Came in on my day off for the $9.99 lunch buffet. Small salad bar but good assortment, just wish there more green lettuce... had to scrape to find it. Pizza was good but because no one else was there it was the same 2 pizzas that sat there the whole time. 1 pepperoni and 1 half veggie half some sort of chicken with bacon. I would have loved signs to know exactly what they were called from the menu. I would suggest propping the doors open, playing some fun music and putting out sandwich board signs advertising their pizza and salad bar buffet to get people to stop by. The place was eerily silent while I was there, no music, TVs on sports but no sound, I only saw 2 employees and never heard them speak except a few words when one rang me up. I had high hopes...but... I traveled about a year ago to Central California for a wedding and found Mountain Mikes and it was amazing. This time I thought I'd give them a try and I ordered through DoorDash, it was so disappointing! I ordered the Stuffed Crust with pepperoni, sausage, and extra cheese (+$3.90) well if this was extra cheese I would hate have seen regular, and the same with the standard crust??? Is the thin crust just a piece of paper??? The garlic knots were burnt and basically just hard knots with no garlic! Dipping in the marinara sauce saved them somewhat. The wings were ok but the smallest I've seen from take out restaurants. I understand the extra fees and pricing because of DD and the state of the economy right now but almost $100 for this order is ridiculous. Today was our first time at Mountain Mike's and we will definitely be back!! Looks a little dark from the outside but the inside gives 90's pizza joint vibes in the best way possible. Plenty of comfy seating, soda fountain, beer and wine, and a few arcade games in the very back. We crushed a large pepperoni which came out quickly and was cooked perfectly. To top it off, the beer was super cold and served in chilled glasses. The service was efficient, but lacking any real enthusiasm or personality. You can only imagine how many times I've ordered well in advance and have to wait an additional 15-25 minutes for pick ups. The place is also frequently empty, because if you're a local, you know you won't be serve in a timely manner. The pizza is really great. The draft is nice and cold. The place is clean and the staff friendly. My reviews over the past six years have been a 2, a 4, and now a 3, so I guess consistency is an issue. Ordering is awkward. The line is in the entrance passage, and the people going out too. The menu is overhead and hard to read. The music interferes with ordering and as a result my wife got a different beer than she ordered. She had to ask for it too. Nice clean spot and friendly service. I got the buffet for $13.75 w my veteran discount. Like always the pepperoni pizza is the best in San Diego! Cheese pizza is yummy too. The blue cheese sauce is super chunky n delicious. I'm not a fan of green peppers, ham or pineapple so I don't get any of the other pizza. That's why they only get 3 stars. Ordered a pizza that was supposed to be delivered between 06:45pm and 07:00pm. As of 08:30pm, it still hadn't been delivered. I called twice at 08:00pm and 08:30pm and was told "It's on the way". It never showed up and I never received a call from Mountain Mike's to advise on the delay. I told them to cancel the order. Unsurprisingly, they didn't even offer an apology for the inconvenience. Terrible customer service and totally ridiculous! You don't have to take my word for it - look at all the other reviews saying the same thing (long waits, lack of communication, no apology). 7/19/2024 - Going through Yelp I decided to look for buffets around the Santee/LaMesa and El Cajon area. I didn't know pizza places have buffets anymore. I saw they did and said, heck, I'm off and it's only there Monday thru Friday from 11am-2pm. I gathered two friends and we went there. We arrived at 11:15am and they had only their salad. I asked the front register person and said yes they have the pizza but don't place it out until the first customers come in for the Buffett. We were the first persons. It's $16 a person or a total of $48. No soda with it. Just grabbed free water. Salad was already in place. Very clean and good looking salad bar. They told us the pizza will be out in about 10 minutes. They brought out a pepperoni pizza, a cheese that was about 3/4 of the pizza and the other 1/4 was a supreme. Then a cheese garlic bread. That was your choices. The salad was good and fresh and the pizzas were good. We left about an hour later and no one else came in for the lunch buffett. See photos. read more

When someone brought up the amount of time they were waiting the staff said "They can't control the kitchen". Best they could offer me was a water cup while I waited. I requested crispy pizza, when we arrived they gave us the wrong pie. Fortunately we realized it before driving off. When we got home I had a few slices of pizza that were not crispy as requested online. Not a huge deal, pie was still yummy, just cooked in air fryer to our crispy liking. They had 5 employees in site, perhaps the old saying is true. Kinda bummed, we like supporting our local restaurants, this place will be moving to the back of the line. Just finished hiking Cowels Mountain and had worked up an appetite. Needed to pick some things up at CVS and saw Mountain Mike's Pizza next door, so we decided to give it a try. The employees wear shirts that say "love at first slice" and this was so true. Everything on the menu looked great, but we decided to split a "Robbers Roost". It's a chicken and sausage pizza with yummy fresh tomatoes, olives, and green onions. We both bit into it and said OMG. The crust is amazing; soft, buttery, garlicky, and just the right amount of crispy and chewy. It comes with a garlic white sauce that is amazing. It wasn't until after ordering and sitting down that we saw the sign proclaiming the "better" pepperoni pizza. I'm a sucker for a good pepperoni, so we got a small to-go. The pepperoni is salty and crispy, just the way I love it! My husband even said it was better than his "gold standard" pizza joint back home that he compares all pizza joints. You have an option of booths on one side and party style table seating on the other side. Fun music was pumping over the speakers that got both my husband and I dancing in our seats. We came in at a slow time, so there were only a few workers, but the woman taking and passing out orders was very nice and super patient with our indecisiveness. There's plenty of parking around here and you can even go to the pharmacy or grocery shop while waiting for your order. I think we've eaten inside maybe twice, and it's okay, although I've never been when it's crowded so I have no idea about that. This was the very first mikes I went to some 15 years ago. Went to many now and finally made my back to the first. We did a special heart shaped pizza for February with a small salad and poppers. The poppers are so good here. Juicy jalapeños and creamy cheese really pop with so much flavor. The small salad is not small and was very fresh and also had eggs chopped in. Very delicious. The pizza was ordered thin with extra cheese and the pepperoni added was a mountain. So many delicious ronis. Extra cheese was perfect and thin really makes it crispy which I love. Honestly disgusting. I bought 2 medium and 1 small pizzas, 8 piece jalapeño poppers, a Caesar salad, and chicken Buffalo wings. $113 !! You'd think if I'm spending that much it better taste pretty damn good.... WRONG!! The pizzas were tiny, the wings were soggy and flavorless like store bought frozen wings that were microwaved, the jalapeño poppers were flavorless and not even cooked fully and the salad was like a bagged salad that they just threw together from Albertsons. I had to air fry the wings and poppers and they were still disgusting. The pizza was basically sauce less and cheese less it was like eating fluffy bread with no flavor. I live in the area and my husband and I like to support the businesses around us but we will never come back to this establishment. I should have stuck with my gut and got food from Nicolosis instead to feed our family of 6 for the price we were paying. @mountain mikes I'm not sure why you are overcharging for store bought frozen microwaved wings and jalapeño poppers and less than average dry pizza. We recently visited this location for the first time. We were excited to hear they had vegan cheese. We first tried to order one online but couldn't find the option to choose vegan cheese. Finally found the time to go in and try it. Nothing we could see on the menus board said vegan cheese either. We did confirm they had it and then tried to decide what kind we wanted. We were shocked to see how expensive the toppings were but decided to wait and see if they did a nice job of piling them on. Pizza came and it was smaller than expected and the toppings were sad. We had 2 toppings other than the cheese and there wasn't much of either one. I don't like a ton of sauce but this pizza was pretty dry even for me. The pizza taste was pretty good and I loved the crust but it's not really worth it when you look at what they charge per topping and what you get. read more
