Salesman just came to my door at 8:11pm on a Thursday night trying to sell me pest control. Although I appreciate the salesman's hustle, it is not ok to go to people's homes when it is late, dark, and their kids were just put to bed on a school night. From reading other reviews, this seems to be normal practice for this company. Their office hours close at 6pm, but they think it's ok to bother people at their homes after 8pm. Overall my experience with them was positive. They eliminated the issue with carpenter ants and wasps we were having. We stayed customers for about 2 years. We recently stopped because of the cost and we couldn't justify the regular treatment. If you inherit a house where the previous owner wasn't taking care of pest control it's worth it. read more

Moxie is trash. They sold us a bill of goods. We signed up for termite protection with evidence of termites on their initial visit. Each year we were seeing more damage on our window sill. The techs came out each year and once told us the bugs were not termites (during a swarm). Finally a tech came out and injected a foam and since then we have had no swarms(year 4). We are in the process of selling our home and were attempting repairs of the termite damage. The damage estimates came in at 14K - 25K all termite damage. Moxie denied any liability because they determined from pictures that the termite damage was due to water damage/moisture and not 4 years of active termite infestation. They say the damp wood made it easier for the termites to eat the wood. They lead us to believe they would cover the damage by asking us to get estimates. My sister had years of good experience with their outdoor treatment to reduce insects in the house, so I signed up this year, too. I understood what I was getting into with a 1-year contract, but I figured it would be fine since they have good service and I would want treatment anyway, as I have recurring issues with ants. Then my sister allowed them to do an annual home inspection this year, and the rep told her she had a huge mouse infestation in the attic and that a mouse ran up his leg while he was inspecting. He wanted to sell her a $3k re-insulation service. She decided to get a second opinion, and the second company told her that there are no mice in the attic at all. She cancelled her quarterly service and let me know what happened. I decided to break my contract rather than ride it out a few more months because I was so upset. I had two outdoor services performed on my home, which were fine, but I had noticed that I was getting constant texts trying to upsell me on termite and mosquito service. Now I realize they were just looking for a chance to try to scam me, as well. The rep I talked to when I cancelled acted like my sister and I were just upset that insulation service is so expensive. When I explained for a second time about the lying, he didn't apologize or offer to elevate the issue - he showed absolutely no surprise, which a normal, honest business would have. He even tried to get me not to cancel early so that they could perform the last two services - just completely tone-deaf. I paid the cancellation fee, which I am fine with because I signed the contract and agreed to it. But it's very upsetting that they aren't even ashamed when you catch them out in a lie. And it's so weird to blow up successful long-term relationships with happy customers because you got greedy and thought you could trick them. What a bizarre and wicked way of doing business. For the past year I've been hounded by this company. I've blocked multiple emails and numbers and their messages stopped for a while but recently they've started up again. This might be a response to all the negative reviews they've gotten recently and they're trying to squeeze whatever little bit of money they can out of any customer they've ever forced their services on. I cancelled a visit and rather than working to reschedule with me they just sent someone randomly on a day no one was home and tried to spring the random charge onto me. Even beyond the lack of consent, the service just wasn't worth what we were paying. Haven't seen many insects around my house, but I never get to see the employee that actually comes to the house. All I get is an email stating that they are coming the next day. Although the service people that come out to the house appear to be competent, the customer service and account management are not. I called to have the inside of my house serviced, as on their previous visit I was only able to have the outside serviced. (The date THEY gave me, did not allow for me to be at home, inside with my wife and kids). When I calle, I was LECTURED by customer service on how I should try to have them completed at the same time in the future. (Now mind you, like many of us reading this review, I work a different schedule each week, so scheduling can sometimes be difficult.) But according to them, I have a warranty services available, and they will come out as I need them in addition to my quarterly service. The account manager (Lee) did not seem very empathetic to my issue. When I asked for a refund for my quarterly service ($150 processed 7 days ago) but they refused. So now I will just use them, with my warranty for any insects that are noticed, until my next quarterly service, which is when I can cancel. read more

I have had Joshua's Pest Control since 2020. I tried to cancel and was told that I could pause the service until I was ready to start. Today a technician showed up to treat my home. I told him that I was not aware of a service call because I had paused my contract. He went ahead and did the work outside. I called the customer service and talked to a manager that spoke to me in a condescending manner and said " we can not hold your contract to start whenever you are ready" He said they sent 6 emails and that i had to get the service now or cancel. I call them back 5 days after they serviced us and now we have bug problem and they tell us they cant send someone back out until 2 more weeks when it's a "bigger" issue... I am convinced they put something in the spray so that you get problems. they are so rude and unhelpful. after a year of them we told them to cancel our contract. they told me that they can't do that and it will auto renew.... This is a scam. A pushy door-to-door salesman that would not take no for an answer finally wore me down and I accepted their service. This was a mistake, I should have just shut the door in his face. He claimed the price would be $139/month but never mentioned that he had included an extra $20 treatment. One month after the first treatment, I still have issues with ants and beetles. As far as I could tell, they just sprayed water around the house. I was supposed to have the second treatment today, but the technician never showed up. Not reliable! Said they would come back 2 weeks after 1st treatment to combat ants and they never came. Scheduled an appt at 6 week mark and then canceled due to problem with field tech and rescheduled for 2-1/12 weeks out. It will be 8 weeks and I have ants all over my house. I don't open the door for strangers, much less for teens that look like theyre casing my house to plan a robbery. There was a kid on a hoverboard that ignored my big red "no solicting" stop sign on my storm door and still rang my doorbell. I talked to him through my Nest doorbell and told him we had a no solicitor sign and we weren't interested, yet he continued to talk and wouldn't leave. Josua's Pest control termite expert Joseph proved to be a fraud and a trickster. He "found" new colony of termites in my house, wanted to cut a deal right on a spot, and was very insolent. I called for Orkin inspector, he came next morning, checked everything, and said there was nothing to worry about, there is no new colony of termites anywhere near the house, or in the house. To be honest I was using Joshua's service for 2 years, and there was never a problem. read more

Ben was very thorough and did a wonderful job. He talked to me about the entire process. He was very professional and worked really hard to make sure my first service was a success. Kudos to Ben! Just to all the negative nay-sayers about the pushy salesman, just give them a try. I dont like door sales people coming to my door either, but I am really glad I listened. I was super impressed by how they took all the gnats and cobwebs off the sides of my home and listened to my pest issues and immediately they went to work. In April 2021 we had a horrible bug problem in our house. Being around farm land, it expected. Joshua's Pest Control Door to Door Techs hit up my neighbor. They are responsibly priced so I gave them a shot. I have no complaints about them. Writing this review at 12/15/22, I am no longer needed their services. I gave them a talk and told them I would no longer be needed their services. They did offer options that are more cost effective for my budget. BUYER BEWARE! A very nice sales person showed up at my door and sold me a 12 month Service Agreement on 08/07/2020. I cancelled a previous service with Fox Pest Control - not because of any issues - Joshua's was simply cheaper and I was willing to give them a try. Over the next 6-9 months or so, the service guys that showed up couldn't have cared less about their job, they seemed bored and just plopped treatments on and left. As long as the result was acceptable I tried to ignore my perceived lack of care or friendliness, maybe it was me and I expected too much from a guy trying to prevent ants from going in my house. By the way, the Fox Pest Control guy was always SUPER into it, I guess I got spoiled! Earlier this spring though I had had enough when somebody showed up after dark with an attitude trying to perform a service and called again to try and cancel - I was told I was still in my contract period so decided to wait it out. I sent a letter dated 08/15/2021 to cancel the service, after completing my 12 month period and was surprised to get a reminder today for my next quarterly service coming up on 09/25/2021. I had to call today after unsuccessfully trying to resolve the issue by email, which ended up resulting in me being slapped with an early termination fee. The email exchanges were lacking in customer service (they were a copy of my Service Agreement that I have myself, but thanks I guess + an invoice for an early termination fee). I called and spoke to a nice person who said I had to speak to the same supervisor who sent me those unhelpful emails and charged the early termination fee. Once I connected with the supervisor, he read the contract to me out loud on the phone (gee, thx again). He specifically read the part about the 12 month term, and I'm like, yup I'm past my 12 months, but then pointed me to a set of monthly boxes at the top of the contract that indicate the initial service and 4 subsequent quarterly services with the last quarterly service being in June of 2021, so sort of a "schedule". He explained that while it says 12 months in the contract, those boxes at the top in that section "Quarterly Maintenance Schedule" ACTUALLY MEAN my contract is for FIVE quarters. Even before the call I had scoured that contract racking my brain as to how I'm being charged this fee, but it literally doesn't say anywhere that it's even for any "quarters" at all but rather for a 12 month period, providing a schedule for an initial service with 4 addtl. quarterly services in a nicely organized table. I asked him how I should know it needed to be another quarter? I guess I was supposed to "imagine" another box being there for September of this year? It's not listed, it's not outlined and not clear at all, and his response was that "it's pretty clear to me" and that they've tried to make it very easy to understand so that "a not very sophisticated mind such as yours" would get it. I thanked him for the insult and he said we can listen to the recording as he did not say those words, I asked to do that and he hung up. Not before yelling at me and advising that he'll request the fee to be "refunded". The service itself (prevention of pests in the home) did what it should. If you have time and feel like having to deal with the above run around and love being insulted and lied to, go with these guys. read more

I'm embarrassed to say I did not do my research . I should have read the reviews plus followed my rule of not answering the door to solicitors! This put me me in the worst position with this company. I was in a vulnerable situation and signed the contract. I was told I could cancel at any time. After the second service, I realized there wasn't much difference in bees actually there were more flying around my security cameras than before. I did have a big ant problem and they did come an extra time to get rid of them but for the astronomical amount of money it's not worth it. It is very expensive for the little effect you get. Save your money! Go to the store and get your own supply. To break the contract was a huge hit. I pay less for my homeowners insurance! Slam that door when they show up! They should be ashamed of these ratings; 1.8 isn't anything to be proud of. Joshua only offered a $40 referral discount if I continued the service. No thank you! I happened to need a pest control service when they came to my door but I have found them to be responsive and they show up when they're supposed to. They answer the phones and always do what I ask of them. The young sales girl was very sweet when I signed up, not pushy at all. My yard is mosquito free all summer long and we've started dealing with mice now. Again, they are working with me to eliminate the issue. I'm very happy with them. read more

They train their sales people to say ANYTHING. Jake, our sales person, claimed he was the owner of their branch. When I reported this, I was told their sales people, young men on scooters, "take ownership"? No! He specifically said "I am the owner of our division". We have had issues with mice since their services. We stopped services, and now they are charging us "cancelation fees", even though this is a subscription services. Look at their BBB reviews.
