The all organic produce & grass-fed meats here are not only the healthiest & I think the most fresh food I've ever had, but everything was so perfectly prepared that we could easily have been dining in a five star restaurant in New York or San Francisco. My sister ordered the special pork chops which were served with just a hint of sauce. I was afraid they might be too bland but was I wrong - the meat was so tender and flavorful that it really held its own. I had the bison burger which is served with smoked Gouda & roasted red peppers on a fresh baked whole wheal roll. All I can say is I've been ruined for every other hamburger now for the rest of my life. Our server was perfectly attentive, knowledgeable and pleasant. The owner stopped by & answered all our questions about their plans for the health spa that is almost complete. The atmosphere is upscale with an equestrian vibe that is perfectly suited to the locale. Our recently renovated rooms are lovely. We have enjoyed coming here for over ten years. We especially looked forward to the all you can eat crab legs. The wait staff has always been prompt, accurate & friendly. Tonight we came to take visiting relatives from California to the crabfest. Not only were we disappointed there was no crab on the menu, but the service was horribly slow. The menu used to be excellent downhome cooking. It now is catering to the "Farm to Table" group. the 100% grass fed filet was excellent, but the salad and sides left much to be desired. As an older group we had trouble figuring out what quinoa, bok choi, & polenta were. They only offer a variety of vinaigrette dressings (no bleu cheese). Also, they only carry organice juice soda. No Pepsi or Coke products. Additionally we were never checked on after or dinner was delivered. The water was room temperature and we never did get ice when requested. When our salads were delivered we had to ask for silverware. Overall the quality of the food was good. The filet, quinoa stuffed portabella mushroom, and chicken sandwich were good. This review is mainly for locals ( we came from Chino Valley) who don't realize the menu has completely changed. read more

Great deal for the price, they had a free breakfast and mixer (dinner) and not a continental breakfast but a full deal with omelets cooked to order all included in the price. Also has a decent gym, a pool, and hot tube. Rooms were clean, in the older side but for the price it was a great deal. I would stay here again. read more

Be warned! This place is unsafe! My car was broken into while staying here and the Coconino County PD informed me that it was very common for customers to get their cars broken into as there was no security on the premise and thieves have easy get-away via the woods in the back. Fortunately the PD did recover some of my property. The staff was totally unhelpful and apathetic as to what is an admittedly serious problem with the hotel. The manager told me that I should have not parked around back (in front of my room door). I wouldn't be surprised if the staff was in on the heist. The room was terrible on top of all this -- 20F temp in the room upon check in. Terribly overpriced. AVOID. FAIL read more

I stayed here last weekend with my family. We booked the resort via priceline.com The website has not been updated and is misleading as to what the resort is really like. I do not recommend it for the following reasons: * No Wi-Fi in the rooms. We called the operator and they said it would work in the lobby, but it's hit or miss. (What kinda "free WiFi?") I suppose it was nice to have a break from the internet.. * Bugs. There was a cockroach in my bathroom and an earwig or pincher bug in my bed. I made sure to sleep with cotton balls in my ears. *shivers* * The basketball court was crooked. That was a bummer because I really wanted to get my exercise on by playing some basketball. * There is no continental breakfast. There is a restaurant, but it's pretty expensive as it automatically includes gratuity even if there is just 4 in the party. Also, if you want to take it to go, there is a 20% extra fee added on. These are just a few 2 cents on why I'm giving such a low rating. If Mountain Ranch Resort resolves these issues, I would be willing to give it a second go round. read more

Yes! I believe a recent renovation would probably change a lot of the previous reviews. Our stay here was very pleasant. We loved the location in proximity to Williams and the Grand Canyon. The breakfast was sufficient and plentiful. We also ate dinner on our first night and it was delicious. They have recently hired a new Chef and he's not messin' around. There was an obvious amount of imagination used and the rewards were immeasurable. Thank you to the staff as well. Each and every one we encountered were delightful and inviting! read more

I had stayed here on a trip 3 summers ago with my son, the rooms were really dated then, but in comparison to the rates to other chains in town, this is a peaceful out of the way place to rest your head. This trip, the rooms had been remodeled and updated substantially. I was impressed with the work they had done to the rooms since I was there last. Updated counters, faucets, tile work in the bathrooms as well as bedding and carpet. I'd stay again, but might consider some of the historic places in town on Route 66. read more

Great location with an awesome view and peaceful, wide open feeling. It just reopened so some things are still undergoing renovation, the rooms are very nice, awesome bathrooms, spectacular restaurant, and a great view all around! After planning a trip to the Grand Canyon, my husband wanted to spend the night close to the GC, but the accommodations at the park had no availability so I googled Williams, AZ. I've heard of Williams due to the train rides for The Polar Express at Christmastime, but knew of no accommodations. Williams being a small town, doesn't have a lot of choices, and Mountain Ranch Resort had good reviews and looks lodge-like, and was not a chain so I thought it'd be a good choice. Upon driving into the parking lot, we were one of three cars, I immediately began to question my choice. At check in, the desk attendant notified us that the bar/restuarant was closed for "preparation" so we had to find a place to eat in Williams. She gave directions to drive around to the back of the building to enter our rooms. The building had a "motel" feel, not what the pictures show at all. Across from the parking lot are the horse stables, and the smell of horses was very apparent. The ice machine didn't work and the pool was closed. All these closures were during the week prior to Memorial Day, which the desk attendant acknowledged would be their busiest week-end, so why weren't these things available to us? At bedtime, my sister-in-law pulled back her sheets to find two hairs - yuck! The next morning, I opted for the first shower only to find the tub didn't drain. I tried to turn the water off, soap up, then turn the water on again, but to no avail, it didn't drain at all. Luckily, we had two rooms, so my husband was able to shower in the adjoining room. At check out, the desk attendant did not ask how our stay was so I mentioned that maintenance needed to check the tub. She wrote a note, but NEVER apoligized for the inconvenience. In light of the closures and the broken tub and the hairy bed... My advice...stay in Flagstaff. There are many more choices and it's not that far down the road. If I thought I was booking a motel, I would have stayed at the Motel 6. read more

Stayed here on our way to the Grand Canyon. Rooms are large and offer nice amenities. The front desk clerk was very friendly at check in. We also had a pre fixe dinner in the restaurant and it was only $25 for a three course meal. I had filet, celery stock soup and avocado infused chocolate mousse. Also the bartender made a proper drink and was not skimping on alcohol. Gem of a place. read more

Fantastic little hotel not far from the Grand Canyon. The staff was very accommodating of us coming late at night and were friendly when checking in and out. The room itself looked newly remodeled with a tile bathroom. The beds were absolutely amazing. Given the opportunity I would definitely stay here again. read more

I enjoyed my stay. A little feedback for the owners/managers... 1. the pink exterior makes this place look like the SLEep eaZY motel from the Simpsons. It needs an upgrade. The lobby made up for my first impression, however. 2. Parking lot could benefit from mirrors to reduce blind spots Otherwise a great getaway. Decently close to the grand canyon and Flagstaff. It was isolated which was the look I was going for. Rooms were clean and maintained and spacious. I really didn't need the air, but I thought it was weird they had the air next to the bathroom instead of in the living room area. Definitely would stay again if I am ever in the area. read more

I have to laugh at the comment about the parking lot being unsafe, which we had also heard somewhere else. This property has recently undergone renovations and major improvements, and I feel these postings may be a little dated. The thing is, we stopped by for dinner on our way to Williams, and I apparently had too much organic wine with my scrumptious meal. I left my purse sitting on a lamp post in the parking lot and didnt realize this until I got to my hotel in Williams. When we got back to the resort, it was still sitting there! The moral of this story is that if you are going to eat there, which I highly reccommend, you should probably just stay there. read more

Well it's 105 in phoenix, and I'm sitting under a ponderosa and it's 75 degrees... That counts for at least 3 stars right there!! We were a little worried when we pulled in, looked about as nice as a Motel 6 from the door. We were glad when we got in the room and it was very clean, seems to be recently updated. The restaurant on site is certainly nothing to write home about. Go into Williams or Flag to eat. The room opened onto a beautiful green lawn where kids played and adults relaxed in the shade. We didn't want to stay in the town of Williams, so opted for this lovely resort. We were wondering what was there, and the ratings weren't really high. It ends up this was a real bargain and it is beautiful here! The location of our room was strange, but that didn't matter one bit. Step outside the room and a beautiful field of wildflowers greeted us. The room was clean and very comfortable. The bed and pillows were great! So hard to find decent pillows in hotel rooms, so many are like bricks. Dinner and breakfast are included! This is a great place for families. Lots of activities for everyone. We were advised the restaurant was closed (incorrectly) but went in for a cocktail. The restaurant was very much open and serving a lovely buffet of great ranch-style food. Some of the best fresh fruit I've ever tasted. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The live guitar music was lovely and relaxing. I will stay here again in a heart-beat! The front desk people need a little training, but all in all a great place to go and I want to stay for a week! Very rustic ranch-style lodge, perfect for the area. read more

Well, let me tell you. I stayed at this hotel 1 night on the way to Las Vegas. The pictures do not match up to the room. The buildings are old and scary. There are bugs on the floor, freaked me out, I don't know about you, but... Also the TV is awful, bad screen and audio. In the morning usually humans eat, right? The hotel served breakfast right above the office, old and cold. The breakfast was gross. Eggs where cold and powdery. I would not recommend this hotel, if you are seeing the Grand Canyon don't stay here! read more

This hotel was really lacking in both service and accommodations. The ac/heating is a joke! A swamp cooler located in the bathroom, essentially, does not heat a room. We were cold the entire night! In the morning we found a bottle of medication had frozen. The website for this place claims a free $30 coupon for the on-site restaurant but when we got there no coupon. When we asked about it in the morning they told us that it wasn't included in our stay even though it explicitly states it on their website. The night we were checking in there was a couple in front of us going through our same situation now. They asked for the manager and were told he would be in at 9am. We asked to see him the next morning but he wasn't there. We were extremely unsatisfied and we aren't hard to please. This is no resort and, and! no jacuzzi, like the website promised. Note: the restaurant closed early July 2015. This review is for the resort. It's true that it's sort of motel/resort and the rooms are not super posh, however, it was extremely clean, the beds were clean, nice and comfy. The grounds are great especially for families, it's very woodsy & grassy. We took a hike in the woods, the kids had fun bunny watching and we also went horse back riding which was awesome! There were other options like bball and tennis but we didn't have time to check that out. The free breakfast in the morning was absolutely perfect!! Scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, fluffy pancakes, country potatoes... And more. The service was wonderful as well. We had 2 rooms and all were pleasantly surprised. That said... The rooms could be slightly updated and that would make a huge difference! Great overall value and will definitely be back!! read more

The only complaint about this place is that the walls are so thin that I could hear people walking and snoring upstairs. However, for the price, healthy breakfast & hors d'oeuvres are included and I was super impressed with the quality of the food. Best please to go after hiking the grand canyon if its open. Out side of town. Horse back riding. After a couple drinks from the resort bar, take a nice walk and chance after the bunnies under the stars. I enjoyed myself. Very quiet and peace full. Old rooms, Check in time is 2PM. we arrived at 1PM. There were plenty of available rooms however the lady at the desk said we could not check in until noon and I should go to Williams for lunch. If I had not pre-paid for the room through Hotels.com I would have stayed in Williams as there are perhaps 20 hotels there read more

This is not the quality of hotel expected at ~$150 per night. Rooms are very basic with no extras like mini-fridges or complimentary small items. Bed are worn out and uncomfortable. The "pool" and "spa" have been filled in with cement and have an old chain-link fence around them. The "stable" is a small plywood shack encircled by several old corral panels tied together. I didn't see any horses in the 3 days I spent at the hotel. There is no restaurant in this hotel. There is a hotel shop, but it only sells clothing. The staff is very poorly trained and everyone person I spoke to expressed that this was their first season at the hotel. Housekeeping made the beds only, garbage cans were left full and we had to go the front desk for fresh towels. Please don't compromise your vacation by staying here! The little town of Williams is less than 3 miles away and has many many hotels at half the price and double the quality. read more
