Great GF burger! An unexpected find as we where just out hiking and happened upon it. Will defiantly be stopping here again!!

Chopped liver. As metaphor for how we were treated by the server from the moment we sat down. Was it our ages or my disability that made it so or is he like this always? I know not but given I used to live in Bend and am a fan of the man who owns Mountain Burger for his other enterprises, Washington and The Drake, I'll enter in the benefit of the doubt that this young man has been retrained or given the boot from this new Northwest Crossing located eatery. He ruined what was an otherwise fun discovery and for which I made reservations. I can't believe I tipped him 20% but I feel like a cheapskate if that isn't the minimum tip these days (I once worked front of house in this industry including as server in the ancient times) so with food and tip the early dinner meal was about $70 and it was not a good value hospitality experience return on that investment and it was largely service that sunk the ship. The more I think about it the more I regret tipping him. And that is really out of character for me to say. THE SCHTICK: Burgers of all kinds, some specialties of the house and some that can be customized in any way your imagination takes you. Also milkshakes of all kinds and if I'm in again when visiting family I'll for sure order one of those. A full bar with creative cocktails both full octane (my hubby had a rum, pineapple, curacao drink served tall, Unscrewed $15 that he said was great) and unleaded (I had a soft cocktail made with jam...a first for me... Free Spirited $10 and I almost ordered a second it was so yummy). Although beef burgers are the majority here, as one would expect, we appreciated they offered a veggie burger, Manzanita $12, house made I think and delicious and a lamb burger $15, equally delicious, but the fail point on both of them was a potato bun that was very dry. In a nice touch the burgers - all are 4 oz as standard I think - arrive on heated plates. Garnished with only a pickle (a good one) and sides are available for only about five bucks. I ordered a side green salad $5 mostly because I wanted to try the Green Goddess Dressing that I could order with it. The dressing was great. I hope Ted keeps it on the menu. It would make a great burger spread too. But the side salad was a disappointing small mound of wilting romaine lettuce that had seen better days; I didn't eat it. SERVICE: My opening comments established that on this day for our experience it was lousy and at the end of the meal the check was "drop and go" without asking if we wanted dessert. And they weren't busy, soon after opening and not even a quarter of tables in use. Again, this is not typical of what we've experienced at Ted's other places. Maybe a one-off here. Your service-mileage may vary here. For the better I hope. LOCATION: Northwest Crossing neighborhood right next door to one of our fav little stop in to look-see-and-buy-something markets, West Coast Provisions. VIBE: There used to be a German-esque eatery that was short lived at this location and the new owner has done a good job of updating, refreshing and making it more inviting and sort of mountain theme. The outside patio is great and has the benefit of afternoon shade orientation in Bend's hot summer into fall weather. It has all standard height seating...cheers for that since all people can use it unlike the high perch tables there with the previous business. Inside has bar with high seating and a mix of high seats, step up booths (I am not a fan but they are a signature of all of this owner's eateries) and a standard height tables. In general this owner has been genius in crafting interesting spaces and he did it again here. ACCESSIBILITY: Patio has accessible seating. No accessible seating in the bar that I could see. My guesstimate is maybe four seats in the restaurant would be accessible to wheelchair users if you are planning for yourself or a family member. PARKING: On street in NW Crossing can be difficult at some times of day. There are parking lots behind some of the buildings. NOTE: During summer months there is a great Farmers' Market on this same NW Crossing street on Saturday mornings until about 2p I think. read more

This place is a very upscale for burger joint. However, they serve up so serious grub. I had the Mountain Burger with a side of Onion Rings. The cheeseburger was loaded with condiments and a tangy sauce. Served on a Potato Bun which was delicious. The Onion Rings were so good. after eating a few rings I dipped them in their ketchup. Delicious. The service was slow at first, but got better as the meal went on. This place isn't cheap, but it's tasty. read more

Terrific service but dismal food. The pickle on our plate was the winner. My friend ordered a salad with green goddess dressing. We all agreed there was something wrong with the dressing. It tasted terrible like rancid olive oil. The sweet potato fries and regular fries were very underwhelming and blah. It's hard to mess up fries. While we liked the idea of a custom burger, the options seemed lacking overall and the burgers were awful. My impossible patty was not cooked properly and was lost on the bun, which was flakey and fell apart. There wasn't enough condiments. My partner didn't like his burger either and also thought the bun was flakey and weird. For a place that only slings burgers, they should be the best and these were some of the crappiest. Plus Bend already has so many places to buy a burger! The service was good, the booths very comfortable, the interior pretty but we won't be back and hope something else more innovative comes about. Wouldn't allow my elderly mother to order without interrupting multiple times and was so impatient with her. "I'll come back when you figure it out". So uncalled for. Terrible service. Band was playing outside and there was an 1 1/2 hour wait for food, so decided to stay for a cocktail. Bartender refused to serve us a drink - said there was a cocktail waitress outside serving drinks. Tried to get a drink for over an hour. No waitress in site. It was pretty bad , we had a semi big group of 7 , only ppl there for breakfast , it took over 30 min for 5 orders of bacon , eggs and toast , and a horrible horrible loco moco, staff was great , and friendly , but food took forever and food was pretty bad ... a real bummer because this location is awesome in NW Crossing ! read more

My giving of five stars must be with the comment that I came in on a Wednesday afternoon where there were only a few other diners, being said service was very friendly and they had great allergen friendly options, including vegan ice cream, vegan/gf burger buns, and vegan meat. Great options for anyone with allergens or on a strict diet. The burger that I got was a mock Big Mac that I was thorough improvement on it. Myself and three others had a grand time making jokes on the drive there: "We hope this place is worth the seven round-abouts we have to take to get there." I am happy to report: Yes, it was. It wasn't too busy when we arrived, but we found seats outside and were greeted by a server quickly. Our orders went in and also came out quickly. I ordered the BOTD: The Fire Alarm -- it was very good. Everyone else who also ordered burgers was very happy as well -- we actually struggled to find a bad things to say about the place; in an effort to find anything negative, I mentioned I'm not a big fan of Portland Ketchup. One of me mates ordered the Big Dipper (that came with a healthy serving of Smokey Chipotle BBQ), so we all were happy to sub that in as a dip, but the fries were flavorful enough that it didn't really need either. Bathrooms were clean, our server was delightful, atmosphere was great, the food was tasty and reasonably priced. I'm really disappointed in our to-go order from Mountain Burger. I ordered the Boomerang BBQ Chicken Chopped Salad, and was looking forward to what the picture offered as a robust yummy salad. It was literally the same size as my husband's SIDE salad that came with his burger, I kid you not. I ordered a side of sweet potato fries. The kids side was $5, and the regular side was $7. I was hoping for more fries than literally SEVEN waffle fries in a little baggy. That's $1. PER waffle fry. Unbelievable. My husbands fries were the same size. What size were the kids' fries if those are the regular size??! Just a sad sad way to kick off a Friday, man. Probs won't be ordering again. In person, it's been ok. The cost is astronomical for what you get. The waffle fries were way over cooked, which fortunately they took off the bill and they forgot to add the sticker l double patty to the double burger but they adjusted that. I think a cranberry vodka shouldn't be 18 dollars even with top shelf vodka when it's a single. My salad was decent. We came here for the ambiance around Xmas time. Maybe a week or so before Xmas. Our biggest complaint is with the portion size. We had two toddlers who split a kids burger and wife and I split the special burger and each had a beer. When the special burger came out it was the size of our kids burger which wasn't very big. And the amount of fries was dismal. We just felt very disappointed. If your only thing is burgers it should be great. Especially for the prices. Too many other breweries and burger places in town to go to. We don't frequent mountain burger but will probably be more hesitant because of the portion sizes relative to prices. read more

Mountain Burger is location in the heart of northwest crossing so great location. The food and drinks are fantastic. Actually has the best burgers and milkshakes I've ever had. The only issue is you'll go home hungry. The single patty served is only 3oz. Even with a couple sides family went home hungry. It felt like a small lunch, even though they are only open during dinner hours Update: Came back for another visit some time after grand opening. They have done a nice job improving the interior after the previous place closed. This was a disappointing visit. The cheese burger was meh. The salad (instead of fries for an extra $2) was very very disappointing. A lot of the lettuce was stale - brown on the edges. I poked through about half of it, pulling out brown bits. I don't care about the color as much as I care about the crappy taste of stale salad greens. Bummer, as I love a good crispy salad. Coming back? I live nearby, but probably not anytime soon. I honestly really truly went here not wanting to give them a horrible score but it became impossible by the end of my online order pickup experience. (I literally ordered a single cheeseburger to go...in hopes i could make this one of my regular burger spots) First of all..... it's BURGERS... how hard could that be??? Nope, although it bothered me a lot and felt intentionally disrespectful, that wasn't even the reason i decided to go through with this nasty review... the final straw and nerve strike was the LACK OF NAPKINS in my to-go order. Red flag.!! Very simple and basic detail to provide customers with napkins in their orders. For such a swanky high end burger establishment in a swanky high end part of town - with good beer, luxurious ambiance, and HIGH prices, you'd think they'd at least give napkins out with their ketchupless cheeseburgers. Went for the Sources Burger Week. Good atmosphere. Cleanliness left a bit to be desired. The ketchup bottle on the table looked like it'd never been cleaned. As far as the food was concerned, I wasn't impressed. The fries were good, but I was surprised by the portion size for the cost, $5 for a coffee cup size and $9 for a small bowl, must have some really expensive potato's. The $10 source burger was $16 once turned into a double. $6 for an extra patty is a lot. The burgers were severely overcooked and small, but the buns were good. So we thought we would try it out, being Saturday at 6:45 we were worried if it would be to crowded to get in. It was half empty at that time with the huge patio completely empty. Who was the target market? I can get an amazing burger anywhere so why would I come here? Those were our thoughts before visiting. The menu is limited to one single item and if I have my family or I'm dining with guests, are basically all wanting burgers? Who decides exactly what they want and that everyone wants the same thing when they are going out? Then who wants burgers more than once a week? They are limiting repeat visit by limiting their menu. Stopped in on a Sunday early evening ,it was not busy , there were 4 people working in the kitchen. We came because you were in the Bend visitors guide. After a long day at work I drove my fj60 over to NW Crossing to meet a true homie for a drink to celebrate his bday. After crushing two PBRs and getting escorted out by two escorts at Waypoint I was feeling hungry and the girls were acting thirsty. I decided on Mountain Burger and little did I know, that was the best decision I made all week. Believe me when I say "best decision I made all week." As soon as I walked in I was blindsided by a South Bay dime piece! She had on some bibs, super fly readers and a beanie. It was love at first sight until I realized I had been tricked; it was just a mannequin dressed up as a fly ass honey. Oh well. After catching my breath I made my way to the bar, daddy loves the bar for every occasion. I was welcomed with open arms and a very dope staff. The bar was wide open and ready for a feasting. My company of two ordered two basic B cocktails and daddy ordered a smoky mezcal cocky. I wasn't disappointed! After browsing the menu and dialoguing with the super cute bartender Hayley, I was set on the double mountain burger with a side of house cut fries and three stabbing sauces. After absolutely crushing a delicious double Mt burger and housing the house cut fries, I was ready for a night of shenanigans. I'm going to leave you as I always do, hoist feast, and stab.
