Came here for a surprise birthday celebration and had such a great experience from start to finish! We were honestly disappointed we didn't stay longer. The room was extremely clean and had everything we needed, including a private bathroom and shower, all the basic necessities, and a beautiful view of the forest. It was truly the perfect place to glamp, clear your mind, slow down, and just enjoy the scenery and stars. There was plenty to do during our stay too. We went fishing, made s'mores by the fire, enjoyed some Cutwaters, and spent time at the stargazing area at night. Dinner was definitely the highlight. Chef D absolutely hooked us up! We had the ribeye, ribs, Brussels sprouts, seasonal chef vegetables, mac & cheese, wild rice, and a side of shrimp. The mac & cheese was DIVINE, and the wild rice genuinely brought back memories of the kind my grandma used to make. Everything was so good, and we also had some great conversation with Chef D, which made the experience even more memorable. Breakfast was pretty standard, nothing too fancy, but dinner was absolutely the showstopper. Huge shoutout to Chef D! The staff overall made our stay even better. Chris, Eric, Alexis, and the wonderful woman working the day shift who took our Polaroid photo were all amazing and made us feel so welcome. Overall, this was such a peaceful little escape and the perfect place to disconnect, reset, and enjoy nature without giving up the comforts of a nice room. Between the forest views, stars, activities, food, and amazing staff, we had such a great time. We can't wait to come back, and our only regret is that we didn't stay longer! read more

Beautiful property and the views and stargazing are perfect. The inside of the tent is so spacious, clean and outside has chairs as well as the hot tub that we paid extra for. I would recommend getting the tent with the hot tub. There was also a telescope in our room which was very fun! Breakfast is included - pretty basic but nice to have. The one thing I would say needs to be improved is the walking paths that are "paved". They are absolutely not paved, we went all over the property trying to look for them and the map that they give you is not accurate. Nothing was paved. We tried going for a morning run/ walk and ended up getting destroyed by mosquitoes trying to find this path that doesn't exist. Needless to say we couldn't go for a nice morning run/walk. Please bring bug spray , the mosquitoes are no joke. read more

We fell for all the good reviews, but most of them are probably A-i generated; especially, the ones on booking.com.This place has gone down hill. The food was overpriced, there were no maps provided for the hiking trails in the area, no clear walk paths on the property. I was very disappointed. At arrival the sheets were dirty with hair in it, floors not swept...The workers that live on site appeared to be on vacation. It seemed like they were all just staring at the dust, weeds, overgrown grass, dirty lake, broken, and rusted outdoor activities....‍ You shouldn't advertise things you don't have because when you do that's called False Advertisement! "Chef-prepared meals, private bathrooms...." If there's no chef on staff, you shouldn't charge chef prices. If my spouse hears me use the bathroom, it's not that private..... Now, you will experience the quiet dark skies and see the beautiful stars. They do offer plenty of books & board games, a chance to roast s'more's, Days Inn style breakfast, but lets be honest, Days Inn is not "Luxury" so why are they serving cereal and fruit...,,Last, you will get a chance to see wild life just not on the property. You have to drive towards the hiking trails. Please do your research before coming here...even call ahead of time to find out if the chef is available because it's quite a drive into town R/T. Let me first start out with positives, 5/5 stars for customer service, shout out to Alexis! She's great! The forest and wildlife were amazing, skylight tents were nice and modern. Excellent idea for complementary s'mores night daily! very quiet property, we loved the peacefulness and the scenic views 5/5 stars! It was nice having their resort GPS however my Apple Maps GPS worked just fine. It took me straight to the property, so using their app GPS, totally optional. You really don't need it. Now.. for the negatives, ATTENTION: owners, and resort management: the resort amenities were extremely disappointing. Everything was either broken, dirty, or not usable. If management is reading this, please take more initiative in taking better care of the resort property. - We were looking forward to kayaking however, the property lake was very swampy and full of leaves plus the kayak themselves were dirty. Seems like they're left out overnight. - The actual property was way overgrown with brush and weeds growing, we measured over 46 inches of weeds around the property, at least make decent walking paths for the guest, not have to bushwhack our way through the property. - The volleyball and tetherball games were poorly managed, there was no net for the volleyball and the tether ball had weed barrier sticking out of the bottom - Horse stable are rusted abandoned, and overgrown. Seems like it's been like that for a few years now since they used it , if you're not using it, tear it down replace it with something more usable or bring back horse riding - They also advertise gourmet chef prepared meals however when we arrived, we were told that the chef was on "vacation", instead they will offer you $35 pizza, $45 per person chicken/mac and cheese and $35 tacos, extremely overpriced. The breakfast was just hard-boiled eggs, toast, cereal, and fruit with yogurt, even though I've seen other reviews that say they used to have a crêpe bar. If you do not have a gourmet chef on property just be honest and say so, I understand that people take vacations from work, but if that was a lie, please be honest about it. - Overall the resort property was messy for the price that you pay, over $1400 for two nights in a sky view tent and you get a lot of overgrown brush and weeds, unusable amenities with a swampy lake. There is another glamping resort about an hour north from Backland called "Clearsky Resorts", we actually checked that out the same day when we were leaving Backland, just out of curiosity and they are as advertised online, we will be staying there on our next glamping trip, as of now sadly I would not recommend Backland resorts, you're better off just camping in the wilderness on your own read more

If I could give Backland more than 5 stars, I would! This place is a hidden gem just outside of Williams, AZ, and it's truly the perfect mix of luxury and nature. I stayed in one of their modern glamping domes, and it completely exceeded my expectations. The dome was spacious, beautifully designed, and SO cozy--complete with a plush bed, a private bathroom with a real toilet and hot shower, a wood-burning stove, and floor-to-ceiling windows that made me feel connected to nature while staying completely comfortable. The staff is amazing--so warm, welcoming, and attentive. From check-in to check-out, they go above and beyond to make your stay feel special. I also had dinner at their on-site restaurant and was seriously impressed. The food is fresh, thoughtful, and absolutely delicious--definitely a highlight of the trip. Whether you're looking to disconnect and recharge, explore nearby spots like the Grand Canyon and Flagstaff, or just relax and enjoy beautiful views, Backland is the spot. Stayed here for a couple of nights and loved it! Tents are spacious and comfy. Onsite dining is great. Staff is AMAZING! Chase felt like a guy we've known for years. Star gazing, fishing, frisbee golf, board games, s'mores...all the greatest parts of camping but with real beds, heat/AC and running water. About an hour from the Grand Canyon. One of the most magical stays I've ever had at any lodging property. Directions to get there were easy to follow, and once there it felt like being in another world - stunning dark skies with more stars than I've ever seen in my life. Great small touches and amenities throughout - from slippers to a nice selection of board games to take back to the room to a telescope set up at night to kayaks for use on the small pond. Food was great. Tabitha was the best server I've ever had in my life. We were only going to do dinner one night in the restaurant, and actually ended up driving back from the Grand Canyon the next night to eat again just to have her as our server again. Friendly, knowledgable, and fun. Can't rave enough about her. All around this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and a great home base if you're doing the Grand Canyon (it took us about an hour and a half to get there), or just want to get off the grid for a little while. They're new, and I can only imagine they're going to keep improving - next time we'll definitely try to get one of the hot tub rooms, which seem to book up well in advance (naturally). read more

This was absolutely mind blowing incredible (and dog-friendly) experience! The tent was very nice and clean and the view is spectacular. You're surrounded by 360° forest/nature and there's something to be amazed at any time of day. The weather was amazing but in case it's not ideal for you, the tents have AC/heating. The gourmet food was incredible and made to order and very accommodating for dietary restrictions. Every staff member we met was extremely kind and helpful. The chickens were not very helpful but very adorable! Weather permitting, they have nightly s'mores campfires, but the sky absolutely steals the show. Being from a large city, I see pictures of starry night skies online and go uh huh, sure, these are probably enhanced, but wow, nature really puts on a spectacular show and it is humbling to experience! The staff was so awesome, pointing out constellations and bringing out their telescope. Morning at sunrise is equally visually stunning. We woke up to watching the sun turn the sky pink against the tree line and even saw a herd of elk! Breakfast was great with excellent offerings and walking and kayaking after was a nice way to round out our stay. Thanks so much to everyone at Backland for making this an unforgettable adventure! This was our first experience glamping and it certainly set a high standard! We only stayed for less than 24 hours and as we were leaving, we all were thinking the same thing, that we should've stayed longer. With each reservation, they give very clear directions through a podcast. The app you download has GPS tracking and it'll give the next set of directions based on your location. If you arrive unprepared, you'll most likely get lost because our reception was pretty spotty. We checked into our site (there's a total of 10) and immediately began to explore the area. Right by the lobby, there's a small lake and the kayaks and paddleboards were free to be used. There's also a chest with frisbees, various sports balls, etc. The lobby has fishing rods but from what I heard, there's barely any fish...they have plans to bring in bigger ones in the future! At night, they gave all the glampers their own smores kit and even set up a telescope to look at the moon. Since we were pretty far from civilization, you could easily see constellations and faint glimpses of the Milky Way. As for the actual glamp site, we had a large one that fit two beds, a sofa bed, and a rollout bed. There was still more than enough room for a small coffee table and floor space for all of our luggage. The bathroom was spacious and plenty of hot water for the showers. The only downside is that the bathroom space isn't fully enclosed so everyone hears everything in the bathroom. They're all fitted with a mini-split AC that kept our room at a bearable temperature. There is a fridge but it's tiny so don't expect to store much. Highly recommend if you're able to spend a couple of days here! We didn't get a chance to hike around the area and I think you can even go horseback riding. It's a nice break from setting everything up to having everything set up by someone else. read more

Backland gets to be one of the top destinations in the US. This place is magical The trek in is about 30 minutes and there is an audio they provide so you won't get lost. It feels like you may be lost but enjoy the beautiful scenery and view. It's incredible! Once you get to the compound, the layout of the land is really cool. We ended up in #1 which was the only open reservation and it's also Ada compliant. The rooms are fun and equipped with stylish and quality furniture. The layout is straightforward and functional with a spectacular view. Everything is thoughtfully and carefully designed/chosen. Dinner reservation must be made as the food is made to order with freshest of ingredients. The lobby/cafeteria is a cute building right next to the lake and common area. The view again is spectacular!!! The food is the kicker here.... Every bite of food I put into my mouth was heavenly. This is no ordinary cook in the kitchen. The flavors are so sophisticated and purposeful, and the ingredients are good stuff. We have tried the charcuterie board, radicchio salad, cano salad, arugula salad, mole steak (twice), burger, and the cookie + vanilla bean Ice cream in the cast iron. Everything was yummy!!!! The last day, it ended up snowing out of nowhere but it really added to the trip and made it so special. So special that we ended up getting engaged here at Backland Glamping in Williams, Arizona! We had a fabulous stay at Backland! Our accommodations had all of the best qualities of camping that we love but without ANY of the work and hassles. The dome tent was spacious and cozy. One of the coolest features was being able to see the stars from the sky view window above our bed. I woke up in the middle of the night once and just enjoyed the moment. The location is quiet, peaceful, and the perfect atmosphere to unwind. The food was amazing! Not your typical bar food selection that was expected. Their items were freshly made and delicious. The finale of S'mores every evening was a small thing, but it was a treat that I looked forward to during out stay. The complimentary breakfast was a beautiful array of healthy options. Every member of the staff that we encountered were friendly and helpful. We found Jodi and Chase to go beyond expectations in making sure that we had everything that we needed. It was a bit pricey to stay there but we found it to be worth the splurge for us. read more

Chase is really helpful and knowledgeable and goes above and beyond to make sure guests are comfortable. We definitely recommend staying here if you need a getaway in nature away from the hustle and bustle of daily work life . The potential of Backland is great! Such a great location and an exciting website. However the execution for my 4 nights was terrible. My tent was filthy upon arrival and I could not get any housekeeping service.. The AC Remote did not work. Rear Patio light was broken. They said they were short on staff and the dining menu was very limited. They advertise horseback riding but did not have any horses. A very disappointing experience for the price they charge. Management told me they were going to compensate me for all the problems during my stay...They never followed through on this either. read more
