We don't eat rolls, so discovering that most of the fish options were restricted after we sat down and ordered was a bit of a surprise. We had a very good experience here. We came a few minutes after they opened on a Saturday and sat down right away which was good since it started to get busy as we were there. The servers were very nice and attentive. The ambiance is nice a bit on the darker side with plenty of tables in different sections. The food was delicious and fresh and came out fairly quickly. Honestly so disappointing. My family and I have frequented this restaurant so many times and this time we truly had the worst experience here. The owner was so rude. My mom simply asked if there was a way to take home leftovers if we couldn't finish the food. the owner came to the table and laughed at us saying they would charge us for every piece left over. She then proceeded to tell us that we had a lot of food on our plates and that she was going to charge us even though we hadn't even finished eating. I asked the owner if we could get some napkins and she proceeded to give us one napkin for the whole table to share because she thought we were going to hide the food in it. My mom then asked her again for more napkins and every time she came around. She glanced over at our table and was counting what we had left. Our server was nice until she wasn't, towards the end I asked her for the check and I asked her if the owner wanted to come around to our table yet again to count what we had left over and she said it was fine. I asked her if we were going to get the dessert that comes with the food and she went to go ask the owner if we were allowed the ice cream, she then proceeds to walk away and serve us the tiniest portion of ice cream, she threw it at our table and walked away. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Be advised that if you eat here they will count every single piece of rice left over. read more

Maru Sushi is located in a large strip mall and has lots of available parking spaces. We went on a Tuesday evening and were able to park right in front of the entrance. It was kind of slow and there were only three or four tables occupied including ours. I would say this is more of a basic sushi restaurant as they don't have a lot of what I would call premium items that my normal sushi place does. We had various nigiri, hand rolls, a few cut rolls, and some shrimp tempura. Everything was good and none of the fish was fishy at all. The carpaccio plate went a little overboard on the toppings. Our server was great and I think one of the owners was also keeping an eye on everything. Our orders came out at an ok pace. The preparation area is a little on the smaller side there were only two sushi chefs. If the restaurant was busy, I would suspect things might get a little slow but maybe they have more chefs on the weekend. I would eat here again when in the area, but I will stick to my number one place. read more

One of my favorite AYCE sushi spots whenever I'm in the OC! A family friend told me about this place, and I always love coming back! There is parking in a shared complex. My favorite is their week day lunch menu! I love getting their udon soup with a side of sushi. For AYCE, my family loves to get nigiri! We always order a lot. They never disappoint! So don't know what ingredients it consists of. - veggie roll came in 5 pieces. In general, they usually come with about 8-10 pieces. Should've used the bamboo mat to make the filling, tighter and more dense, more closely together. Instead of everything falling apart when I go pick it up. Very annoying. The chef was mexican. Got the basics but needs more training & improvements. - didn't see any pickled burdock / gobo root. This adds a nice crunch and it's healthy. Sad to see it missing. My friend and I decided to try this place out for lunch since we were short on time. We are glad we made the visit. The place is spacious and clean. We did 3 rounds of food. This place will charge you if you leave any extra rice on your plate, so we were careful on how much we ordered. They brought our food out pretty quickly. We ordered heavy during the first 2 rounds and less on the 3rd round. We had some sushi as well as some no rice options and sake. My fave were the mackerel, salmon skin salad, baked crawfish, tamago, shrimp boat and TNT. I didn't like the summer roll, albacore onion, and yellowtail. This sushi spot is top notch. It's located off of Goldenwest and McFadden in the same shopping center as Starbucks and Grocery Outlet. They have a great deal on to go orders which gives 20-50% off on all rolls. My order is: Dragon roll, Jalapeño roll, Baked salmon roll, and the Spicy tuna tempora roll. The total bill is less than $50 when ordered to go. The sushi is fresh, and I have eaten there at least 10 times and always have a good experience. I highly recommend this place for high quality sushi that is priced fairly. They also have an all you can eat dining experience that is of great value! i went here with my family the other week because we saw an advertisement and wanted to try it out. it took them over an hour to get us seated although the restaurant was pretty big and there was only one group ahead of us. i think they were only using one section of the restaurant to seat customers. the service wasn't the best it was almost like they were trying to avoid us and they were incredibly slow. we ended up staying almost an hour and a half after they closed because they took so long to serve us the food so we didn't even get to experience their ayce deal we only got one round. i understand that there were only two sushi chefs but it was like they only worked on one tables order at a time. they presented the food like they just wanted to hurry and serve it instead of making it look nice. the waiter apologized and said "here's some ice cream" as if he's not already required to give it to us. im not sure if she was the owner but a lady asked how long we waited for our food and we said and hour and a half and all she said was sorry. my family also owns a restaurant i think if you guys advertise your company you need to make sure you have enough employees first and also ensure good service. most restaurants would provide a complimentary item or give a discount but all we got was an okay meal and bad service. read more
