Two of us ordered breakfast. This had to be the worst breakfast I've ever had in a restaurant that focuses on breakfast and lunch. Burnt bacon, burnt waffles, fake cheese on the omelette. Omelette was a scramble and not an omelette, terrible coffee, and salsa out of a jar. Service unfriendly. A big thumbs down. $35.00 for two awful breakfasts and one coffee. Yikes! read more

Going to Peoria Arizona from California and found this hidden gem in Quartzite. This was a Monday morning so wasn't very crowded. Server was friendly and service was fast and food was good. We ordered a veggie omelette and half biscuit with gravy and two eggs, were good. Would definitely come back. read more

We had a family emergency in Az and stopped by this Cafe on our way back home in January. I've been delayed in sharing but think it's important enough to leave it here. We were greeted by a nice server and sat towards the back out of traffic. I have a very large Service Dog. We ordered and waited for our food. Took a long time but they were SO busy and totally understand. There was a party of 20 or so in the back area. We ate and decided we'd definitely be back! We pay and go to use the facilities before we get back on the road. As I'm waiting for my sis and niece, a woman pops out from the kitchen wearing rubber gloves. She says 'Even Service Dogs need to be outside.' I'm sure I miss understood her and say back 'She is a Service Dog'. We loop around a couple times and tells me they make service dogs sit outside on the patio too. I share how that's completely illegal but must also share, it was 40 degrees out. She repeated again 'Well, we do.' I snapped ADA laws back to her and said it's the exact same as making someone in a wheel chair sit outside. She repeat 'We do.' She was rude and ignorant and it's exhausting having to deal with this crap every time we go somewhere new. The kicker is the sign I read and pointed out to my sister and smiled as we walked in. 'Fake Service Dogs only harm real ones' or something to that effect. I happened to bump into our server as we we're leaving and told her it wasn't my normal style but shared what happened. She was horrified and even gasped and assured me she'd tell the owner. I have a life threatening disease and my very much real Medical Alert Service Dog keeps me alive. I have an accessed port and it's very plain to see my obvious disability. I want to give this cute cafe 5 stars and 0 at the same time. Everything else was lovely. Cute little gift, artisan, trinket shop attached. My only hopes in sharing is to raise awareness and hopefully educate. This is a perfect example of how fake Service Dogs harm real ones. read more

I like stopping in Quartzite AZ on last leg into CA. You still a cool little desert town of about 4000 people. Mostly well jet trailer park areas. Simple but nice neighborhoods like the Mountain Quail Restaurant where I stopped for the firs time. It's a little ways off the I 40 into the desert town but it's nice and a quaint roadside diner. We'll work the stop. The friendliest staff. I am sure in tourist season it can get crazy busy in here. A great menu of home style meals. Really really clean and nice restrooms which can be hard to come by in deep desert towns. Breakfast was really good and super reasonable. 3 eggs bacon and half order of biscuits and gravy which was huge. The server told me not to get toast I would t need it. There were several locals and travelers coming in as I ate. A nice chill breakfast with really good food. I read their local paper while I ate. Surprisingly there are a lot of things going on here. wish all desert towns were like this. read more

This is a regular stop for us when we pass through Quartside. The food is always good. Service is friendly. They are usually busy.

What a charming little cafe! Came here on a very hot 115 degree weekend for lunch. Pam was our waitress,and she was exceptional. Such a peach. Made us feel at home and treated us like family. I had the tuna sandwich, which was perfect, and it was accompanied by a small side salad. My sweetheart had the burger and fries and a large Diet Coke. All around great. The cafe also serves homemade pie slices, displayed in a rotating case as you walk in. Sadly, I wasn't hungry for dessert after lunch, so we had to say no thanks. Definitely next time, and YES, there will be a next time at this little cafe of comfort and good feels. Thank you Pam!! read more

Disgusting!!! I ordered breakfast with "broken over medium eggs and crisp hash browns. Server brought me a plate of barely over easy eggs and gave me a dirty look when I gave them back. 15 seconds later she brought them back, over a bit more but still not what I ordered. Have I mentioned the totally raw hash browns. When I tried to complain a second time I was told I was the problem. I ordered well done food, got a plate of practically raw food that I paid $17 for. What a nice little find in a nondescript town right between the border of Arizona and California. While on our way from Phoenix to Los Angeles, we happened upon this place as an alternative to more convenient fast food locations right off of the 10. This is only an extra five minutes from the 10, and it is worth the extra distance. We had a 45 minute lunch here during the middle of the week, and you could tell that this joint is the go-to place for locals because we were surrounded by elderly folk who clearly frequent the place. Breakfast for lunch is a good call here, as their omelettes are as good as any other diner that you might find closer to a major city. The onion rings were excellent, and their fries are surprisingly good. If you are looking for a sitdown place while commuting through this little town, make it a point to stop by here. You will not be disappointed! read more

This is the first time Yelp has ever led us wrong :(. The coffee was cold, the waffle was burnt with no flavor, the oatmeal was so thick you could hardly stir milk into it and even brown sugar didn't help the flavor. It tasted like sawdust. The only thing good about the meal was the English muffin, which is a little hard to mess up! I did find one grape jelly amongst 9 strawberries and 8 orange marmalade! We are not complainers, but just stating the facts. The next time we come through here, we'll be trying some place else. Sorry that we cannot recommend this cafe. The "hidden fishing hole" in the middle of a Winter Visitor's RV paradise; we found it thru social media, looking for eats besides fast food. Inside, it was "Americana-meets-desert" but in a non-kitchy way. The big tables and seating arrangements were a nice touch. We got there before a pre-dinner rush; I ordered the deep fried cod meal. How it went... -The Cod: Delicious! Non-fishy tasting; just right; 5/5. -The carrots (side dish): cooked with I think brown sugar; flashbacks of my childhood were engaged. Light and non-crispy; 4/5. -The side salad; okay, typical; 3/5. -My wife's fried chicken: cooked but cold! I said "just have them heat it up" but she got it to-go and ate it at home...2/5, after it was re-heated; 4/5. The customer service was good; they eventually looked overwhelmed by the rush but the servers were handling it. Free WIFI; the bathroom, unisex and the usual but the toilet was the "2-button-saving-water-kind" sooo, yeah it's a plus. We'd come here again; besides the cold chicken it was worth it! read more

A nice little spot for breakfast here in Quartzite. I had bacon and eggs with home fries and wheat toast. Breakfast was basic and good until you get to the home fries. The home fries have large chunks of onions and peppers and were very well seasoned. The best part of my meal. My wife had the chicken fried steak and it was too much for her. She said the gravy was excellent and she would have it again. The waitress was attentive even though they were very busy (church just let out). This place also has a cute little gift shop inside. Overall a good meal for the money. I will definitely return for the home fries! read more

Favorites of mine include their beer batter onion rings, and when available, the turkey melt is so yummy you'll want to eat it all the time! Traveling & stopped for lunch. Iced Tea was horrible for all parties. BLT had far too much mayo & bread was greasy. The bacon & other elements of the sandwich were good. The tater tots tasted like fish, probably fried in oil used for the fish. The Arizona omelet didn't have guacamole & had American cheese instead of Jack cheese. Wow we had the most delicious, great proportion breakfast at Moon Quail Cafe. This is our second time here. I had the "Frenchie" eggs, bacon & French toast. The hubby had the "Denver omelet". It came with potatoes so he let me have his hash brows & he had rye bread. They have a great selection of breads, pies & breakfast options. They serve lunch & dinner which I am sure is good. Been here before but I have to write it again! So so good every single time. The lovely waitress took our order and got it right without writing it down or asking what we got again. The cook even confused a few dishes on another family's order and she corrected him by running through the entire order before handing out the fixed dishes. The burgers are perfectly cooked and juicy. The fries are crispy and soft and are delicious with ranch. The burgers were served with fresh lettuce, onion, and tomato. Kind of out of the way place. Food is pretty good and prices are reasonable. Our problem there was fat shaming. We went to the place twice and the first time a customer had some offensive things to say about my husband being overweight and my husband took it well and responded that he was just under tall. We figured it was a one time random thing but when we went back a few days later the server, Helen, embarrassed us by making a big deal about how we would probably prefer a table as the booths don't move. We took a booth and she is yelling across the restaurant that the booth seats don't move and a table would be better. We sat in the booth just fine. read more

Everything was fine. Not much of a wait. The decor was sparse but nice painting from local artists. There was also a little gift shop with local crafts. The food was pretty good. Service was ok with only 2 people working the entire room and some sort of drama in the kitchen. I got the taco salad which was tasty and came in a great big deep fried shell.
