Don't waste your money here. Drive seven miles to Williams and get a decent hotel with an actual breakfast.

I stayed in one of their modern glamping domes, and it completely exceeded my expectations. The dome was spacious, beautifully designed, and SO cozy--complete with a plush bed, a private bathroom with a real toilet and hot shower, a wood-burning stove, and floor-to-ceiling windows that made me feel connected to nature while staying completely comfortable. The staff is amazing--so warm, welcoming, and attentive. From check-in to check-out, they go above and beyond to make your stay feel special. I also had dinner at their on-site restaurant and was seriously impressed. The food is fresh, thoughtful, and absolutely delicious--definitely a highlight of the trip. Whether you're looking to disconnect and recharge, explore nearby spots like the Grand Canyon and Flagstaff, or just relax and enjoy beautiful views, Backland is the spot. Peaceful, serene, and unforgettable. Highly recommend for couples, solo travelers, families--honestly anyone who wants a unique and relaxing getaway. I can't wait to come back!

The staff is really friendly. Everyone had a smile on their face and constantly said hello. It was very welcoming. The Trail house and art studio are great additions to the property. You can't take art classes or rent equipment for hikes or bike rides. In both spaces the people are very knowledgeable. Food choices are good. They have coffee shop with a variety of snacks and a couple restaurants. The pool is nice and the tennis bc outta and pickleball courts couldn't have a more scenic view. The Bad - The rooms are pretty dated. They need an upgrade at those prices. I had a patio to sit on but didn't have any chairs on the patio so I couldn't really use it. The room was dark and dim. No soft close toilet seat. Bathroom products were pretty average. Food prices are out of control. I realize it's a resort and we are a captive audience, bit please don't make things grossly overpriced. Don't pay for a private biking tour. Go yourself. The prices for those are outrageous. Download All Trails and go it on your own. Otherwise homes are going to run you $350 per person. That's just not worth it unless you middle name is "moneybags".

The Dome was very spacious and clean. It was well appointed and came with the daily tools that your need; hair dryer and steamer for your clothes. There was a loft in our dome that came with a double bed and a single bed so you can easily fit 5 people in the Deluxe Dome. We didn't stay in the Dome in the afternoon because it was too hot so we went up to Grand Canyon for a bit. We were told to set the AC at 72 when we checked in but it didn't really work well against the brutal heat so their kind staff came in a couple hours later and lowered it all the way down to 68 and brought in another fan to help cool down the Dome. Speaking of the staff, they are all super friendly and helpful! We also met Malik during breakfast. Oh my what a friendly, helpful and resilient man. In the evening, they provide complimentary smore which was also a big hit with the kiddos, and me! We also enjoyed the star gazing activity - we learned so much in a short 30 min session. They also have a movie dome which we didn't get to check out. Oh and live music in the evening - that's awesome especially for a hotel that's in the middle of a desert! Let's talk about breakfast - it was delicious!! We had the Stargazer Bowl and the Waffle with Banana Foster - YUM!!! We also tried the Chocolate Croissant; very flake, slightly overbaked but otherwise great flavor and lamination. Definitely a great option to stay here while visiting the Grand Canyon for a unique and fun experience. I really think it's great to have businesses like this as they are not only providing everyone with the opportunities to create wonderful memories but also job opportunities for the upcoming generation from the local communities.

However, when we initially arrived, the young front desk agent with red hair appeared to be on a personal phone call. She ended the call by saying "I love you," which made it seem like it may have been a conversation with a friend. After the call she greeted us, but throughout the interaction she seemed unsure and a bit confused about the information she was giving. I would strongly suggest additional training on customer service and job knowledge to ensure guests feel welcomed and confident in the information they receive. Especially at a property where guests are paying around $1,000 a night, first impressions and professionalism are very important. Aside from that initial front desk experience, everything else about our stay was wonderful.
