**Review for Bouillon Moulin Restaurant** I dined at the new restaurant, Bouillon Moulin, which is located right next door to the bakery. It has a parking lot out front that was pretty empty on the Sunday evening I went, so parking was stress free. I sat at the bar and had a lovely dinner. Started with a glass of bubbles and the smoked salmon appetizer. The salmon dish comes disassembled with smoked salmon, three pieces of toasted bread, crème fraiche, capers, etc. It's delicious and light and the perfect size for your first course. Next had the steak au poivre frites. It includes a nice sized piece of steak, side of peppercorn sauce, fries, and salad. It's difficult to find an authentic version of this meal in Orange County and this one exceeded all of my expectations. Finally, for dessert I had the profiteroles. Please listen to me carefully when I say this...ORDER THE PROFITEROLES. Seriously, don't ask questions, just order them and thank me later. Delicious pastry puffs filled with vanilla ice cream and topped with chocolate sauce. Amazing. The chocolate sauce was gooey and delicious (NOT the fake processed Hersheys stuff from a bottle -- it's real chocolate!). Overall great first dining experience at this new restaurant. You could tell that the waiter behind the bar was a little nervous and still getting his feet, but he was friendly and trying very hard to do a good job which made up for it. I believe that the restaurant just opened on Wednesday, so I am sure everyone will get in the swing of things as they gain more experience. The owner stopped by to chat about his inspiration for the restaurant and cafes in France. His wife was also there and said hello. I have never tasted worst food in my life. My husband and I got the chicken pesto and the ham and cheese sandwich according to the recommendation the server gave us. My teeth almost fell off trying to bite into my sandwich. The beget was so tough and so stale it might have been sitting out on their shelf for a month. I asked the server to toast my chicken sandwich hoping it would refreshen the bread, but instead said "no, it's cold sandwich, I can't toast it for you" so not only were the sandwiches tasteless and terribly stale, their customer service was terrible. And it tasted off... The do have a small chocolate included with each drink which was a nice touch. My smoked salmon eggs Benedict got brought out to my table and it was also decent. The pastries were very nicely presented, and I opted for a French pastry I forgot the name but was a butter/brown sugar roll very simple but nicely executed, flakey but dense and flavorful buttery and decadent something I would order again. I ordered a croissant breakfast sandwich and it was basically a dry omelet in a croissant which is not how it's described or pictured. My food was ready in time but then it took an extra 20 minutes for my coffee to be ready. It would have been better if my whole order was ready at time of pick up so I didn't have to wait an extra 20 minutes. Great little café. We have been here twice and both times were good experiences. Our first visit we arrived on the later side for lunch and the restaurant was sold out of many of their sandwiches. So be prepared to come early. We ordered the veggie sandwhich which was very good. We also ordered a side salad that had more of a variety of veggies then just lettuce so we were happy with it. The sandwich and salad was enough for us to share. Be prepared for a pricey lunch. This set us back about about $15. Our second visit we arrived earlier, around noon, and all the sandwiches were still available. We ordered the brie and walnut sandwich which was sold out last time we stopped by. It was very good! Even better than the veggie sandwich. The bread it came on was also much better. We learned this was the sandwhich to order! We will probably stop by here again in the near future. They also offer sandwiches for $8, croissants and quiche. My omelette was pretty good. The veggies were fresh. My main issue was the portion was small and the price was high. BTW, the sandwiches seemed small for the price also: 3 Stars mainly due to the price vs the portion. Regarding the ambiance, its a popular place with indoor and outdoor seating. You can see many of the items on the menu, and there are French foods & wine throughout the space: 4 Stars. Likewise, the staff was very friendly and a number of them spoke French. My food arrived in a reasonable amount of time: 4 Stars. 3.5 Stars overall. I'd return, but I would manage my expectations in terms of portion vs price. read more

The bread was fresh, the pesto was great, the chicken was in pieces (so you don't accidentally pull out the entire piece in one bite). Warmed and pressed. HAM & BUTTER SANDWICH was great! They did it right with just butter and no mayo nor mustard. It is very hard to ruin a PAIN AU CHOCOLATE and it didn't here. Their CAFE AU LAIT is just that: cafe Americano with milk despite the server saying it is a latte when asked if they had a latte. I know, it is my own fault. I should have known better, but I decided to give it a try anyway. The market has some great chocolate, cheese, cured meats, wines, etc to choose from. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available. Plenty of free parking in the shopping center that this deli market is located at. Someone (the curators of this place?) thoughtfully provided a fishing game/toy at the fountain for the kids. My family has been coming here for years since we found the place because the food, ambience, and service have always been amazing, but I have to say, this most recent visit, Moulin OUTDID themselves thanks to the efforts of Brennan and Jonah. After breakfast on a busy Sunday morning, I left my Invisalign trays on the table and drove away. Panicked, I turned my car around and found the table had already been cleared and the next party sat. I was so bummed... those trays are expensive. Brennan saw me looking around the dish bucket, and HE initiated the conversation asking me what I was looking for. When I told him my Invisalign, he immediately called Jonah over because he knew the two of them SAVED THE INVISALIGN and packed them neatly in a to-go box! I was beyond thrilled, and more so blown away two young guys would have the care, integrity, and above-and-beyond nature to do that. Their apricot danish is very tasty. It doesn't have much custard and the apricot is not too sweet. The danish dough is not too crispy. Their omelettes are fluffy, soft, and perfectly cooked and come with a side of toast with marmalade and salad.
