Motto Tsukemen is highly recommend for this summer time. Umami broth and excellent cooked on noodle. Also, you should try their house special Motto White or Motto Red. Motto White more original and if you like spicy broth, then Motto Red is the one. Don't forget to get their karage and garlic edamame as your appetizer. Yuzu Calpico is their best drink. With covid being a thing, we had to order via delivery! We got the motto special ramen and the pork curry katsu. The pork bone broth with the black garlic oil and chili oil was to die for. The noodles retained their bounciness, egg was perfectly soft boiled, pork chashu was perfectly tender. There was a beautiful balance to the ramen with all the toppings. For the price this was an excellent bowl of ramen!! As for the pork katsu, it was a solid 8/10. I think i should have gotten the chicken katsu but over all the japanese curry was flavorful and really what made it delicious! Love their Tsukemen / Dipping Noodle ($13.95) here. The broth is extra thick, flavorful and savory and the noodles are nice and chewy. It comes with two tender pieces of chashu pork, soft boiled egg and a lime to squeeze into your noodles. (Squeeze that lime! It'll make a difference.) I didn't care too much for the Beef Sukiyaki Don ($5.00) and the Chashu Don ($5.00) but I've been reading great things about the Chashu Fried Rice so perhaps I'll give that a go on my next trip. read more

Hidden ramen jewel in Huntington Beach! I can't seem to get away from the Motto Special (minus chili paste because I'm a spice wimp, but I add naruto and seaweed). So excited to have a ramen-ya close to home with INCREDIBLE melt-in-your-mouth BBQ pork. One day I will muster up the courage to try everything on the menu - but Motto Special is so good!! They're open nice and late (til 9:30) which is awesome for someone who usually has late work nights, but sometimes the staff will start cleaning before the restaurant closes/customers leave, and the smell of cleaning chemicals takes away from my experience of enjoying my ramen. Glad to see the staff is keeping up with maintaining a clean facility, but please refrain until customers have left! Minus one star, only because I can't minus half a star. Been here a couple times and left happy both times. The service is excellent and the food is as good as it looks. I brought some of my coworkers here and they loved it as well. Will be a regular here for sure. I recommend the Motto Ramen Special if you like spicyish broth. The chicken Karaage and Gyoza were really good as well. This restaurant has been my siblings go to spot for a while now. Their chicken kaarage is the best I've ever had. It's perfectly fried on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. Their chashu pork is also very delicious it's nice and fatty and also perfectly fried. I had to order more on the side because I didn't want to share mine. I love Tsukemen and I think theirs is on par with tsujita. The broth is thinner than tsujita and has more of a fish taste to it. I've ordered the "Motto Special" both times and each time i've encountered the same issue...it is WAY too salty! The flavor is decent but it's tough to tell when you get smacked with a mouth full of sodium. The chashu is nothing to write home about and I would prefer the egg to have a softer yolk but those aren't my deal breakers. If you're dying for some delicious ramen - this might not be your place. There are a few more joints in the area with a tastier broth. But, if you're nearby and don't feel like going on a quest for ramen, this is an ok spot. read more

Broth flavor was just right. Chashu isn't the best. Tsukeman (spicy) (B+) - Broth was too thick so it was hard to finish, but flavor was good. I wish they provided the noodles hot, but maybe you can on request? Not from OC and I wouldn't say this place is my favorite in the area. Pros: Tucked away in the very back of the strip mall, it's easy to miss. This also means that even on a rainy night, it wasn't packed. There was no wait time at all. The Motto Ramen is chock full of green onions, bamboo, spice etc. They were playing Boyce Avenue, which is a nice band to listen to while eating Cons: No free extra noodles. Although you can purchase more if you'd like Customizable, but not to the extent that I'd like Ambiance is good, but not blow you away incredible TLDR; solid place for some solid Ramen. Customer service wise, one of the guy that works there was very attentive and he made sure to check up on everyone. Place here may be small, but it feels cozy. A lot of families came in on Valentines day to eat here even though it was raining. Decided to get the special ramen here which comes with black garlic oil and so on. The customer service was very sweet and accommodating. I ordered the Classic Motto Ramen which was a flavorful and creamy broth. I'm honestly not a fan of ramen in general but the ramen here was good. My favorite part of the meal was the Chashu. The meat was sooo tender and I would seriously come here again for the Chashu. My boyfriend, who is a huge ramen and spice fanatic, ordered the Special Motto Ramen and he really liked it. Visited the place twice before writing this review. I ordered the Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen and my Girlfriend got the dipping ramen on our first visit. Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen is really creamy, delicious and packed with flavor. The ramen I ordered came with mushrooms, green onions,half an egg, and their super delicious pork chashu. I opted out the bean sprouts for my ramen and they are very flexible with what you want to add or remove. The broth was pretty delicious on its own and it came w/ a nice size portion of noodles. My Girlfriend said that the dipping ramen is also really delicious, she is a picky eater and said that their dipping ramen is very similar to Tsujita in LA. When I tasted it, it was also really good, probably even better than the tonkotsu shoyu ramen that I ordered. All in all, both ramen are good and delicious. We also ordered the karaage as our appetizer and it was crunchy on the outside, and juicy on the inside. They use dark meat for the karaage so it packs a lot of flavor. On our second visit, my girlfriend bought the dipping ramen again and I ordered the chashu fried rice. The fried rice was really flavorful. Some people would be turned off w/ the idea of adding corn to fried rice, or ordering fried rice in a ramen restaurant but every ingredient in the fried rice made the whole thing very fulfilling and they don't skimp out or have their fried rice secondary to their ramen. Their gyoza is nothing special to write about, its just a typical gyoza. All in all, good portions, great tasting broth/ramen. Relaxing environment, booths are spacious, the tables can be a bit cramped when its crowded. We went around 630 PM on a Sunday and weekday night. Can have a waitlist from what I've seen, but we walked in both times. I am not an avid ramen eater, but this place would make me come back for more. read more

It's hard for me to go to a ramen place and not order the ramen so I got their specialty ramen which came with an egg and mushrooms and other fix ins. It was delicious and it was a huge bowl so I was able to have 2 meals out of it by taking half home with me. My mom ordered the karaag chicken and it was crispy on the outside and buttery on the inside. It was so good, she got a second order or it! We also got 2 sides of rice and we didn't let a single grain go to waste. The hot tea was a great compliment to everything. I would say this is probably the best ramen place I've been to in Orange County. (Although not quite as good as slurpin' ramen in Koreantown or Ramen-ya in Las Vegas). We are not Experts at eating Ramen, we know it's a noodles in a broth from experience we had in Hawaii. One of the closest restaurants is Motto Ramen which I had read about in the Orange Magazine. We parked between Target and Motto Ramen and walked in. We were seated at the number one booth and my immediate observation is how squeaky clean this place is....so real Japanese...we ordered water for drinks thinking that there is going to be plenty of soup broth with any Ramen we ordered. The last waitstaff was very attentive and refilled our glasses several times during our luncheon. We saw people come and go and the once just wanting to check the menu walked out and came back. I ordered what the lovely missus ordered, a big white bowl of the Classic Ramen which comes with long yellow curly noodles in a very temperature hot pork broth topped with two thick slices of tender braised pork chashu sprinkled with green onions and a handful of fresh bean sprouts. We were in heaven, it's been a long time since I've had such a flavorful mouthful with every spoon of that broth. The pork chashu was so tender. But I was not finished, I also wanted some of that Chashu Fried Rice that comes with the same pork Chashu all chopped up, fried to a brownish shade with egg, green onions and yellow kernels of corn. Add for red color a dollop of red ginger slices and voila, or excuse me, arrigato for a wonderful and tasty rice dish. Needless to say we had a feast for lunch at Motto Ramen. But why 4 stars? Tried the Motto Special. For the yelper who gave a 3* rating and complained that it's too oily and spicy, read the description. It's based off of another bowl, which is a tonkotsu ramen, and they add chili oil. Don't complain about what you can't handle if that's exactly what you ordered. I came and got exactly what I wanted. I've had bad ramen where they use a light broth and try and thicken it with starches, this place doesn't do that. You'll get a rich broth with noodles cooked al dente. The chili oil is medium strength. It's not unbearable but you'll appreciate your cup of water and clean out your fall sinuses for a few minutes. The broth is great but not the best but the meat is definitely better than other local ramen. It's a thick cut that's savory, sweet, great texture and pulls apart easily. Come here for tonkotsu ramen. The price is a bit higher than I'm used to but reasonable considering the area. Expect to pay about $9-$15+tax and tip, for a bowl of ramen. It's clean, quick service and good food. Ate too much? You can walk around the shopping area with a comic store, Target and Daiso near by. I would be willing to come here again. read more
