this company does not even deserve one star, i called AAA to have my truck towed to a mechanic,driver showed up late,was rude and stated my truck was to big,took some pictures and left. mountain auto then called back about an hour later,and stated they could not tow it using AAA, but if i wanted to pay 600 dollars they could tow it........so out of curiosity i looked up mountain autos reviews on yelp............my jaw dropped,it appears this shop is without morals , THANK GOD THEY DID'NT TOW MY TRUCK, the funny part of this story is over the past six months AAA has towed my truck two other times without any problem what so ever..... after calling AAA back and filing a complaint against mountain auto, AAA sent another truck from dons auto the only other tow company on the mountain...dons driver was on time, and very professional, he loaded my truck with out blinking an eye......dons auto gets five stars for sure. read more

Every single time my insurance has used them they have been awful. My first experience with them they were almost 3 hours later than they estimated. I called to get an update on the time and whoever answers the phone is always horribly rude. I understand you may not love your job but when someone has to call for a tow they're probably having a crappier day than you are. Instead of offering any help she canceled my tow because I asked how much longer. It was late, I was cold and all I wanted was to know how much longer it would be. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Complete liars, and very rude and flippant. They initially told me they would be three hours due to wenching people out from previous bad weather. It was a completely sunny day and it hadn't snowed in 3 days. The roads were totally clear. 7 hours later they call me and say they can't make it. I explained that our only 4WD vehicle was out of commission and we were missing work for every day we couldn't get it to the shop to get fixed. We had a very small window of time due to snow coming in the next two days. So...they promised me they made arrangements with the shop and their driver to come after hours. Again, got our hopes up. The night shift dispatcher came on shift and called me and said no way they are doing it. Us residents up here in the mountains are at the mercy of only two tow companies and I suppose they think they can treat us anyway they want. Everyone ends up needing to use them because they have no choice. The insensitivity of these people and shyster behavior just baffles me. read more

OMG, WHAT A JOKE! I was in an accident on the highway and CHP called for tow. These fools ended up at the scene. There were issues regarding where it was going for repairs and it was all taken care of before I left the scene. Matt was the driver for the tow, what a liar he is. He told my ins. co that he had been at the scene for 2 hours at 300.00 per hour. (The entire incident took less than an hour) We noticed he was a AAA tow company also and stated we would go through AAA and have the car towed down the mountain to the repair shop by our home that insurance required. Matt told us that AAA does NOT tow from accidents. OMG seriously. This all happened at 9:30 am. They kept my car overnight and brought it to the body shop the next day at noon. I happened to be there when the car came and watched the driver offload it. OMG, he hit the building with his truck and when he offloaded my car he backed it up into the gate. The poor guy didn't have the proper tools, the chain was stuck in the frame on the damaged side of the car, (what fool would hook up on the damaged side) Just got the bill for the tow. $1150.00. WHAT A RIP OFF. Damaged my wheels on my car and lied to us continously! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! Everytime we called in the 1st 24 hours to confirm when our car would be towed down the mountain, they lied about it not being released, they didn't get paperwork, they didn't get confirmation, yada yada yada. They even hung up on us because my husband referred to her as a bitch. I could go on and on! WHAT A BUNCH OF CROOKS!!! read more

I have only had to use my AAA 1 time before this time and let me tell you, it was horrible and I never wanted to have to see another tow truck driver in my life! Service was fast, what upset me was the advice given to me that the vehicle was good to drive when in actuality it was not and i ended up having to get a second tow service from a different tow company. Technically i was left stranded, if you need to get towed by this company have them take you all the way down the hill it is more convenient for you but not convenient for the tow driver. Do not take any advice regarding that the vehicle is good to operate especially if you were towed to the closest town but not all the way down the hill. Things to consider it is a extremely cold area, people around that area not very friendly, seemed like everyone near there was out to get money one way or another and whatever stores there close very early. That night i realized how shitty some people can be and to trust no one, i have 2 college degrees and 5 years of professional work experience when i say there is no sense of customer service or professionalism i mean it. No matter what if a tow service can't tow off the mountain call someone else who can or even better wait about an hour for your insurance to send a tow at least they will for sure take you off the mountain. Since staying on that mountain with a car that had an accident is not safe and tow services near that area should use common sense and realize for the well being of the customer it is better to take them off the mountain and not just leave them in town where there is no where to occupy a motel. If you're in an accident do not get the vehicle towed to a town get it towed off the mountain because the cold temp will freeze up that motor or you will run out of gas from having to use it for the car heater. If you are taken off the mountain have them either leave it somewhere with a 24 hour store not the Chevron off that exit in Highland or have it dropped off to your house if it is not so far. read more

Excellent service, friendly staff, prompt and helpful. Belt and water pump crashed on the way to Big Bear, ahead of what turned out to be a snowy weekend. We called our insurance road assistance and they put us in touch with them. With little explanation, the lady on the phone knew exactly where we were and estimated time of arrival 40 minutes. Andrew, (I hope I remembered his name correctly), the tow truck driver came in 30 minutes. He was beyond nice and helpful. Took the car to a repair shop in Big Bear and took us back to our hotel. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because I felt our overage price (miles over the insurance coverage) was a bit high, although this was the first time we had to have our car towed, so I may be wrong. At any rate, they promptly saved the day and I highly recommend them! read more

Mountain Auto Services & Towing was the company dispatched by Triple A to come help me. The driver Josh was wonderful! Very friendly and made quick work of changing my tire. My family had to abandon our truck on the 330 during a crazy storm the other night because it slid into a ditch on the side of the road. The next day the road was closed according to CHP so we went up to get the truck the following morning first thing. We found out it had been towed by Mountain Auto Service and Towing. When we called the company the owner answered the phone and was completely rude and unhelpful. We had sat in 3 hours of traffic to get there and the owner would not give us our truck back because he said they were closed. He told us to come back at 8 am the next morning. So we came back at 8:30 am on Friday morning after sitting in an hour of traffic and the gate was locked. We called them and the owner was completely rude again and said the lady wasn't in the office yet and we just needed to sit and be patient. We have 3 kids and jobs that we need to tend to and to have our car towed is already an inconvenience but then to have to deal with an extremely rude inconsiderate man who we are paying to get our truck from is ridiculous. I would never recommend anyone to come and get their car repaired here nor for any company to use this place as a tow service. read more
