Don't think there was a beer he didn't like but then again think that may be hard to find. Lol. No kid menu so we went with the large pretzel appetizer which she enjoyed. It is s brewery after all so not quite catering to the kids. Very spacious outdoor space so they can serve lots of people. We went for lunch so not many tables being served with only 1 bartender/server. She was nice enough and attentive but nothing memorable if you are coming for food. Try LEGAL Weed Or so says the bottle cap from Mount Shasta Brewing Company (MSBC). Gayle and I stopped here for Lunch on the way to Ashland. She knows that I'll pretty much go to anyplace that uses the words Brew and Pub in the same sentence. And she was game since the relatives of one of her coworkers runs the place. This place is close to the Freeway and a little difficult to find at the same time. The outside is a bit industrial and unassuming, but once inside, the rustic bar (and the stuffed animal above) grab you and invite you to sit down and stay awhile. And later on, one of the owners (Vaune Dillmann who is from my Mom's home neighbourhood in Milwaukee) sat down with us and talked about his business, his beer, and his battle with the ATF regarding his Legal Weed. Drinking beer here could hardly be confused with illegal drug use, and if you look more closely at MSBC's offerings, you'll notice lots of whimsy in their names. Examples include: Abner Weed Amber Ale (founder of the town of Weed and a CA state Senator); Weed Golden Ale (named after the town), Mountain High IPA (because MSBC sits high on the apron of Mt. Shasta); Shastafarian Porter (named for the many groups that focus on our great Mt. Shasta); and Lemurian Lager (named after the elusive beings in local folklore who inhabit Mt. Shasta). However, when I first tasted the before mentioned IPA, I immediately broke out in a familiar old John Denver song. So why 5 Stars? It's a total that exceeds the sum of all parts. I'll stipulate that our sandwiches were only very good and that the service was a bit slow at times. Yet when you put the food, the atmosphere, friendly service, Vaune's family welcome (along with a bottle of Lemurian Lager), funky confines, the great bar, and a really comfortable community lodge atmosphere, one can only conclude that: A Friend in Weed, is a Friend Indeed! read more

My husband appreciates local craft beer, so we stopped by on the way to Crater Lake. We got a flight of 4 and some food. The Butcher's Plate and Salad (with Cranberries and Goat Cheese, can't remember what it's called) were pretty good. The pickled veggies were a little too tart but the cheeses were amazing! I'm confused ?? When you enter Mt. Shasta Brewery everything on the 22oz bottles, walls, hats, and t-shirts reads Weed ales. This is a clever marketing because the beer is made in the town of Weed, however, putting Weed on the outside of your bottle has nothing to do with what's inside. If I want weed I'll roll a joint. Ordered the sampler as usual so me and the wife could pick a pint to have with lunch. The beers were average, but the sampler was pretty big. The IPA had little sent or flavor. The beer was thick and seemed like the brewer loaded up on malt to hide the alcohol flavor neglecting to balance the beer with hops. My wife found the wheat beer to be above average which is a plus because she hardly finds something she likes. I settled for the Golden beer because it tasted fresh and light. The service was very good. The poor woman working behind the bar was all by herself and worked really hard keeping up with the lunch crowd. The food left something to be desired, we shared a quesadilla that looked like it was constructed from Costco ingredients. Average small brewery, I'll probably stop by again. read more

Don't go there for service. The beer was good. We chose this restaurant because it was a Harvest Host. Raspberry Sour and Abner Weed beers were very good. While we're there, the appetizer we ordered to go with the flight was not available. We had to flag the waitress on three different occasions to order a pint, dinner, and get silverware. I watched what appeared to be a mother and son get up and walk out after 15 minutes of waiting for someone to take their order. My husbands sandwich came, which was good, and my salad had been served to someone else. It is a cute and quaint setting. Lots of room between tables and the beer is good. read more

This was probably the best Ruben Sandwich and salad we've ever had (made by Zack). We also had one of their brews: Their Golden Ale is excellent. This was our destination. Or at least the most south we would be driving on this mini road trip. That destination was Weed, CA and our first brewery stop at Mount Shasta Brewing Co. We really only stopped for a beer and some light food so there isn't much more I can write about this place. I did have my first check in ever here and was rewarded with $1 of my first (and only) beer. We also had chips and salsa ($5). The chips came out of a bag and were meh. The salsa (made in house I believe) had tomatoes, onion, sweet yellow corn, black beans, fresh cilantro and jalapeños. Pretty damn good. Get some better chips and you have yourself a nice snack. Not sure there is much else to do in Weed. We were here pretty early on a weekday afternoon. Would like to check this place out when there are actually people here. I'm sure it would be a good time. I should mention I had the Weed Golden Ale. It was about 100 degrees when we arrived and I thought a nice light (in body) ale would help relieve some of the heat. It certainly did. read more

Wow! We came in on a otherwise dead night. They were going to use early but turned everything back on when we walked in. Jordan, our server, was great. I asked for a sandwich to be warmed that's not usually...he said they'd try and if I didn't like it, they'd make something else. Problem was, it was DELICIOUS! He was super friendly, while we were waiting he even went out and shoveled a path to both sides of the car for us and the baby!! Blown away! I wish service went back to times like this. read more

I wish I could give two ratings for this place: food & beer quality and a separate one for pricing. Food & Beer Quality - yummy on all fronts. Some of the lager & ales were a bit lighter than I prefer but the IPA and darker brews were spot on. Nice beers though and they have a winner on all stops along the beer spectrum. Pricing - food was about $2-3 more than I had expected per plate but darn $20 for a beer sampler? Really? $12-14 would have been much more reasonable. I enjoyed tasting 9 beers but with 2 ounce pours, that's very expensive beer. We wanted to sit outside with our dogs and while its allowed, we couldnt do it. There's a leash ordinance and we were prepared but..... the suburban of locals with 3 dogs (2 pit bulls) abused that ordinance. They had ropes around their dogs neck to qualify as a leash but let them run wild with it around the parking lot. That's not what the leash ordinance means - based on their grooming and appearance, maybe reading wasnt their strong suit. Combined Pricing & Dog experience: 1 star. Come back? A nice cozy spot In the mountains to stop for a cold pint. Peta members and environmentalist beware, I think most of the patrons are members of the NRA. I really am glad that I wasn't going to try to eat here, I'm sure the food is alright but the menu is limited. For me this place will always be a great beer pit stop. It's right off the freeway so if your just passing through you can stop in and have a pint, it's best to have a designated driver. I picked up some 22oz bottles to go. A 22oz victory beer for the long drive home and a good place to stretch your legs. The beer is great. read more

So sad to see this establishment go downhill in service, quality and options. After waiting for over an hour and watching everyone else that came behind us eat, we left. They said our food was ready if we still wanted to pay and take it as we left. Never refilled drinks, checked on us or offered snacks. No appetizers were available as they were out. They had chips and salsa but never offered us a thing. This place was always our fav to stop at but the past few times it's gone downhill. We had to pay for our drink and leave hungry as heck. The Mount Shasta Brewing Company is trying out a pub menu. It is not obvious, there are no menus or signboard. You have to ask for it at the bar. We found out because we asked if they are now serving food. On the menu are hot dogs and brats and nachos. Not on the menu, again you have to ask, were two varieties of wraps. We ordered one of each. Both the turkey wrap and the Thai chicken wrap were good. The wraps are served with either potato chips or a very tasty three bean salad. Food is served on paper plates with plastic forks. The wraps were $6.00 each. The beer is great. Thursday and Friday nights they now offer Blue Grass music starting at 7 p.m. read more

This review is actually for the Weed Ale House which is located onsite at this brewery. I took a group of coworkers there while in the area for business and we all throughly enjoyed the place and food. They have a very extensive menu and a lot of interesting sounding beers on tap, will have to come back to try some of those. The food was delicious and freshly prepared and the service was outstanding. The only draw back is the place is not air conditioned as it has an open space atmosphere, but it wasn't that hot and there was a portable AC unit and so it wasn't that bad. This place is a MUST if you are anywhere in the area, or just traveling through. This place has first-class, award winning micro-brew. No, really, award winning! Shastafarian Porter and Mountain High IPA have both won awards for their excellence. In addition to a full line up of brews, the tasting room frequently puts out a few Seasonal selections, and once in a while an experimental brew (Jalepeno what?). My current favorite brew is the Sterke Ale, but the Porter and the Amber are both fantastic. Make sure to take a bit home with you, with their Growlers. $20 for a new one, or $10 for a refill. read more

Beer was ok. Stopped to take a break after taking highway 17 over from Weaverville. My friends order the porter and said it was ok. It's was good, but nothing really remarkable about it. I had the Golden Ale and found it a touch too hoppy/bitter. Granted I'm not a fan of IPAs because of the bitterness. If you're a fan of IPAs and want something on the milder side, this beer would be fine. Needed some food after being on the road for almost 5 hours. Glad we stopped here. Staff are super friendly, courteous, and professional. Good beers. We had the Mount Shasta Mountain High IPA and a Skip & Go Naked. Both were perfect parings with lunch. The Cuban Panini went well with the IPA. The Clubhouse on a croissant was good with The Skip.
