I had a cold call knock on my door after 8:00 pm from this company. This is very poor business practice. The last thing I want is to be bothered at my home when I'm down for the evening. I basically shut the door in his face,and sent him away. I may have been more accommodating during the day at a reasonable hour. I don't need pest control, and I'll tell you for sure that if I do I won't be calling Moxie. Your not even in my area! Sales tactics. The sales guy was a push, quick talking salesman. And, he was caught lying and didn't seem to care.

My doorbell rang today, and it was a young man claiming to be from Moxy, attempting to sell pest control services. I informed him that our community has a strict no-soliciting policy, but he showed no concern. When I asked if he had registered with the Town or Police to obtain a permit, he claimed he had--but when I requested to see it, he refused. His dismissive and confrontational attitude made me feel unsafe. Unfortunately, I later learned that several of my neighbors had similarly negative encounters with this individual, describing him as rude and belligerent. He had no identification, no name tag, and nothing to clearly indicate who he was or which company he represented. I reported the incident to the police for everyone's safety. Later, I spoke with a customer service representative from Moxy. While they listened to my concerns, they laughed and giggled throughout the conversation, which felt extremely unprofessional and dismissive. I strongly recommend the company train its employees--both salespeople and support staff--on how to engage respectfully with potential customers. Door-to-door solicitation is already intrusive, and behavior like this only further alienates people. We deserve to feel safe in our homes and to know exactly who is approaching our doors and why. read more

Received an email at 9:55 with a Tracking link of the guy who was going to come do my Pest Control. He was due to arrive in 10 minutes. I heard some talking outside and noticed that the same Pest Control company was doing my next-door neighbor's house. Of course I was not immediately after them as I had a different representative. Every 10 minutes the arrival time was updated for a later time. I tried to call the phone number associated with the email and it was an invalid number. I finally called Customer Service and it took them about half an hour to track the person down to say he'd be another 40 minutes very frustrating as I'd like to be here when they're doing the service but hate wasting my entire day. I had a very disappointing experience with Moxie Pest Control in Boston. The inspection I received contained inaccurate information that appeared framed in a way to create unnecessary urgency. I was told I needed services costing over $2,000, but after conducting my own research, I found those claims to be exaggerated and not supported by facts. When I decided to cancel, I was told it would cost me $400 just to prevent them from coming back into my home. That is unacceptable and feels like a predatory business practice. RUN when you hear Moxie Pest Control...to make a long story short they take advantage of the elderly, like myself. They some how got ahold of my credit card and charged $299.00 which was never authorized by myself or my Husband. They are unprofessional and pressured me into signing a contract that came with a cancellation fee that was never explained to me upon signing. TLDR: Unprofessional, unresponsive, 80% contract cancellation fee, snake oil door-to-door sales tactics. This is a large corporate business with branch locations across the country with questionable quality. Door to door salesman came thru our neighborhood. Their sales tactics were terrible, providing only 3 powerpoint slides of information (price package and pics of various pests). They did not have a business card nor any easy way to research their company, reviews or practice. Their sales tactics relies on signing people during the sales pitch before you can make an informed decision. Was not adequately informed on kids/pets/environmentally safe practices, only reciting from a script that its "safe". For example, they did not inform us how long we needed to stay off the lawn after treatment, and with 2 kids who love playing outdoors, I could not confidently let them play for weeks on my own yard. General service only included applying lawn pellets, liquid barrier around perimeter, and cleaning 2 cobwebs. No knowledge of what the pesticide which makes it difficult to know its effects on the local waterways. When I discovered a wasps nest near my entryway, the person receiving my call promised to call back and schedule a tech but I did not hear back from them after a week. I had to take care of it myself when the kids weren't home. Contacting a salesperson for information and to cancel the service lead us to learning about a 80% contract cancellation fee ripped from Adobe's TOS. (US government is currently suing adobe for predatory practices including ridiculous cancellation fees). This was never clear during the sales pitch nor while signing the contract! I paid hundreds for nothing when I could have gone to a reputable local business. read more

Very poor customer service after you sign up. They are sneaky door-to-door salesmen, who will pressure you into a contract. They will not tell you your cancellation rights. They also overpromise saying that if their treatment doesn't work they will come back out and do a no-cost follow-up treatment. They have yet to do that for me even though I've asked. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, but they have not been able to redeem themselves. I tried to call them to schedule follow-up visits because their pest treatment isn't working and they don't respond. I have tried to cancel the termite treatment, and they won't respond. Hire someone local who knows your area, will respond and is invested in a relationship. read more

This is a TERRIBLE company!! Horrible customer service. The serviced did NOTHING! I tried to cancel the service for months and was told I would have an early cancelation fee. No vehicle, walking door to door on our country road. - Most applications for ant control were completed in less than 10 minutes! -Outside bait box/trap for rodents never checked during subsequent visits. -Informed 2 days before an application they were coming out to perform their next outside ant application...have tried numerous times over the past 2 days to respond to their texts to cancel the appointment but only get a response "Sorry, something is wrong on our end, please try back later"...! -WE HAVE 5 INCHES OC SNOW ON THE GROUND AND THE TEMPERATURES HAVE BEEN BELOW ZERO...AND THEY HAVE SCHEDULED US FOR AN OUTSIDE ANT APPLICATION COSTING US $139.00!!! -The signed contract clearly states there are no refunds if cancelled so we will have them finish the 3 remaining applications hopefully at an appropriate time! -Just called the company and was on hold for 10 minutes, transferred but no one answered, finally someone comes on and says that department is pretty backed up with calls so I'll have someone call you back...after explaining the issue of snow and below zero temperatures she finally agreed to postpone the next application! Worst pest control company ever. I can't even cancel with them right now I called them up I canceled an appointment and told him I completed the terms of my contract and wanted to cancel. They told me they couldn't do it then because there was no supervisor available. And now I have account people from their hounding me over this thing they need to resolve this. My door knock from a canvassing Moxie sales rep at 8:54pm tonight was not remotely appreciated. While a perfunctory "oh are you going to bed now?" comment happened, the guy was not making any move towards leaving. I had to shut and lock the door in his face to get him to leave. reading all the negative reviews and I have had no issues other than the sneaky mice but I rent an old old house so that probably is the problem, I will say there are fewer furry things and no spiders YES. The reps that come out each time I go out and greet them and tell them and I have had not one unpleasant conversation with each rep. I wasn't bullied into the service. I signed up for the year and I wish that you could cancel without any extra fees. For when you need to move or something. Any how just wanted to say that this company servicing my area has been nothing but pleasant to work with. read more

A guy comes to my house to offer pest control services. We explain that we just need to get rid of a hornet's nest. We make sure he understands that we don't wNt any poison in our garden as we have many pointers, birds and butterflies we encourage. A couple of days later we have a "Lawn chemicals applied" sign up front. A report they sent showed that they used every known poison in cack and front. I call to cancel, have a long discussion with some person who insist that she is 'listening to me' but has no thing to say other than 'you still have to pay the contract. I hang up not committing either way. A few hours later they have charged the rest of the amount to my card. Needless to say I'll be disputing that. They have no business handling poison, nor customers. Horrible people. AVOID. read more

Awful company. They charge you monthly and text you that service was completed when you were not home. Yet when i just called customer service they said no one has been to my property since october. Also to call for the "termite inpection" they tell you ok we will let you know when someone is in that area im sorry my work schedule does not work around when you will be in the area and good company would be working around the customers schedule not the other way around. Had a door to door salesman come out in the spring and thought it was a good deal. Had the spring and several summer services completed and the final fall services completed. Then sold our home. Called to cancel the service as I no longer needed it. Again, completed all service for the year, when I called to cancel, the rep advised that I would be contacted by a management team member. Waited 4 days and finally received a call. Was told that there would be a cancellation fee of $130 because I did not wait until the next service in the spring was done. I explained that I sold the property and the rude "manager " I was speaking with asked if I wanted to transfer the service to our new address. I explained we were in an apartment complex until our new home was going to be ready and that it was not going to be ready until 2026 but if they wanted to hold it over until then, that would be fine with me. She simply said the service was canceled and that they would immediately proceed to charge me the cancellation fee. As far as actual service, they were okay. Twice I had to have them come back, out of the 4 total visits, because they missed spots, and they came right out but I still had to call to have service redone 1/2 the time. If you have someone knocking on your door in the spring, I would recommend that you issue a hard pass on Moxie Pest. read more

The worst experience ever. I felt pressured to use them when someone showed up at my door unsolicited offering preventive services. Had an initial service and mailed a check. It was returned to me as undeliverable. I called to find out why and was told to send the second check to a different address which I did. Two months have gone by. The second check was not returned but also not cashed. I keep calling and no one helps at all. They always say they will call back and don't. I have no idea what their billing process is and they keep sending me text messages to pay my bill which EVERY time I call them back and tell them the whole story (yes each time) and every time nothing is resolved. So, at first I was not sure about Moxie as I the reviews on yelp and IG and most weren't positive. I decided to give it a chance anyways and judge for myself plus the sales guy reeled me in lol I originally got the quarterly package which you have no choice but to sign up for a year and then if you want to cancel you do pay a crap load to get out of the contract. I got the mosquito package as well which is a monthly service and cancel at anytime. Anyway, the first time they came out, my fiancé was home but was in a meeting and couldn't get out there to see if they were really doing what they should be doing. They told me to wait at least two weeks to see a difference and I did notice a slight change as in less bugs but the mosquitos still were around l. I was planning on not doing the mosquito package the next month but before I could tell them no, they were due to come out as it's on an auto service unless you call. Now, they came out to do the quarterly service plus mosquito and I had the pleasure of getting Charlie and Amir. They were able to talk to Ned walk through what they were going to do and what to look out etc. I was highly pleased and grateful they were willing to answer my questions (and I had many lol). They were so nice and helpful and put me at ease with my initial "this is a scam" and I'm going to lose money. I am very pleased with the service I had today from Moxie and looking forward to working with Amir and Charlie again. If you want great service, ask for them and they will make sure you are getting what you paid for. I'm hopeful for a bug free summer or as much as I can. read more

Staff misrepresented what they can treat. Told me they can kill underground wasps. Then come out and say "not those types" I tried to cancel. They told me I owed for treatments that were never done. I recently hired Moxie Pest Control to treat a rodent infestation in my home. The technician arrived on time and was polite, but the results were disappointing. After the treatment, I still saw signs of rodent activity. I called the company back, and they sent out another technician who did another treatment. However, I still had the same problem. The "Account Care" professionals are unhelpful, they do not allow you to speak to the same person twice so you have to retell the issue multiple times. This company is a door to snake oil salesman scam looking to lock customers into a contract. I was very dissatisfied with the effectiveness of their treatments. I was told today by Latoria (an account care supervisor), "we are not here to eliminate (the rodent problem" just help you manage it. That is the most insane statement I've ever heard. She said that to me right before she hung up on me. I've had these people come to my house 4 times and every time they promise they will take care of my mouse issue. NEVER give this company your credit card number and definitely NEVER sign a contract with them, complete garbage. I would not recommend Moxie Pest Control to anyone who is looking for a reliable and effective pest control service." read more
