    Makeup Remover

This was an amazing place to stay! My train dropped me off super early at 6:30am and the staff was kind enough to hold my luggage. I came back to the hotel around noon and they had a room that they allowed me to check into early. The lobby area is a great hangout spot complete with a coffee bar, a full bar, free pin ball, a record player, couches, and the friendly staff of course. My room was beautifully made up, super modern and cute. They even had complimentary makeup remover in the bathroom. My room also came with a pink banjo which I thought was really cool and I did take time to try to play. Room service came in after my second night and cleaned the room and brought new towels. Moxy is a 10 minute walk from Beale street. The street Moxy is located on (Main) also has its fair share of things to do such as bars, cafes, eateries, etc. Memphis riverboat tours are an 8 minute walk away as well. The back patio was also a cute spot to sit at night. 10/10 would recommend

I would have that the moxy by Marriott was a safe bet in Memphis... nope! It was horrible from the second I pulled in. Even though they share a huge parking lot with 4 different hotels, all they offer is valet. So I pulled up at 1145pm and the only one to greet me was a security officer. I asked where the valet was and he had no idea The door to the front desk was locked so I had to wait for the valet, 15 minutes So he let me in and I had to wait another 10 minutes for the front desk attendant. The usually cool and vibey hotel was dirty and the maintenance was awful The room was not taken car of, paint was peeling and almost all of the soap and shampoo was empty.

In a safe, convenient, well-lit court of hotels. I lucked out and got good onsite parking, but there are a couple of nearby parking garages as well. I've stayed at several moxy hotels and this one is on brand. Hip, open, fun common spaces. The bar area here is a little crowded and merged with the check-in desk, but that's ok. Functions just fine. The check in staff (I think he said he name was Mac, but I could have made that up--it was late) was fantastic. Fun, energetic, dressed in sparkles. Perfect welcome I needed after a long drive. Room is standard style, and based on being functional, but I reserved a corner room, so more space. As with all Marriott hotels, streaming offered on site. My room was on the courtyard side, so quiet at night. Blackout curtains aren't great, but I travel with a sleep mask anyway. Recommended spot. Just a mile or two from all the attractions and near restaurants.

Came here for an overnight stay while in Memphis. The hotel was clean and had lots of personality in the decor. However, the hotel does not have a restaurant so you can only get food from the grab and go fridge. Also, the bar closes at 11pm which seems really early especially for a Saturday. While I was content, this is not a hotel that I would willingly choose again. I'd prefer somewhere with larger rooms and more amenities.

after you check in, you get a complimentary drink! so far so good. * the place is more modern which is cute. * free coffee in the morning. * free earplugs by the elevator. * security was always in front so that was nice.

This is a tough review to write as I have some five star feelings and some 1 star feelings. I am starting with the positive. - GREAT location - Super cool and funky vibe in common areas and rooms - CLEAN, I saw employees tirelessly cleaning and wiping down common areas Sleep quality was good, pillows amazing - MOST staff friendly, welcoming and helpful! - complimentary coffee downstairs in the AM Here are my not so positive feelings: - Room small, although space maximized 313 base fee is high. - Booked two rooms, they added 25 x 2 nights on each room for parking when we had no vehicle? I informed upon checkin there were no vehicles and it seemed slippery they would do this on BOTH rooms for an extra 100 bucks (they did pull it off, thankfully I was paying attention) - One of the staff, tall young lady with long brown hair who worked the bar... always seemed annoyed that guests wanted drinks or information and she was Sort of polite, but rude at the same time on a couple occasions. Our last night there she literally sent another employee over to do our drinks after blowing us off and walking away ... it was super weird. - free drink coupon(s) are good for the three moxy happy hour cocktails which are prefabricated so not much alcohol. We ordered the Moxy Mule the first afternoon and the same employee referenced above told us we could NOT use the coupon on that drink, but she would give us a 2 dollar discount. THEN the next day the main guy at the front desk area got our drinks and said that drink WAS included. It felt as though she was trying to pull something shady with us. - wasted peeps outside at their tables late at night who were likely not guests... they do keep doors locked to guests only though. I would probably stay here again, if the room price were a bit lower and I never had to see that one employee again.

A++ I arrived after only being open for a two days, so there were a few kinks to work out; but over all, great experience. The the minute you walk in, you know it will be a positive experience. Friendly staff, clever check-in desk, and pinball in the lobby.

    Cigar box banjo

Wow Wow Wow The service here at the Moxy was amazing. My night was filled with amazing people Going above and beyond to make my stay memorable! Terica, Morgan, and Matt ensured I had fun, and I was well taken care of. They even gave me bug spray for those Memphis Mosquitoes that just wouldn't leave me alone. My favorite employee was Bill the engineer. He helped me fix my AC unit in record time. My room was cool and relaxing, because of Bills quick support. He even went above and beyond to give me a book on how to play the cigar box banjo in my room for practice. Thank you Moxy. Be back soon!

Hip, fun venue with great rooms. Our king sized bed room was cool for our 2 night stay. A lot of abstract, eclectic decor. You'll check in at full service bar, get complimentary cocktails, great views of downtown Memphis, and the trolley car. A lot of good photo ops - from grass in the elevator to banjos in most rooms. Fun fun fun at a reasonable price. We enjoyed the outdoor seating. CoVid: automated announcements to mask up, sanitation stations, free masks and cleaning crews. Every elevator has a bucket of ear plugs... what's that about? Not sure. .

Pinball machines in the lobby.. Game night anyone? There is also a giant connect 4 game.

I have been watching them renovate this building for a while now and it is finally open. It is so cute and trendy definitely a great break from the norm and perfect place for a weekend staycation. The staff was friendly. The service was fast, and the food was delicious. They also have outdoor firepits. I will surely be back soon.

    Blood stain on curtains

Excellent customer service and location. The rooms need work. Curtains had blood stains all over them, rug was filthy, toilet seat was broken, sheets were dirty and shower was full of mold. In the reviews they discussed the elevator being broken and it is still broken. Housekeeping and guest use the same elevator. Will not return. If Courtyard had available rooms I would have switched.

I had a fantastic espresso martini and the best brussel sprouts I've ever tasted! So I was excited to come try something else. On the plus side, the bathroom was so nicely decorated. It was also very clean. I sat at the end of the bar, beside the little section of books. The bartender was nice. I ordered the Ember&Passion cocktail. Although it was pretty good, it was quite mild. Unexpected with the ingredients in it. I was surprised that the level of expected heat was not very detectable. I give it 7/10. When I came here before in the winter, the temperature was perfect and I don't remember being too bothered that they don't have cocktail napkins. But yesterday it was quite warm in the restaurant and not having these napkins wasn't good. Nobody in the restaurant had any type of napkin under any drink! I noticed that just like mine, every glass of water from every patron had a puddle of condensation under the glass. Each time I picked up my glass of water, it would drip onto my food and clothes. My two menus got so wet. I suppose they made this decision to save themselves a lot of money. As for the food: My parmesan truffle fries were excellent!! Hot, crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked in the middle. Best I've had in a long time. The Alabama white sauce on the side was just your typical sauce. It tasted just like every other Alabama white sauce that I've had so was not disappointing. But I actually ended up not using it because it was too thin and it didn't add anything to the fries. The fries were excellent enough on their own. I ordered my burger "pink" but there wasn't any pink to it, but I wasn't that bothered about it. Burger and the toppings were tasty, except for the fried green tomato. Looking closely at the picture, you can see that it was SO SMALL compared to the size of the burger. When a restaurant does that, don't they realize that it makes for a glaring disappointment?! It apparently came from near the end of the tomato, and not the middle. If you are going to offer a fried green tomato on a burger, then I feel as if you should only use the larger slices of the tomato, and save the smaller ends for maybe putting in salads. I've always been obsessed with fried green tomatoes. After having my first two bites of burger and still not reaching the tomato, I took it off to eat by itself. Sadly, it tasted terrible! I was surprised. Obviously, they didn't season the tomato or the batter. (Salt and pepper go a long way.) The burger toppings apparently made the tomato batter not only soggy, but also this strange thick texture. Like mushy and chewy at the same time. 1/10 Worst problem: FLIES!!! So many flies! When I just had my drink but no food yet, I noticed them but was not bombarded by them at that point. It wasn't until my food came. All of a sudden I was literally surrounded by them. They were everywhere! No exaggeration. I actually had to use only one hand to eat and the other hand to constantly move back and forth over my food. I eventually gave up and set the plate of some of my fries about 4 inches in front of my burger in order to hopefully draw the flies to the fries so that I could eat my burger. Unfortunately, after only four bites of my burger, when I set it down to take a drink of water, a fly landed on it within one second. Obviously, that was my last bite, and even when I was moving the plate closer to the end of the counter, two more flies landed on it. The glass of straws was inches from me. That, and the book closest to me seemed to be where they gathered to wait for their opportunity to dive bomb me. So many of them! It turned my stomach when I realized that I had been drinking from a straw with my water and I'm sure there had been flies on it before I got there. Every person that gets a straw in their drink at this restaurant has had a fly sitting on top of it. When the bartender told me about the desserts, it turned my stomach to think of just how many flies were in the kitchen. Had I known the fly situation was that bad when I first got my drink, I would have never stayed there, and I certainly would have never ordered food. I do think it is a real shame because the winter months are a totally different experience in that restaurant. But because of how horrible it was this time, I just can't ever come back.

Our server Catelyn was fantastic-positive, friendly, eager to accommodate special requests and helpful in pairing wines. We loved the creative approach of ordering flights of both wine and food! The Boursin stuffed filet, sea bass, Ribeye, Au gratin potatoes, oyster topped deviled eggs were prepared perfectly and especially memorable. We love sitting in the booth by the window on the lively main floor. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a unique, upscale dining experience in downtown Memphis!"

Alright, lets get into this…read more.. Walking in I was pleasantly surprised...Flight is in a tough location because parking isnt exactly ideal but as soon as you walk up, a hostess opens the door and welcomes you in. I didnt get photos of the restaurant but they have a really cool split floor design, we got to sit upstairs. I recommend you sit upstairs it possible because the first floor gets louder faster if that makes sense. Plenty of very attentive and friendly staff so you will need for nothing while you are there. Now for the food...we started off with the SNAKE RIVER FARMS WAGYU CARPACCIO. It was . My only critique if I had one; I wish it had a little more carpaccio. Now before I get into entree's let me explain how "Flight" works...You can order a single large entree for dinner, orrrrrrr, if you're like me and LOVE food, you can order a flight of three smaller portions of the entree's! Bring your appetite (and your platinum card). I ordered a three entree flight of Bison Ribeye, roasted duck breast and the chilean sea bass. I would rank them in that order although they were all delicious. That bison tho.... The wife ordered a three entree flight of the prime ribeye, sea scallops, and the twin lobster tails. She wasnt a huge fan of the prime ribeye, she said it was a little tough. She loved the scallops and lobster (although she will never forgive herself for dropping a huge piece of lobster on the floor). Oh and her scallops came with this gnocchi that was TO DIE FOR!!!! We finished the night off with a three dessert flight of pistachio mousse, lava cake and apple walnut cobbler. The pistachio mousse was light and refreshing on a hot summer day. She loved her apple cobbler. We werent huge fans of the lava cake. It just didnt have that nostalgic lava cake taste and texture. That and the peppermint gelato it came with was very strong on the peppermint. Im sure some would love it but it just wasnt for us. Last piece Ill mention is just the effort and attention to detail. It was our anniversary and they brought us complimentary glasses of champagne (thank you). They are very deliberate in how they move, their table settings and our server knew her restaurant like a pro. Even down to the way they stage your silverware knowing how their flight plates take up table space. Bravo, Great experience! Definitely a little too pricey to be a frequent spot, but great for special occasions!

She carried this review up to the 3 I'm giving Non-Vintage. First of all, there was a severe deficiency of seating and staff for this event. No one greeted us when we entered, we moved chairs ourselves to make an accommodating space out of the way of the performers, and at no point did a member of staff take our order outside of waiting at the bar. The line for the bar was right in the way of the performers, and many people were forced to wait 10+ minutes for a drink order because there was only one bartender working. Another staff member had offered to help, and the bartender DECLINED, forcing us to continue to wait. I did try the wings and the charcuterie, they were good. I tried the nonalcoholic hibiscus drink and the nonalcoholic summer cooler drink. The summer cooler was much better in my opinion, but both were good nonalcoholic options. I think I would like to try this place when they are not hosting an event, I'm sure it's lovely when they are staffed appropriately for the shift. However, I was sorely disappointed tonight being forced to wait nearly an hour at the bar, missing parts of the show and on my feet for just a drink.

Five stars simply aren't enough. This deserves twenty…read more My husband and I are food people. We travel extensively, we eat everywhere, and we've been fortunate enough to have some truly extraordinary dining experiences over the years. So when I say that Porch & Parlor may be one of the best overall restaurant experiences we've ever had, that is not something I say lightly. And it started before we even made it through the front door. The restaurant itself is absolutely charming from the outside -- whitewashed brick, Southern, understated and beautiful. But before either of us could even reach for the door handle, a gentleman appeared with the warmest smile and opened it for us. Such a tiny thing, perhaps, but it immediately set the tone for the entire evening: You are our guest, and we are delighted you're here. Inside, three lovely attendants greeted us at the front, all smiles and genuine Southern hospitality. We had reservations and were seated immediately in the most gorgeous, moody dining room. Elegant lighting, beautiful raised paneling, rich finishes -- classic steakhouse without feeling stuffy or predictable. As a miniature artist, I spent an embarrassing amount of time mentally figuring out how I could recreate those fabulous light fixtures in miniature. And then came Wade. For years -- and I mean years -- my husband and I have had a benchmark for exceptional service: a wonderful gentleman named Seth in Birmingham who was exceptional at what he did that we still talk about him. Well, Seth... you finally have competition. Wade is an absolute gem. Charming, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and incredibly intuitive, he possesses that rare ability to actually read a table. He listened. He remembered. He made recommendations without ever making us feel "sold." He helped my husband choose a bourbon, shared little tidbits and stories with us, picked up on our personalities and genuinely connected with us. And the timing of this meal was impeccable. We never once felt rushed, yet we never found ourselves wondering where the next course was. Nothing arrived too quickly. Nothing lingered too long. Wade was there exactly when we wanted him and somehow invisible when we didn't need him. The entire evening just moved along smooth as silk. That kind of service is an art, and Wade has it. Of course, none of that would matter if the food didn't deliver. It absolutely did. The steaks were phenomenal, the meal was incredible from beginning to end, and oddly enough, that fabulous bacon rack may be one of the things we talk about forever. It's delicious, ridiculous, memorable and exactly the sort of thing you want to order when you're out having a wonderful evening. By the end, we were far too full for dessert -- which naturally meant we ordered dessert. My husband knew exactly what he wanted. I was torn between two choices, so finally I told Wade, "Go into the kitchen, choose your favorite and surprise me. I don't even want to know what it is. I'll find out when I get back to the hotel." The man understood the assignment. He chose the cheesecake, and good heavens. It was lighter than a cloud, with these gorgeous cherries in a rich syrup whose tartness cut through the creamy cheesecake beautifully, alongside vanilla ice cream that somehow pulled the entire thing together. I opened that box back at the hotel and knew immediately that Wade had once again made exactly the right call. But what really makes Porch & Parlor remarkable is that Wade wasn't the exception. Every single person we encountered -- from the gentleman at the door, to the front desk, to everyone who touched our table -- was gracious, polished, welcoming and genuinely lovely. You can serve an extraordinary steak in a beautiful room and have a great restaurant. But when the hospitality is every bit as exceptional as the food, you create an experience. Porch & Parlor did exactly that. We were told this was considered one of the very best steakhouses in Tennessee. After dining there, I completely understand why. In fact, forget Tennessee. This is one of the best steakhouse experiences we've had anywhere. And Wade, if you happen to read this: Seth held that title for a very long time, young man. You earned this one. Five stars feels woefully inadequate. Give them twenty.
