portion size was a bit small. I also don't love roe so it didn't really add to the dish for me :(( The mott burger was super yummy and definitely one of the most memorable burgers I've had recently. The double beef patties gave light hints of galbi sauce. I also really liked the meat to toppings ratio--they nailed it with the double patty. The quality of meats here across all dishes was really good. The onions inside the burger were sautéed in miso butter and that really elevated the overall flavour and added a lot of umami. (like umami is such a weird concept to describe, but the onions in here would be like the literal embodiment of the definition of "umami" it was insane) the fried mini sweet potato sticks were super cronchy and added fun texture. The whole burger was super well balanced, and while very heavy and rich, it still had fun texture and Asian flavours to balance out the heaviness. I liked the stuffed cabbage next. (I was originally not gonna order it based on the misleading name, but after I read Alan's review I decided that there was no way that this combination of ingredients could be bad and wanted to try it for myself). I think initial bites really reminded me of the kimchi stew my mom makes with pork back ribs in it. The pork belly was super soft from the slow cook and the kimchi had good char. The crispy rice layer was definitely a good addition. Like this was all my favourite parts of Korean food put into one. I think my only meh points were that the sauce had a lot of cream to give it the fusion taste (kind of like a rose ddukbokki sauce) and it made it heavier with each bite and the base kimchi was way too salty, so the overall dish was too salty. The crispy chilli cauliflower was my next fav item. It kind of reminded me of Korean street style popcorn chicken with sweet and spicy sauce (gangjeong) but like make it cauliflower. I really appreciated how light but uniform the coating was on cauliflower. The sauce was a sweet chili base with lots of ginger. I thought the ginger part was a bit too overpowering. The bean sprouts in here was the one piece of genius that really elevated the texture with its cronch and flavour by added a refreshing break from the fried cauliflower and the sauce. read more

This was one of the most unwelcoming restaurant experiences I've had. We arrived 3 minutes before opening for our reservation in the cold (10 degree weather). The staff was clearly inside, fully ready, lights on, moving around. We politely asked if we could step inside to wait for those few minutes out of the cold. The response? A flat refusal. We were told, "We can't open the door for you early. That's how we do it." No empathy, no hospitality. No basic human decency. After being treated so disrespectfully and heartlessly, we decided to leave rather than support a place that treats guests this way. Booked a last minute reservation to catch-up with an out of town girlfriend. Didn't realize the restaurant was so loud. If that is your vibe, by all means enjoy. This establishment has been on my list to try the famous Mott Street Burger. So I was excited when they had an opening after my friend didn't want Mediterranean. Staff were friendly. Food was good. Unable to get Mott Street Burger after 7pm. Understandable, however it is summer use the patio and grill the burgers outside. Anyhoo. The food was great. We split garlic rice, Everything wings, steak dish and Brussels sprouts between 3. We enjoyed our food but felt the protein options were skimpy for the price point. The steak dish was $38 bucks and had less 6 oz of meat. The flavor and temperature of the steak was good. We just wanted slightly more for the price. Also the wings were delicious but you only got 3. We all agreed, to axe the dipping sauce and add an extra wing. Would return but definitely during burger hours. Drinks were good but they kept trying to take them away. Mott St was packed when we arrived, even with the snowfall outside. Inside was warm, lively, and full, which already felt like a good sign. Our waitress was great and very candid about her favorites, which I appreciated. We ended up trying the burger since it is all over social media. It was good, definitely flavorful, but I have a feeling there are even better dishes on the menu. The real standouts for me were the potatoes and especially the papaya salad. The salad had the perfect balance of flavors and the shrimp was such a lovely, unexpected touch. I loved it. I was finally able to try Mott street and get the burger I've been hearing so much about! I went for brunch and thankfully they serve the burger because it wasn't on the online brunch menu that I saw. It was a good size burger, double patties with pickled jalapeños, miso onions, aioli and sweet potato shoestring for an added crunch effect. I devoured it. It really was a very solid burger and I can see why there is such a hype around it. Would love if they served it with an asian fusion inspired french fry! I also had the spirt-free lychee blossom which was refreshing but didn't taste much of lychee (aside from the lychee garnish). Our server was nice and attentive. We sat on the patio which has communal tables. I did put my phone down on the table and there was leftover food from a previous party that was on my case when I picked it up. The waiter brought me wet wipes to clean it off but a little more attention to detail could be beneficial during the turnover period for the next guests. My friend had the pork belly Benedict and said the port belly was amazing. She didn't care for the kale as it was somewhat undercooked. I tried it and thought the sauce had great flavor. We also split the congee as a starter and it was really good! I would describe it as a chicken soup porridge and I loved the fried onions for the texture addition that it needed. We also had the donuts afterwards which were warm, light and the perfect amount of sweet. There are so many more items on the menu at Mott St that I would love to try! Mott St has climbed to the top of the Chicago restaurant scene by making a name for itself as a decorated Asian fusion Michelin and James beard awarded establishment. It was not too difficult to get a reservation. Came here on a Saturday evening and it was bussling. The service was fantastic and interior of the restaurant gave an elevated backyard atmosphere. The Mott St burger, while it distinguishes itself as a high end gourmet burger doesn't quite compare to the likes of Au Cheval's burger. I would recommend trying Mott St for those who enjoy an Asian fusion meal. While I do see the appeal for the Chicago market, overall, I didn't think the taste and quality of food here reflected the reputation it had built or the prices they charge. read more

I went here two weeks in a row because i was pretty blown away by the food. The first time I went, my big group ordered the chef's menu and received an amazing selection of dishes from the menu. Every one was unique and filled in every box we needed: sweet, savory, tangy, spicy, meaty, and vegetal. My favorite dishes included the udon noodles and the mushrooms. The next week, I ordered a burger. I was told by the waitress the first time that Mott St is known for their burgers. Well, I could wee why because this was the best burger I have ever had. The perfect ratio of meat to cheese to toppings. It wasn't dry but also wasn't sopping wet like some burgers are in an attempt to be "juicy". It balanced sweetness with the savoriness much like their other dishes had done so the first time I came. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and wish I could come here more often. The restaurant is pretty casual feeling, but there's clear attention to detail, like it's not trying too hard but they still care about the aesthetics. Such a delicious brunch! We got the: coconut pancakes (so so so yummy! Perfectly sweet but not overly sweet), kimchi fried rice, pork belly benedict, and the burger. All of it was delicious and very savory. I almost wish it had a little bit more spice but that's just a personal preference.  The brunch cocktail mule was my favorite drink and the bloody mary spicy was a close second.  I think I still prefer their dinner menu over their brunch menu, but it was still delicious/the perfect space to bring friends from out of town!  The patio is super cute and a lot larger than it looks. I was visiting Chicago on a work trip and decided to get out of downtown to eat something different one night and I am so glad yelp brought this suggestion to me. It is incredibly unique with a flavor explosion of all different kinds of flavors and textures to give you that cohesive umami taste you KNOW you're craving. Beware, it does have a little kick. Now the burger is only sold during specific times during the day if you're dining in the dining room. However, if you're at the bar, fair game anytime of day. That being said, the overall vibe of Mott St is like upscale bar-esc? There's this long table in the middle where you'll most likely be seated that gives you that family style feel (don't worry, there's separate tables too if you'd like a little more privacy). I got a Mott Burger from Mott Street on a sunny Saturday afternoon. They didn't have any seating available or patio open yet so I had to order to-go. I don't know if I was allowed to or not, but did eat the burger on the high tops on the patio to make sure I ate it fresh. The aioli adds a nice flavor to the meat. It was a good burger and I can see why people have it in the top 10 burgers in the city. I would recommend giving it a shot. I was really amazed when I visited this awesome place of Mott St. I tried their summer tomato salad and it was a refreshing start with a generous portion of tomatoes, dressed subtly with vinaigrette and a touch of seaweed. The imperial rolls were delicious and not too heavy or overly greasy. The lettuce wraps actually enhanced at the dish, which seems never to be the case elsewhere. The Mott Burger more than lived up to the hype and was so unique with flavors from ingredients including miso butter onions, pickled jalapeño, and hoisin aioli.  I was a definitely hesitant but they all sang in beautiful harmony.  The stuffed cabbage was equally excellent with perfectly cooked pork, crispy rice, kimchi (which I don't normally like), and kimchi broth.  We shared the miso caramel budino for dessert which was fine, but our least favorite dish. Mott St hits the perfect blend of quality food, a unique yet approachable menu, cozy and inviting ambiance, and good service.  A great spot for a "nice" meal out in Chicago! The Mott Burger ($21) with egg (+$3) is SO GOOD but they only serve it until 7pm! It's pricey for a burger but definitely worth a try and a visit to the restaurant for that dish alone. The rest of the dishes we ordered (Brussels Sprouts, Oyster Mushrooms, Everything Garlic Shrimp & Noodles, Skirt Steak Kalbi) were tasty but very overpriced. The brussel sprouts were really good too though! Got dessert but was okay and not needed. The space is Asian-inspired with a rustic vibe, and Asian ingredients are on display on shelves along the walls. The tables were small for the amount of food we ordered so we had to rearrange every time a dish came out and there was hardly space for our plates/to eat comfortably.
