There were so many different sushi options, as well as ramen, bento boxes, appetizers, drinks, etc. We decided to order ramen and sushi. The ramen we each ordere was the Kuro Mayu. It was good, but not really my preference. The noodles also threw me off because they werent the typical ramen noodles I'm used to. Next time, I'd most likely order a different ramen. The sushi, on the other hand, was pretty good! We ordered a few plates and wanted more but were too full!! My friends also liked the muscles. Our orders came out pretty quickly and staff was kind! It was so fresh and oceany in all the best ways! That udon broth is to die for! The ambiance of the restaurant is one of my favorite things about this place. It really brings you back to a rational Japanese eatery with dark wood accents and lighting. The seating is comfortable and we had plenty enough space for all five of us. The parking in the lot was plentiful as well. Overall, I recommend Kopan and this location specifically. While there might be a lot of other ramen places to choose from in Orange County, Kopan offers more and does everything well.

New favorite omakase meal in OC!…read more For lunch, you can pick the Taberu Lunch Course ($85) which is smaller portion of omakase dishes or the Omakase ($170) with 16 items of chefs choice plus either snow crab porridge or chawanmushi. We picked the $170 Omakase and it was an incredible culinary experience. To start, I would recommend the chawanmushi over the porridge because the porridge seemed slightly under-seasoned. The omakase included dishes like steamed abalone, Kumamoto oyster, Santa Barbara Uni, and many seasonal fish like the Japanese halfbeak (sayori). The dishes were nicely paced and beautifully presented. The mix of sashimi, nigiri sushi, and small cooked dishes was great. Dessert was poached pear, yum. Everyday, the omakase will vary slightly, depending on the fish brought in by vendors. Can't wait to try it again!
