Good food and good service! Some of the best BBQ I've had in a while! They also were constantly cleaning services to keep everyone healthy.

Swung in here on my way home from working out of town and it was amazing. I ordered the burnt end and beef brisket plate with the mountain beans and sweet potato fries and everything was delicious!!! Not friendly staff. BBQ very dry. Tables not cleaned. Said to arrive early. Burnt ends were burnt alright. Know every place has a bad day. But, staff more interested in conversing with one another than their customers. Probably will not return. read more

This food is so damn dry it's crazy, the chicken is the best thing there but it's still mid at max. BUT!!!! the tea is good

I did not try their barbecue but was disappointed in the chicken salad sandwich and the fried green tomatoes. I'm not a fan of chicken salad with apples in it and the sandwich bread was not sturdy enough to hold the huge chunks of smoked chicken they put in it. The fried green tomatoes were incredibly soggy on the inside. I tried all their sauces and all but one are way too sweet and syrupy. The inside decor and the way the restaurant is set up is really appealing and they have outdoor seating for the summer time. Parking is very tight. read more

This is the real deal, y'all. I stopped in on my way to Tennessee from South Carolina. The portions are ample and the food is fresh. The hot wings are amazing. They appear to be smoked, then fried which gives them a nice crispy skin and a wonderful smoky flavor. Fried okra was also great and the potato salad was AMAZING. My fiancé got the beef brisket which was also good. I will keep this place in mind if I'm ever back in the area! read more

One of my favorite places to eat in Polk County, NC. They serve amazing bbq sandwiches with flavorful sides. Their seasoned fries are my favorite! They stock multiple different flavors of Old Mule bbq sauce, which goes wonderfully with bbq pork sandwich. I think they even have some homemade desserts for sale! The interior is nice, and it has good ambiance. Similar to the feel that you get from Zaxby's, but without all the junk on the walls. Whenever I'm in NC, I try to eat here, and I recommend it. read more

Food is great..always enjoy getting bbq from here. Very disappointed that the staff were not wearing masks.

They must use a smokeless bbq method, because I never see or smell that telltale bbq smell. Maybe they do it somewhere else? Anyway, the food is passable. And as the only bbq joint in the area, I guess that's as good as you need to be. read more

It was raining so hard today but the food was worth it! I got the pulled pork platter with okra and sweet potato fries and it was perfection! The sweet potato fries were perfectly cooked and tasted amazing with the honey butter. The place was clean and the staff was nice and quick to refill/organize things. My corn nuggets came out a bit late because they had just started cooking some, but we're very quick to get them out and were so nice about it so I had no worries. I don't eat out much, but when I do this place is a favorite. I live nearby so I've had the food enough to say the pulled pork is consistently well prepared and it's always free of fat or gristle. Stopped by yesterday for lunch. These guys (she knows what she's doing) know bbq. I had pulled pork and hash n rice combo dinner. The hash is prepared with beef and pork. That's the proper way to make it and the best way to enjoy it. Sauces are good and the sides of fries and slaw are generous and good. I also tried the beans from my buddies plate and they were good as well. I will be back as the food, service and facilities are above par for a bbq "joint"! read more

The staff was friendly and the food was great. I had the 50/50 barbecue sandwich, which was part pulled beef brisket, and part pulled pork. Every bite was delicious, and moist throughout. Also, the selection of vinegar-based, mustard-based, and traditional BBQ sauces made it appropriate for a place on the Carolina-Tennessee border area. I will definitely stop here again the next time I come through. read more

We're from NC, love the region, try to support locally owned businesses, so I don't take this poor review lightly. On November 2, they got the to-go order completely wrong. The sandwiches that were correct, had nothing other than meat and bread. They also provided no napkins, utensils, condiments etc. and when we asked for the above you would have thought we were asking for a cure for cancer. The final straw was when my wife asked for some thousand island dressing for her dry sandwich, the young lady told her that thousand island was for the reuben and would only give her ranch. And just for the record, there are much better BBQ places around, just not at this exit. read more

I haven't been here in a while, but this was a very regular stop of mine when I lived in the area. The price is right and the food is amazing. The owner, Shane, really knows how to make some good 'cue. The potato salad has to have crack in it. I am addicted. Bottom line...this place is the best. We found this restaurant just a stone's throw off of the interstate highway. The parking lot was full of local cars - - - always a good sign. The pulled pork sandwich was great and all of the sides we ordered were just as good (delicious potato salad, amazing coleslaw, and the homemade chips were fantastic). I wish I could give this place a better rating. The food is good, not fantastic but good. However, every time I've ever been here, the service is lacking. Usually a very young staff, that seems to care less. Not warmly greeted when you walk in. Don't say thank you. There is nothing to make me want to return. They need to work on service. read more

Stopped in for dinner- decided to order the special (Shane's?) that included 4 wings, 4 ribs, french fries, garlic toast and pulled pork. Had the ribs there long ago and was not impressed- this time they were better but I dislike the connective tissue left hiding under the meat on the small end. Most places cut this off. The pulled pork was ok but I did encounter a few pieces of gristle in it. Wings were ok, nothing special. The garlic toast- really? A regular piece of whitebread from a sliced loaf with a little, very little, butter or garlic. When I was ordereing I asked the cashier about the flavors wanting to know what the house flavor was- she had no idea but said it must be good. WTH? All in all it came to about $20 for one- somewhat high for bbq in my experience. For that much it better be perfect. read more

I have had good food and good service at Mountain View restaurant on numerous occasions. The plum good wings are genuinely 'plum good'! OK, I stopped in a couple of days ago and ordered a two meat plate. Let me say that the brisket was way to fat to suit me and the smoked chicken was over cooked and dry. We've dined and bought take-out for three or four years, bought their annual Thanksgiving dinner for the past two. Everything excellent. Customer service always good. I love really good BBQ (but not that Eastern NC minced stuff they call BBQ) and Mountain View seed it up about as good as it comes. I tried a sampler and it was fantastic all the way around. The pulled pork was moist, flavorful and smokey. The ribs fall off the bone. The brisket was a little tougher than my preference but still well above average. I loved the corn dodgers, and the homemade chips and baked beans trimmed the experience quite nicely. A solid five star rating. read more
