Is there an outdoor area for dining?

A very small patio with two tables near the front door, currently. This place is not really set up well for outdoor dining. Hopefully the landlords will come up with a better plan for their location for ourdoor dining.

Earlier in the…read moreday while we walked past this establishment we heard laughter and what seemed like chill vibes, so we made a mental note to come back later in the evening for a few drinks. Walked in, and it was busy. Not packed but busy due to shortage of staff. The waiter got to us and said there's seating outside and if we'd rather seat inside she was the only waiter so it'll be a few more minutes before she can clean the tables. We waited patiently and got a seat. Ordered drinks and waited. Waited and waited. While waiting I could see the 1 bartender just chatting away with the people sitting at the bar. Making drinks here and there but majority of the time just talking. 20-25 min passed by and our Waiter stopped by and realized we still haven't received our 2 drinks. She immediately got our attention and went to the Lady Bar Tender who looked annoyed that she was getting interrupted talking to the customers and was asked to do her job and check on our drinks. At this time we decided to walk up and sit at the bar as there were open seats. As we sat down the Bartender gave us a drink & food menu and said kitchen closes soon. We told her that we're just ordering drinks and that the waiter had already placed our drink order a while back. She went to her kiosk system and realized there were 2 drinks placed. She immediately looked at her phone and I'm sure referenced the time and actually proceeded to make one of our drink. She rimmed it and placed ice into the cup - while doing this she placed the drink back down as the customer next to us asked for another drink. She went back to the kiosk and grabbed her phone and looked like she purposefully just didn't care to make our drinks. She was on her phone with her back turned to us... for quite some time. There was enough time in between her back turning and the other customers drink order that we decide we're not going to be waisting any more of our time & leave. While doing this she actually proceeded to skip making our drink and got the drink/beer for the customer next to us. I walked on over to the waitress and said she can cancel our drink and we're leaving; she immediately apologized and said for us to stay and she'll ask to comp our 1st drink. I was very hesitant but she obviously was very apologetic and we went back and sat. She went to the bartender and told her make our drink and comp it. The bartender all of a sudden went back to making our drink and started talking to us saying she's the only bartender and the other 2 called out... never did she apologize. At this time I just told her she wasn't busy making drinks rather just talking and also skipping our drink to serve someone else. She asked if we still wanted our drinks and at this time, clearly why would anyone stay and support this kind of behavior. I told her, her customer service attitude sucks and we walked out. Waisted 45 min of our time... To the establishment: pls have your bartender working Night of 9/10 check herself & her attitude. She's the engine that runs your bar business and if she's clearly this rude, unprofessional and unapologetic about making drinks she shouldn't be working as a bartender. She left a very bad impression on your business while another worker tried to make things right just for her to give your customers attitude and purposely just choosing to not make our drinks.

I got the lamb osso bucco and my fiancé got the cioppino and added on the spaghetti. The portions here are very healthy. I could barely touch my osso bucco, but thought it was ok. The mashed potatoes were fluffy and creamy. The osso bucco was actually way better leftover two days later when it all melded together. The others thought their entrees were alright too, I didn't try them even though they offered. :) You'll be stuffed, but get the dessert anyways! We got a creme brûlée which was creamy and nicely caramelized, but the big winner here was the Carmel bakery brownie. So rich and decadent! Service was friendly and quick. Street parking only. I'd come back for apps and dessert.

A quick pivot to change our lunch plans while on holiday in Carmel, CA: ended up being really great…read morefor our party of three. Founded in Monterey in 2014, Alvarado Street Brewery expanded its production and its restaurants to meet demand. This location in the Carmel Plaza Shopping Center opened in 2018, and they do produce beer here, though their main production and canning happens at their original Monterey and expanded Salinas plants. They also have a new beer garden at the new soccer stadium in Marina. We waited around at the mall until it opened at 11:30. Service was excellent all-around, with us being seated right away, and our server, Ian, providing some top-notch recommendations for both food and beer. I asked him about their flights, which were the standard 5 oz pours, and individually priced. But he mentioned that if I ordered their promotional deal (in this case, their Korean-style loco moco), it would come with a flight of their 4 core beers. He had me sold as soon as he said 'loco moco'. Everything came out on-time, and served at the right temperature as appropriate. 4 beer flight (included with loco moco plate) - flagship Monterey Beer (American Light Lager, brewed at their Salinas plant); Pilsner (German-style Pilsner, also brewed at their Salinas plant); Mai Tai (American IPA, Salinas); Howzit Punch (fruited sour, modeled after Hawaiian POG). All of the beers were really good. with the Howzit being the most liked, not only on principle (we really love Hawaii) but also on taste. Korean-Style Loco Moco ($25) - when told that the white rice on a traditional loco moco was being replaced by kimchi fried rice, my original reaction was 'Dang...why didn't I think of that'. It was a beautiful looking dish, for sure. In terms of taste, just OK. The rice wasn't great, and the hamburger patty was OK (a bit dry). But the over-easy egg added a nice level of richness and the gravy fit the dish. The strips of gim (seaweed sheets) was a great touch and appreciated. Roasted Drunken Half Chicken ($33) - another great looking dish: a cut up half chicken with a ton of crisping done on the skin. It came with two dipping sauces (a bbq and a butter based), along with pickled vegetables on the side, and a jalapeno biscuit. My wife loved the biscuit and didn't need the extra butter. The chicken looked dry though, and she confirmed it. The dark meat was OK, but the white meat was very dry, confirming that one needs to use the bbq sauce and the pickled vegetables to counteract that. Spicy Fried Chicken Sandwich ($20) - my mother-in-law loved this, and she proved it by eating it all (though it could have something to do with all the walking we did in the morning). I enjoyed the fresh cole slaw (tart with a nice mix of vegetables). And all of us really enjoyed the fries...again proving that food service frozen fries can be marvelous if deep fried (and served) properly. My wife and I both agreed that the Mai Tai PA and Howzit Punch were really good and worth bringing back home so got a 4-pack of each ($16 each). Haven't had a chance to try it at home yet, but will do so when wanting to remember our trip.

They have a pretty extensive menu of food and drinks. The food is pretty standard bar fare, but with no shortage of options. Between the two of us, we shared: - Miso cacio e pepe: we came specifically for this! It's one of their most well known dishes, and I highly highly recommend! So creamy and savory, and the mafaldine pasta has such a nice texture, the ruffled edges hold on to sauce perfectly. We also added a bit of gochujang that came with the bibimbap and it was so good with some spice. - Dolsot bibimbap: my husband's favorite Korean dish so of course we had to get it! An excellent variety of veggies, which was nice since we barely got any veg on vacation. The kalbi beef was so juicy and delicious, and not overcooked. - Matcha Tiramisu: absolute must get, so unique. The cake layers were soaked in matcha, and topped off with some fresh fruit. - Grapefruit sake spritz: I was on the fence between this cocktail and the yuzu champagne spritz. Our waitress said that the grapefruit spritz was much less sweet, and I am so glad I decided to go with that option! It was the perfect amount of sweetness, not overwhelming. We loved the Ad Astra bread so much that I bought the same seed and drain bread the following morning at Ad Astra. I LOVE how the restaurants partner with the local bakeries and shops. I wanted something to drink that wasn't sweet, so I tried their raspberry ice tea. They used a sugary syrup to flavor the tea, and that was a strike out. It was sweeter than a soda, so it went back and I swapped it out for a plain unsweetened ice tea. Then we tried the cheesy garlic bread, which we were really looking forward to. Welp, it came out with mozzarella cheese and a ton of corn. No butter. No garlic. We all looked at each other when we tried it. Ok, let's try their brussel sprouts. Those are hard to mess up - but sure enough, they managed to. They deep fried them to the point they were black and charred. There wasn't anything left of the brussel sprout itself, it was mostly crunchy charcoal. At this point, we all ordered something we assumed would be safe for our main. I got the sliders and a side salad. I had the salad but only of the sliders. The cheese on it was queso, like you use to dip chips, so it was ran all over the place and the burger was a grease ball. I won't even get into what everyone else had, but they had similar experiences. Overall, it was pretty disappointing. Maybe there are other things or other times where this place is better, but it was a swing and a miss for us.
