I had searched a bunch of different movers and picked this one not just because they gave me the best price, but just by talking to the owner Joe on the phone, I had the feeling that they would be good to deal with. Well moving day came and they showed u right on time and got right to it with no delay. Not once did I see the 2 movers taking a break or even walking slow. They were fast, efficient, and very careful. At the new location they placed everything exactly where we wanted it, never hitting a wall or scratching the floor. I had used Joe's movers many years ago and the service had been excellent. This time however, I cannot say the same. We used them for a three person move on June 28. They were quick and efficient but the two guys other than the foreman just seemed like they didn't want to do anything more than the bare minimum. I especially did not care for snide remarks like when the foreman asked them to carry the washer upstairs instead dragging it on a dolly, one of them said "yeah, rather damage our backs instead of the floor". When we asked him to switch the orientation of the couches, he made it abundantly clear that customer service was probably the last thing on his mind. "Hey guys... they want to move the couches again. We love it when we are asked to re-do stuff" was the snarky response. If you are charging by the hour, why does it matter if stuff has to be re-done? And today, I noticed that they lost about half the screws from the guest bed and the frame has started falling apart. Its a good thing that I noticed it before our guests arrive this weekend. Who would be responsible if someone got hurt as a result of their shoddy assembly? One of our shoe cabinets also broke during the move, but some amount damage is expected and I let that slide. I think next time I will pay a little bit more and get someone more professional. I have moved six times in the last 9 years in the LA area and this was the worst moving experience I have had. read more

I found Joe's advertisement on CL and gave him a call. Joe answered and gave me a quote, as well as his availability (he's pretty flexible). The next day, Joe and his colleague Brad arrived at my apartment on time to move a couple of heavy items. I was so impressed with their professionalism and customer service. They both referred to me by my first name and were very pleasant people, especially on a Monday morning. Joe and his gang light up my life! Today was the third time I've used them in as many years. I have a TON of stuff, some of which is VERY heavy. These guys get right to work and don't stop till the job is done. They barely took a moment to drink the lemonade I gave them. The price Joe charges is very fair; no hidden fees or add-ons. In fact, today--because of how much stuff I have and because I was having them fill up two U-Boxes which turned out to be way smaller than I'd anticipated and had to be packed very creatively--the job took a little longer than Joe said it would. He did not charge me more for the extra time, even though it was totally not their fault that it took longer. Joe and the guys he works with are all so nice and friendly, which takes some of the stress out of moving. My friends and I have used Joe M's moving company for my last 3 moves over the past 5 years. And I will use them for the next 5 years I am sure. Not only are they always friendly, and professional, and careful with all your stuff, they figure out on the spot how best way to deal with tricky situations. For example, I was moving a king sized, heavy Dux bed into a condo unit, but the angle and limited size the stairway leading to the second level would not allow anyone to move that bed up to the second floor. The first moving company (hired by my employer) couldn't figure it out and said I needed to hire a crane and lift it from ground floor to the 6th floor - seriously? Joe's movers (who were hired by my roommate at the time) figured it out in a second and just said to move the bed to the first floor balcony, then left it up the second balcony of the unit. They used winches and blankets and straps and it did not look easy but they made it happen. All in a days work for those guys! I have pretty nice furniture too but these guys blanket and plastic wrap everything so tight that I have never had any damage - not even a scratch. Add the bonus that their price is very competitive - i.e. they have lower prices than most other "professional" movers. Joe's movers is the only moving company I will ever hire when I'm in LA. The entire experience was first-rate from start to finish. I called two days in advance to move some very large, heavy furniture from a Los Feliz apartment to a home 30 miles away. Joe himself answered the 'phone on the first call (and every time I called back). He immediately booked me for a convenient time, laid out the very reasonable rates for two guys and a van, and emailed a page to be returned for booking confirmation. Instant peace of mind. Two days later, moving day went as cleanly as the booking. Two personable, professional men (Johnny and James) arrived as planned and had everything in the van in record time. They quickly assessed access at the unloading site and had everything in place in half an hour, wrote a receipt for the two-hour minimum and left a satisfied customer waving goodbye. First time I've been inspired to write a yelp review. Joe's Movers are awesome. I called on a thursday, and scheduled my move for saturday morning. Joe and Johnny showed up on time, ready to work. They moved my 1 Bedroom stuff in under 3 hours. There was a 3 hour minimum, so when they were done they even offered to do anything else for me since there was time left (unpack, throw stuff out, etc..) These guys are the worst movers I ever came across, all they give is attitude. We called, they sounded good, however when they came to the storage place from where they had to pick the stuff, this one guy started throwing tantrum saying is the stuff ready, i want everything to be lined up and extremely rude person, second this guy was so careless, he was not even moving the stuff with care and when we told to be careful, he walked out saying he cannot do this. This left us high and dry, and then went to near by home depot, got a truck and got 2 guys who moved stuff for us. We saved money and also learnt a lesson. Such a great cause! As someone who works in production, I truly appreciate what these guys are doing. To my surprise, they were more professional than most other moving companies that I've used in the past. They kept me updated on arrival time, weren't late, and completed the move quickly and efficiently. Nothing was damaged or stolen, and the guys were courteous and respectful. It was extremely easy to get a quote, coordinate and schedule the move. They accept payment via check or card, and carry an iPad for easy payment. My mom sold the house I grew up in. In the end, we were able to condense 40 years of accumulated stuff down to the size of 3 storage lockers. So when it came time to move to a new place, the thought of having to go through all of it again was extremely unappealing and tiring.
