Thankfully I've never had to use their services...but they almost caused me to need a tow truck...and an ambulance tonight when the driver of one of their trucks blew through the stop sign coming up waters at crest forest doing about 40 MPH...I was in the intersection turning left onto waters from Nardi and he had to slam on his brakes and I had to step on the gas to get out of the way of a possibly horrible incident. Driving a car I'm not used to on a mountain I'm not used to. Was stuck on the side of a cliff in a blind turn getting missed by cars by two and three inches. Called AAA and explained danger me and my daughter were in and that i needed gas but had no cash. They dispatched this tow company, saying i was top priority. I got a phone call thirty minutes later, the lady was extremely rude, refused to bring 2 gallons of gas because i didn't have cash, told me that i "should have thought of that before driving up the hill." And "I should have bought a premium AAA membership." YOU DON'T SAY! I was too infuriated to complete the call and luckily a good Samaritan happened by. This lady should be nowhere near a job helping people and whoever hired her should be reconsidering that decision. Called AAA at Noon to get my vehicle towed down the hill for transmission work, AAA gave me a 45 min window for the tow truck. Shortly after I got a call from mountain towing telling me it will be 1 1/2 hours if I want to go down the hill, but they can come right now if I get the work done at their shop. (Which I'm pretty sure is against AAA's rules and regulations) I told them I didn't want to go to their shop and I will wait, and wait I did... they didn't get my car on the tow truck until 3:45. That's 3 HOURS and 45 MIN I told the driver my car has transmission problems and can't move under its own power so it will need to be dropped off in the shops yard. Showed up to the shop and he had just dropped it on the side of the street in front of the shop and took off. So we had to push it into the shop. read more

All 3 days after waiting MULTIPLE hours, they say "we have no trucks" or "our flatbed is broke". That's not the bad part. Today is the 4th day, same thing. Every experience with Mountain Towing has been terrible since my first experience with them 3 years ago. I even had a negative experience yesterday when I called for a tow truck at 11 am and was informed at 4 pm that they weren't coming so I'd need to call back tomorrow. This caused my man to miss work last night. We called today. Ben showed up faster than expected. He single handedly changed my mind about this business. He was professional and polite. We enjoyed a pleasant conversation on the drive down to San Bernardino tire shop that I needed to go to. He surpassed all expectations. So based on my previous experiences with this business, they'd get 1 star. Ben's service today deserves 5 stars. So I'm giving 3 stars. They need to hire more people like Ben to have a good standing in the mountain communities instead of being hated like they currently are. read more

My vehicle was stuck in soft ground and first he tried to guide me via FaceTime to save us both the hassle of actually driving out to me AND dinging my AAA plan, which I seriously appreciated. He ended up having to come out and use the winch to get me freed, and he had the absolute best attitude and was super helpful. On 10/24/2021 I managed to get stuck on a dirt road in Cedarpines Park and would have to pay out of pocket. Unsavory Juan from Mountain Auto Service arrived saying the cost would be $300.00! He needed to use his winch to pull it up the hill otherwise he would leave me there. Then he stated he would do it for $250.00 cash instead when I objected to the price. (I wondered if he would even have reported the transaction to his boss.) He proceeded to hook a chain around the back axle to straighten out the car and then rolled it down the hill. He somehow thought he had ingratiated himself with me. In the meantime, I have reported everything to AAA and will work to see them removed from AAA services. read more

I am being generous when I give Mountain Auto Service 2 stars. This is my 2nd experience with them and they have not improved at all. AAA dispatched them to help me with my dead car battery. I called first thing in the morning and by 8:20 AAA had text me that a technician had been dispatched. Well, 3 hours later, 12:13, I called AAA and they advised me the driver could not find my address and called to let me know. Well, there wasn't a recent call on my cell phone. And I dont have a home phone. They didnt have the courtesy to let me know they couldn't find my address, just left me hanging. Dispatch was unprofessional and rude called asking for a tow less than a mile and only a few miles away from their main office. Was going to cost an insane amount and was going to 2 hours. I understand list of priority and all that but I called right when the hours say they open and it's still a 2 hour wait. Asked dispatch again about the price and hung up on me. This is the second time I have had bad service with them but being one a very small companies on the mountain I didn't have much choice but to try them again which lead to the experience above. If i could give these Morons negative stars I would. On December 19th, our 1996 Nissan Pathfinder broke down in Crestline going up the mountain right before Hortencias. We called AAA and they Send these MORONS from MOUNTAIN AUTO SERVICE & TOWING. The driver was definitely tweaking because he was chewing the shit out of a piece of gum THAT WASNT EVEN IN HIS MOUTH. He tried to be as conspicuous as possible but he was a total blow it. He pulls up and got out and he felt that he didnt leave himself enough room to do whatever he had to do in order to load our vehicle up. So he gets into my truck, releases the emergency brake and he lets my truck roll back around 5-10 feet. He gets out of my truck and forgot to set the emergency brake and the truck starts rolling back. My mom who was there with me and watched the whole thing starts saying "the truck the truck." When i turn around to notice, i see Mr. Chopper running after my truck desperately trying to jump in and stop it...But it was too late. Our vehicle smashed right into his truck and it destroys my passenger side tail light. As soon as my mom and i catch our breath and realize what had happened, we made sure JABBER JAW was ok and we were on our way. I called the office 10 minutes later and spoke to Jessie. I told her everything that happened, and she informed me that she was calling the driver to bring my vehicle to their shop so that they could assess the damages and she assured me that one of the BOZOS there would be giving me a call back to discuss what happened and to talk to me about what the next step would be. Well i never recieved that phone call. A few hours later i called yet again and spoke to Jessie. I asked her what the head BOZO there said about the damage to my truck and asked to speak to him. She first informed me that he was not there so i asked her what they assessed the damage at? She told me that she was not at liberty to talk about it and that the she would make sure that the head MORON would call me... Well im still waiting for that call. I have called 4 other times since then and everytime have been told that the person i need to talk to was not in the office. The MORONS that answer the phones are so worried about who is calling and how i had the audacity to be calling their shop and asking to talk to someone, instead of trying to just listen and shut the fuck up. Its like i was calling and asking to speak to the pope or some secret agent man. So i get onto Facebook tonight and find their business and i put them on blast and ask why i hadn't heard from anyone. Great service and very friendly people! My boyfriend and I took a day trip over to Lake Arrowhead yesterday for the holiday, and had a small (unexpected) fender bender. However, while stuck on an icy road without cell phone reception, Dean (one of the drivers) happened to see us on his lunch break, and helped pull our car off the main road. About 45 mins. later a few other drivers were able to pick is us up and bring our car back to their office. Being a holiday, all of the autobody shops were closed, but the whole office was very friendly, courteous, and worked hard to help alleviate the situation including a 90 min. drive back to LA. We're very thankful they saw us (and were open on a holiday) to help us get home safely. Especially on a cold winter day without cell phone reception. Thank you! read more

We needed brakes on our Rover, so I called AAA to get it towed to a buddies shop. AAA is connected with Mountain Auto Service and Towing Inc. I told the tow truck driver that the rover has no brakes. Well as you can see in this video that he didn't listen. We contacted the owner Mike and he wanted to get the facts from the tow driver. He called us back and the driver told him there was minimal to no damage. We informed him there was damage and we had a video. He advised us to bring our Rover in. We brought it in and he assessed the Rover and we agreed that only the bumper was damaged. Also, showed him the video and had no response to it. As far as the other car he wouldn't even go down to check on it. (I don't even know the other owner). He told the owner to get an estimate of the damages. When he did the owner, Mike, told him that the estimate was too high and he wasn't going to fix it. Fast forward two months later and still no call on replacing the bumper. We gave them ample amount of time to fix it since the owner did not want us contacting AAA. Being that we are a small community we wanted to give him the respect to handle it on his own. Called them today ( after almost 4 months of waiting and the lady who answered the phone said I don't know what you are talking about. We informed her again of the situation and she still said sorry didn't happen. Informed her we are contacting AAA. Was told by her that AAA doesn't care and won't do anything about it either. You could not choose a worse company to deal with. They picked up my Focus on behalf of Ford Roadside Assistance and damaged the front end of my vehicle. They showed up with a vehicle already on the flatbed so they used the rear tow forks that extend out beyond the rear of the towtruck. In doing so, the driver damaged the front valance and a piece that attaches to the radiator. When I submitted a claim with FRA, the owner Mike lied to them and stated they used the flatbed for my car and they didn't damage it. I have three witnesses that saw them arrive with a Ford SUV already on the flatbed and that they used the tow forks. Needless to say it ended up costing me $1200 to fix. You can go to RimRants and other FB pages and you will find they have a terrible reputation and have damaged numerous peoples vehicles. Use at your own risk. And if you must, then take pictures and video showing the date of your vehicle when they come to pick it up. But it would be best to steer FAR away from them. I've attached two pics, the first shows the damage (you can't see the damage to the piece attached to the radiator underneath), the second shows what its supposed to look like after I spent $1200 fixing it. read more

Roxxanne always makes sure every bit of information is exchanged and they get the job done without any issues. VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS COMPANY! They sent a tow truck to tow a broken car in my driveway. The driver of the tow truck didn't secure the truck properly and if run down my driveway breaking trees and damaging the pavement and side of my driveway. CLEAR NEGLIGENCE. They had to send another tow truck to rescue the first tow truck. THEY LEFT MY DRIVEWAY AND TREES DAMAGED. I got a professional company to prepare an estimate to repair the area and mountain towing says that it is too expensive and that they will not pay for it. Two months into it, the owner does not get on the phone and when we asked the lady who picks up the phone about alternatives, she said while laughing that the ONLY OTHER OPTION THAT WE HAVE IS TO SUE THEM. It might be that this company doesn't carry liability insurance to cover for this clear negligence, because which asked for such information and she that she did not have insurance information handy... again two months after the accident happened. Let's see what AAA has to say about having this negligent company associated with their brand. Will also have to rely on the Better Business Bureau BBB for help. What a great Experience I had with Mountain auto service. My girlfriend had her car get stuck in the snow, what's worse is we came home to a flat tire. So my girlfriend called triple a and asked them for help on an incline to change our tire to the spare we had, well the operator said " Mountain auto will call you " After that call my girlfriend looked up the reviews and we were horrified. 2 and a half stars. About 30 minutes of waiting, my girlfriend gets anxious and wants to change the service to use, she goes outside to make the call and Juan shows up there, he's very polite saying sorry this happened to you, how's your day, and being very polite to us. He got everything fixed in about 5 minutes was amazing , so I've made a call and wrote this review to tell you this : Don't listen to the negativity, life isn't about being impatient, it's when you're patient that you really get to enjoy life and the services kind people bring. Probably the worst service I have every received from any company. Requested a tow from AAA this is the tow company they sent. I was quoted a 22minute wait time then received a phone call from the company saying it would be around 90 mins. Ok fine. After waiting the drive gets to the car and doesn't want to tow it because it doesn't have plates. Try to explain to the driver that I have everything I need he said he doesn't want to hear it. And telling me he's not towing it I ask are you serious. He just goes on a cursing rampage about how he doesn't have to f**king take it.
