Ordered the duck confit, and good portion for $22! Tender and delicious, was a little afraid it's gonna be dry. Skin was crispy, and meat was flavorful. Came with potatoes, which were also great. Saw someone ordered the same dish but replaced potatoes with vegetables, so that's an option for those on keto. Friend ordered steak and frites, and it was decent but not "oh wow it's amazing" delicious. Hopped to the cafe beside the restaurant after to look at pastries and desserts. When you order online the description and picture is different than what you get. I ordered a croissant breakfast sandwich and it was basically a dry omelet in a croissant which is not how it's described or pictured. My food was ready in time but then it took an extra 20 minutes for my coffee to be ready. It would have been better if my whole order was ready at time of pick up so I didn't have to wait an extra 20 minutes. **Review for Bouillon Moulin Restaurant** I dined at the new restaurant, Bouillon Moulin, which is located right next door to the bakery. It has a parking lot out front that was pretty empty on the Sunday evening I went, so parking was stress free. I sat at the bar and had a lovely dinner. Started with a glass of bubbles and the smoked salmon appetizer. The salmon dish comes disassembled with smoked salmon, three pieces of toasted bread, crème fraiche, capers, etc. It's delicious and light and the perfect size for your first course. Next had the steak au poivre frites. It includes a nice sized piece of steak, side of peppercorn sauce, fries, and salad. It's difficult to find an authentic version of this meal in Orange County and this one exceeded all of my expectations. Finally, for dessert I had the profiteroles. Please listen to me carefully when I say this...ORDER THE PROFITEROLES. Seriously, don't ask questions, just order them and thank me later. Delicious pastry puffs filled with vanilla ice cream and topped with chocolate sauce. Amazing. The chocolate sauce was gooey and delicious (NOT the fake processed Hersheys stuff from a bottle -- it's real chocolate!). Overall great first dining experience at this new restaurant. You could tell that the waiter behind the bar was a little nervous and still getting his feet, but he was friendly and trying very hard to do a good job which made up for it. I believe that the restaurant just opened on Wednesday, so I am sure everyone will get in the swing of things as they gain more experience. The owner stopped by to chat about his inspiration for the restaurant and cafes in France. His wife was also there and said hello. The only reason I'm giving this place 4/5 stars is their limitations on vegetarian/ vegan options, everything else was amazing. From delicious pastries to wonderful customer service I understand why this place was so crowded. The line was way out the door and all of the employees were working together in such a great unit, their positive energy definitely rubbed off on those around. I wish I would've gone earlier in the day to get a better look at their pastries but everything I did see and tried was great. I ended up getting a cherry tart, canelés (which were so good I ate them before I thought to take a picture) and the veggie omelet. Pastries were a 10/10 but the omelet didn't wow me in any way. My family has been coming here for years since we found the place because the food, ambience, and service have always been amazing, but I have to say, this most recent visit, Moulin OUTDID themselves thanks to the efforts of Brennan and Jonah. After breakfast on a busy Sunday morning, I left my Invisalign trays on the table and drove away. Panicked, I turned my car around and found the table had already been cleared and the next party sat. I was so bummed... those trays are expensive. Brennan saw me looking around the dish bucket, and HE initiated the conversation asking me what I was looking for. When I told him my Invisalign, he immediately called Jonah over because he knew the two of them SAVED THE INVISALIGN and packed them neatly in a to-go box! I was beyond thrilled, and more so blown away two young guys would have the care, integrity, and above-and-beyond nature to do that. The food in this restaurant called Bouillon owned by Moulin is largely good but the way we had $21 tacked on to our menu for a dab of caviar is dishonest. My wife ordered the bream which was stated to cost $29, and the waiter asker my wife "Do you want the caviar that comes with it?" She said yes and when we got the bill there was $21 tacked on for this. Nowhere on the menu was this given and the price was hidden until we got the bill. Frankly this is simple unvarnished cheating. Great little café. We have been here twice and both times were good experiences. Our first visit we arrived on the later side for lunch and the restaurant was sold out of many of their sandwiches. So be prepared to come early. We ordered the veggie sandwhich which was very good. We also ordered a side salad that had more of a variety of veggies then just lettuce so we were happy with it. The sandwich and salad was enough for us to share. Be prepared for a pricey lunch. This set us back about about $15. Our second visit we arrived earlier, around noon, and all the sandwiches were still available. We ordered the brie and walnut sandwich which was sold out last time we stopped by. It was very good! Even better than the veggie sandwich. The bread it came on was also much better. We learned this was the sandwhich to order! We will probably stop by here again in the near future. Their apricot danish is very tasty. It doesn't have much custard and the apricot is not too sweet. The danish dough is not too crispy. Their omelettes are fluffy, soft, and perfectly cooked and come with a side of toast with marmalade and salad. Service is fast but I wouldn't expect friendly because they are super busy especially over the weekend. But they are attentive. The ambiance is cute for its French style and cute outdoor seating. They also offer sandwiches for $8, croissants and quiche. My omelette was pretty good. The veggies were fresh. My main issue was the portion was small and the price was high. BTW, the sandwiches seemed small for the price also: 3 Stars mainly due to the price vs the portion. Regarding the ambiance, its a popular place with indoor and outdoor seating. You can see many of the items on the menu, and there are French foods & wine throughout the space: 4 Stars. Likewise, the staff was very friendly and a number of them spoke French. The bread was fresh, the pesto was great, the chicken was in pieces (so you don't accidentally pull out the entire piece in one bite). Warmed and pressed. HAM & BUTTER SANDWICH was great! They did it right with just butter and no mayo nor mustard. It is very hard to ruin a PAIN AU CHOCOLATE and it didn't here. Their CAFE AU LAIT is just that: cafe Americano with milk despite the server saying it is a latte when asked if they had a latte. I know, it is my own fault. I should have known better, but I decided to give it a try anyway. The market has some great chocolate, cheese, cured meats, wines, etc to choose from. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available. Plenty of free parking in the shopping center that this deli market is located at. Someone (the curators of this place?) thoughtfully provided a fishing game/toy at the fountain for the kids. He saw a cherry tart available even though it was close to 3 p.m. when Moulin closes. The cherry tart looked fabulous. It was a seasonal offering. Cherry is my favorite berry. My husband bought the tart without hesitation. When I saw it, it made my birthday. The tart was delicious, beautiful, and it had just the right amount of sweetness. I've been waiting to try Moulin for the longest time. Came by during lunch time, it was a little crowded. They currently offer Patio seating and takeout. Service was really friendly and the store was very clean. We ordered the French Onion Soup, Croque Madame, chicken pesto sandwich, Niçoise Salad, Cafe Au Lait, and a double espresso shot. The French onion soup was very good and flavorful. The only thing I could say is, the cheese did not taste like a Gruyere cheese traditionally used in a French onion soup and I wish the cheese was a little burnt. Who doesn't love burnt cheese. The Croque Madame came with an option with either fresh side of fruits or a side of salad, I picked the fruits. The sandwich reminded me of a grilled cheese, but tastier. The side of fruits were delicious, it had the perfect sweetness. The Chicken Pesto sandwich had the perfect texture, the bread was crunchy and pillowy soft in the inside. The Niçoise Salad was probably my least favorite. The dressing was okay, but the butter lettuce was good. The Cafe Au Lait and espresso were light, I wish it was a little more fragrant. Fancy pants French comes with a price tag, but for a weekday lunch you can potentially run into a lady or two from Housewives of the OC. They serve a really really really good French Onion soup. Baguettes are solid, ham and cheese sandwichs like at the Metro stops in Paris. I have not tried hot entrees, but the Brussels sprouts are good. They're basically set up as a deli counter on the left side of the store. Order from the case and scoot down the line and pay at the end. They have some quick pastry options at the end like croissant. Coffees come out in the other side next to the sundries or are delivered to your table. The middle of the store and the left side have a assortment French products and grocery, all of which can be purchased at the bakery register on the right side of the store. Theses change seasonally which is neat. The baked goods are good. I have not been a fan of some of the fancy experimental things like the pistachio roll or the mango thing, something odd about the texture and sometimes the flavor combo. Breads are solid. The baguette holds up at room temp for a couple days like it's supposed to. The traditional pastry are where it's at. Try the Tropizene cake, tiramisu, any of the tarts and they are delicious. The make a beautiful flaky butter perfect almond Marzipan Gallete de Rois for January. It apparently comes in small but by Jan 10 they only had 10" which for me is the 'normal' size. One is the meal section and the other is the pastry section. This place gets pretty packed during lunch time. I've tried the Le Croque Madame and the Crêpe Complète. Out of the two, i think i prefer the madame. both will come with a small side salad, i believe if you want to substitute fruit, it'll cost you a dollar extra. They also have a daily special for around 15 bucks.
