A colleague recommend this company but my experience was the complete opposite from what he had. The guys were nice excluding one guy, I forget his name, I just remember he's an older black guy from Panama, which I found interestingly cool. I noticed a huge change in this guys attitude, he started off friendly and then became extremely irritated and argumentative once he arrived at the move in destination. This guy has long fingernails and he pierced 2 holes into my keyboard stool with his nails. Why this guy has long fingernails I don't know! and he's a mover! There was no apology from this guy, I complained to the main guy and he offered to knock off some time. It just pissed me off how this guy didn't even bother to acknowledge his mistake, he completely dismissed it, his attitude was like "sh*t happens, you'll just have to deal with it". It was shocking to me. I couldn't help but think "What kind of company is this?" So I called up the company and spoke to a nice British guy named Tim, he was very understanding and sent a cheque of $21 but my keyboard stool cost around $40 - $50. I explained how I upset I was with this experience but Tim's point was "Well we sent out 3 guys instead of 2, which helped you save money". I'm getting the impression the company does this a lot, trying to make people feel like they're saving money. Yes there were 3 guys but it was mainly 2 guys doing all the work and 1 guy sorting out the paper work. Second problem, I had 4 plastic protectors to hold the glass top onto my desk. They lost one and tried to tell me that there were only 3. It made me so mad. I used that desk every day for the past 2 years. I know that there's 4 plastic protectors!! Third problem, I was originally going to put the bed back together myself because they were just pissing me off but then I thought I'd have problems doing it myself so I asked them to do it. One guy realised that there were some screws missing so they spent a bit of time trying to find these screws. Eventually they found them and put the bed back together. Guess what? They lied!! I should have checked the bed before they left. Last night I rolled over to the left side of my bed (I always sleep on the right) and the bed suddenly collapsed. I looked down to check my bed and noticed that the left side had screws missing! THEY NEVER FOUND THE SCREWS!! They just roughly put it back together hoping I wouldn't notice. When it came to paying, I left $9 tip because I was unhappy. I wasn't even going to leave a tip but the guy didn't ask me if I wanted change back or anything so I thought whatever, just keep it. When he checked the money, he smiled with a little laugh and kinda shook his head. I just can't get over this company. The photos I'm seeing on yelp are just so phony to me now. I wanted to give it 1 star but because of Tim and the other 2 polite movers, I thought I'd give it 2 stars. I cannot recommend this company to anyone. I am really surprised by all of the positive reviews for this company. If I could give them a zero I would. I have moved approximately 20 times in the last 30 years, and this company was by far the worst. They were completely unprepared and rude. They threw my things into boxes with complete disregard. They told me that they would help me pack up my apartment, and when the mover arrived he said he wouldn't do the job because it was too stressful for him to pack! They then said they wouldn't do the job and threatened to leave. Hello! Maybe you should find another line of work?! Mind you, this was a one bedroom apartment, not a huge house. I stood there in absolute panic and disbelief at what I was hearing, after the person who booked the job urged me to "leave it all to them" and assured me that his company would take care of everything. What a joke. In addition to their horrible, rude attitude, the movers were completely unprepared. They had NO BOXES on their truck, despite advertising and sending a brochure telling me to relax, and that they would pack up anything I didn't have time to pack myself, and despite advertising that they offer free boxes. Yeah, right. I actually had to run out and buy boxes and tape for them during the move. I honestly was considering reporting this company to the Better Business Bureau and/or filing a small claims court action to get my money back after I recovered from this horrific moving experience. I am physically disabled and so in addition to being a nightmare, I was actually injured in having to help these bozos because they were so ill prepared and incompetent. I urge you to consider another company. I am not being hyperbolic. This company was appallingly, shockingly bad. I am starting to think that the positive reviews for this company on here might be shills or friends of the company who posted. I cannot imagine that we are speaking about the same company. You hope the day you move to a new home, all goes swimmingly and you have a great first story to tell about life in your new digs. I'm super grateful to these guys for being professional, kind, fun and efficient and helping us make the transition as smooth as possible. Everything about them and the way they interacted was great. I researched movers on Yelp (that was it), and booked 2 weeks out with a phone call and it was super streamlined. The guys arrived early(!) and got to work immediately, handling our stuff respectfully and navigating around my 7 and 10 year olds with surprising kindness. We talked with them as we all packed stuff in wardrobe boxes and they were personable in the same measure as they were professional. They finished loading everything out pretty much exactly as estimated. When we got to our new place and I wasn't sure what to put where, they were quite diligent about putting the boxes in the rooms as labeled and for furniture, they actually helped me figure out how to lay out a number of the rooms to best maximize the space. Our move was kind of last minute and I didn't have time to fully prepare, so it was especially helpful to have them offer their sharp insights given the subject matter expertise. I'm sure there are lots of great movers in LA. The nice thing about these guys is they were that, and also just kind of went a step further to be great people as they were doing their jobs. Completely high-quality, top of the line professionalism. Like a previous Yelper commented: "WOWOWOWOWOW!" These guys are unbelievable! When you call them, you are quickly at peace. They have outstanding customer service and tell you EVERYTHING you need to know---nothing hidden or in fine print. Once the move date was confirmed, they mailed to me a confirmation notice, safety booklet, their contract (just to assure us that they don't hide anything and gives us plenty of time to read it on our own time), and a call the day before the move to confirm they will be coming the next day. Our move was on a Thursday, 8am, coming in exactly at that time, maneuvering their AWESOME (and standard!) 26-foot truck into our apartment complex's driveway. Paco and Javier were our movers---two outstanding and fun to talk to guys, very professional. It baffles me how much energy these guys have---they didn't seem tired all day! The move was from Mar Vista to San Pedro, one bedroom to a one bedroom, both on the second floor, taking about 4.5 hours total for the move. When it came to pay, they wrote the exact times they came and went, not charging for their break, and completely honest on all fronts. We tipped them well. I don't see why anyone would want to choose other companies, honestly. These guys rock, plain and simple---their prices are very low ($84/hour) and cut costs if you pay cash. A Better Way To Move- HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!! I can't say enough good things about this company! They are the best, they moved me fast! Bryan and Rafael were 15 minutes early, the clock started on-time per my move time.I had things at 2 places to get moved, they had my living room, kitchen and bedroom/clothes items on the truck and we went to my storage unit where the rest of my stuff was, they packed up my entire storage unit, then we went to my new place and they put everything where I asked them to, they took great care of my stuff! I have a glass table top coffee table and end table for my living room, and heavy wood dining room set and kitchen hutch. They take AMAZING care of the most delicate to the most heavy items you own. They are a GREAT team and I am so happy I used this company. My mom is going to use this company in 3 months because of my experience! My entire move was done in 3 hours! We hired this company to move furniture and it was a very good experience. Javier and Alex were the two guys I worked with and they were efficient and professional. Unfortunately, it rained the entire day of the move, which I feel may have slowed down the process a little bit (plus the flooring around my building has no traction, so they had to move carefully). They were friendly and wrapped everything beautifully. The company also accommodated a fairly last-minute move and they didn't charge extra for stairs or wrapping things (which other companies did). It ended up being a bit more than I hoped to pay, but I would say the rain and traffic close to rush-hour on a Friday were the culprits for slowing down the process. Keep those things in mind when you're moving in LA...time is money and traffic is time! Check the weather forecast and if you can do it in the morning, in the middle of the week, you're probably better off. Live and learn. read more

This was my first time using a moving company and any move from here on out, I will not hesitate to call A Better Way to Move and use their services. Paul F. and Jose showed up on time, took a look around and got right to work. I was moving from a one bedroom upper in Long Beach to a one bedroom upper in West LA. They got the entire job done, door to door in 3 hours and 45 minutes. Both Paul and Jose worked quickly, efficiently and with smiles on their faces (and a few jokes thrown in for good measure). They took great care of all of my belongings, wrapping everything carefully. I had a couch delivery later that day and they were very careful to make sure that everything was placed somewhere that would not interfere with the couch delivery. Hands down one of the best moving experiences I've had. I hired them to move me out of my 2 bedroom apartment, and did 3 guys + a large truck for $135/hour which I felt was reasonable. They were on time, dealt with my terrible building losing the elevator locking key, didn't complain, and got the job done in under 7 hours from start to finish. They made sure to bring extra boxes, tape, furniture wraps, the whole 9 yards. Also the communication with the owner was very smooth. No nonsense guys that hustle and get the job done and even make helpful little suggestions along the way that prove invaluable. He was able to offer us a few customizations over the two-day move (i.e. getting our beds / baby crib) to the new house the first day with everything following the next day) that made the move easier on the family. Outstanding moving company! We moved last weekend from Los Angeles to San Diego. We had three drop off locations. The pick up was amazingly efficient and very well orchestrated by the foreman Axel. All the guys were thoughtful, considerate and none of our requests created any complaints. After reading all the great reviews I decided to give them a try. The booking was professional, they were early, were extremely helpful and nothing was damaged. They were also really efficient both in loading and unloading and in the planning as I had two stops. One of my concerns is always who is actually going to move you, see your stuff, and know where you live. Fernando & Luis were extremely professional and trustworthy and I would request them again. I actually joined Yelp so that I could write a review for "A Better Way to Move". I originally found them on this site and they were as terrific as everyone said. Paco and his crew arrived a few minutes early, worked very hard and couldn't have been more pleasant throughout the whole day. They managed to bring heavy furniture up a staircase. When they couldn't bring up my computer desk, they took it apart and put it back together perfectly! They are just amazing and I also definitely recommend them. read more
