I came here for their Knock Knock Flight. If you're an espresso/cold brew fan, this is for you. However, I'm an iced latte girly and these drinks were way too strong for me. The Knock Knock is an upscale version of a Ding Dong. They were good, but too sweet for me. My kids loved it though! And their chocolate chip cookie was outstanding. My husband even made a comment on how good it was.
Tried their lentil soup (cup version) - this was good and hearty. Baguette pieces were a bit stale but dipped with the soup, it was fine. There was good seating. Several tables inside and outside. I did not expect the soup to come with several baguette pieces so that was nice. I was eyeing the spinach artichoke pastry and other pastries in the pastry display case. Super convenient that this bakery is located in Fashion Island. Will be coming back for their pastries.
While shopping at @Fashion Island! , stopped by a bakery cafe called @Scratch Bakery Cafe , oh I over ordered! It's okay because I was in a comfortable space that welcomed me with great drinks, baked goods, breakfast, sandos and salads. If you want a guaranteed casual delicious spot to eat, get a latte or grab a snack, SCRATCH needs to be on your list. It's right between Bloomingdale's and Neiman Marcus. That Salmon Salad was perfection, loved the flavors of the salad and salmon fillet paired so well. Get any their breakfast sandwich on the Manna Bun because that fluffy bun is sooo delicious. Their sandwiches in any form has proven to be incredible from their Spicy Chicken on a French Roll or a Ruben on Marbel, it's yummy! Get their French Fries too because it's coated and extra crispy. It's a great spot for Mother's Day! Tyler the manager and his team are simply pro! Great service and attentive!

What really would've taken the burrito to the next level is the addition of a vegan egg option like Just Egg. That extra layer would've made the burrito exceptional rather than simply very good. Still, even without it, the burrito was flavorful, hearty, and satisfying enough that I'd order it again. One thoughtful touch is that the burrito is served cut in half, which works well if you're dining in. However, if you plan to customize it further or add your own ingredients, it's probably best to request that it not be cut in half beforehand.

Knock Knocks: Classic - the institute was pretty solid when I had it, so I was a tad bit disappointed because I was hoping it would be soft like a hostess cake. However, I took the second one home and when I ate it later, it was the exact same consistency I wanted!! Bananas Foster - I was a little worried, because the flavour profile would be delicious, but so much could go wrong with the fresh banana and banana bread. However, the cake was moist and the bananas were not overwhelming; instead of slices of fresh banana, it was bits and spread in a nice layer. Dubai - thought I would really like this, but it was too rich for me. I mean, I still enjoyed it, but I could only have a corner cause it was so rich. Each coffee was unsweetened and were a good match for each sweet treat. I would probs swap the cold brew from Dubai to the coconut one and the macchiato to the Dubai bite. And have I mentioned Sam? The staff is always great, but Sam really went above and beyond for me.
Scratch Bakery and Cafe is absolutely delicious. Any time I am at Fashion Island I must stop by for their oatmeal chocolate chip cookie! They also have great drinks, food, and customer service. I love that they have indoor and patio seating and a great view of the fountain which often provides a relaxing atmosphere. I tried the avocado salad for the first time and was very impressed. The chicken was so soft and tender and the lemon vinaigrette paired with the flavors perfectly. They have so many great pastries, I highly recommend giving them a try.

This bakery/cafe is located at Fashion Island. After finishing a nearby appointment, I came here for an early lunch on a weekday. It's a fast casual cafe where you order at the counter. The bakery items all looked wonderful but I was after one of their sandwiches and chose a breakfast sandwich plate - the Monte Cristo. I also purchased a large hot vanilla latte. There are only 6 or 7 tables inside, far too few. There are a number of outdoor tables but on this cold and windy day the indoor tables were all taken. I had been given a number for my order delivery to be placed on my table. As I worriedly eyed the prospect of having to sit outside, a small table inside became vacant and I quickly pounced on it. While they deliver your food to your table, they call your name to pick up your drinks. When they called my name to pick up my latte at the counter, I sprinted there and back before someone else took my table. The latte was served far too hot. I couldn't drink it during my meal so carried it with me after I finished eating. It took about half an hour before I could even sip it. It was a standard but solid vanilla latte, nothing out of the ordinary. As far as my meal, the Monte Cristo wasn't a TRUE monte cristo. Honestly, I think the only place to find a real deep fried one around here is at Disneyland. But this faux Monte Cristo had the proper components - a French toast sandwich with melted cheese, turkey, and ham. They had syrup for dipping rather than the traditional berry jam. It was admittedly very delicious. The hash brown on the plate was exceptional - perfectly crisp outside with soft potato inside. You'd think that, surrounded by wonderful bakery items, the employees would seem happy but no, not a single smile. Maybe they all burned their tongues on the coffee.

Came here for a quick dessert and the Knock Knock cake was very good. Chocolatey with ganache on the outside and creamy with buttercream on the inside. Perfect combo! The bakery cafe is full of delicious-looking cookies and breads. Would definitely come back for another visit when craving for some sweets.
Egg sandwich with the MANA BREAD was so buttery with a loaded amount of eggs!! The bacon was thin but pretty crispy and the bread was very fluffy. It felt like an English muffin with more pillowy thickness. The COFFEE and KNOCK KNOCK FLIGHT is a must. Each flavor is unique and delicious! I expected a sugar overload with random coffee pairings but the thoughtfulness behind the flight is appreciated. The drinks were different types of espresso to milk ratios with little to no sweetness to balance out each flavor of knock knock! Wow! The trip exceeded my expectations. The egg sandwich on their special bread was absolutely perfect. A good amount of buttery eggs and crispy bacon wrapped in light and fluffy bread. The flight of coffee with the pastries was so much fun! Or only do you get sample many different knock knock flavors, but you also get to try a nice variety of hot and cold coffee. The pairings are also well done in that they do actually complement one another. The restaurant is clean and the service was great! We grabbed some cinnamon rolls to go which we'll have tomorrow morning. They look and smell amazing. This place is worth a visit! read more
It's easy to overlook, but definitely worth stopping in. They really lean into the "from scratch" concept, and it shows. The food feels a bit lighter compared to other options nearby, which I appreciate when I'm walking around and don't want something too heavy. The iced lavender milk tea stood out to me, and the breakfast burrito was also a hit (kid approved). They also have a full pastry case -- I loved the chocolate croissant, and their "knock knocks" are a fun take on a ding dong. There's indoor seating and a small outdoor patio, which is nice in the late afternoon. What really stood out though was the staff -- everyone was genuinely kind and you can tell they care about what they're doing. My friend and I usually come here for a post-workout pastry and coffee catch-up, but this was our first time grabbing a bite to eat. This is a fairly simple review as I only came here to try one thing: their distinctive Knock Knock, which is a chocolate-coated chocolate cake with a creamy center. It was served chilled. It was delicious and indulgent and definitely freshly made. The cake was soft and moist, the chocolate coating thick and tasty, the cream creamy. I would describe the Knock Knock as a Twinkie on steroids. I went there at the end of the day so the cafe was empty, yet pleasant. It has a nice environment. The gentleman behind the counter who served me was friendly. I'm not sure I would try the Knock Knock again, as there were other pastries and baked goods that looked great. An added plus for Newport Beach: their prices were reasonable for the quality of items being sold. I'll try something else on my next visit. read more

The Wife and I went to fashion Friday decided to eat at scratch bakery Café I had the Italian on French roll. It was wonderful delicious mortadella, salami provolone roasted red peppers with oil and vinegar dressing. The sandwich was amazing. I tried their Redskin potato salad delicious I can't remember what my wife had because mine taste so good. I wasn't interested. They greeted us took our order very pleasant. Not bad- handy spot for a pick me up while scooting around fashion island. My oat milk latte and plain croissant were perfectly fine. Busy scene with shoppers but service is still pretty quick. Came in for the first time today. They have a pretty generous menu for a bakery. + I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly my burger came out. And it was really good. The sauce on it was giving IN-N-OUT spread which I did not mind at all. I don't get tomatoes or onion on my burger so they put a lot of pickles which was a-okay! And my fries were really crispy, which is rare for fries these days. I'd come def back to try more tings! read more

Came here to try their coffee flight with "knock knocks" and let me tell you, they were strong, unsweetened coffees. So if you like sweet coffee this might not be for you. They did pair well with their knock knocks tho. My favorite was the Banana Foster knock knock, pairs so well with coffee in my opinion. Such a wonderful restaurant in Newport. I've never had knock knocks but I'm impressed. Think of a better version of hostess but not as sugary but still delicious. Decadent is the perfect way to describe it. I also love their salmon kale salad. It was crispy and flavorful. Food came out within 15 mins and outdoor seating was nice on a summer day.
