Perfect place to grab a quick bite and a morning brew. I highly recommend coming early to snag a good parking spot and a seat by the lake. You can't beat the amazing views from the roastery. Stopped by around 8:20 AM on a Sunday and it was starting to pick up but not super busy. I ordered a latte and a breakfast taco. Both were good. The taco had a great green sauce. The latte unfortunately was more on the warm side than hot. There are plenty of pastries and treats to try if you've got a sweet tooth. One of our family's favorite spots to relax and enjoy! We don't tend to come on holidays or when there are huge crowds so we have never experienced any lines or wait times. We absolutely love it here! The coffee is so good and we usually grab a bag or two and bring them back home with us. We love to take our coffee out onto the back porch and just watch the water and boats and eat a yummy croissant and bagel! Their bfast tacos have also been a hit with the family! Parking is pretty easy as there's a parking lot next to the shop and also more across the street with a protected cross walk. Mozart's is less a coffee place as it is an outdoor concert venue/event space. Yes, they roast their own coffee and they have a bunch of coffee drinks but what brings people is their lakeside view and events. I had the Vietnamese iced coffee here and thought it was ok; not as strong or sweet than if at a Vietnamese restaurant. The empanadas were all right, definitely not noteworthy. The large patio is taken up by a stage where musicians come and play throughout the day and evening. I wouldn't visit the gift shop, which is clearly a tourist trap. My last time I went for their 'Festival of Lights' which was really just a small holiday market, the lights themselves were pretty disappointing. We came here the day after my son's graduation from UT Austin. He often came here during his 4 years of school to study, get a coffee or just to relax on the lakefront. We did not get food nor did we deal with anybody to get any kind of service so I did not rate them. Overall the place is wonderful! It's fun to watch the people out on the paddle boards and the donut boats and the breeze and the nature side of it is very enjoyable to sit around. They also had a wonderful three-piece band that played great music, no singer, which allowed us to sing along at the table! Lol My wife and my son both got coffee drinks and I got a chocolate shake which we're all very good. My favorite coffee shop in Austin, hands down! I visited the restaurant once and this place caught my eye and it was highly recommend by my friends. Mozart's Coffee Shop in Austin is an absolute delight, especially during the holiday season. The Christmas lights display is simply magical, creating a festive and cozy atmosphere that makes it feel like a winter wonderland. The café's lakeside location adds a photographic backdrop making it perfect for capturing beautiful photos. I did not get the tickets in advance so I did not get into the holiday market. So I ended up only going to the coffee shop. We ordered the Holiday hot chocolate with marshmallows, the Tiramisu Mousse Dessert, Samosas, Croissants. The lattes were light and flavorful but was hard to get the marshmallows through that container. The tiramisu was good too , rich, creamy. Samosas did not come out so had to return and get them again but ended up being worth it. Wish the service was faster but can't complain since it is always crowded, speaks for the quality. Also, parking is a nightmare, so plan your visit. This is my second visit and to more visits!! read more

This is another of Austin's most festive spots. I give 4/5 stars instead of 5/5 now, just because of how INSANELY packed and crowded this place has gotten... It used to be my and my friend's go-to holiday hang out spot like 5-10 years ago when we were all in town from undergrad, but over the years it's become so crowded that they now do advance reservations, and they fill to capacity/end up turning people away because the area outside/in the parking lot just gets filled with people standing around since there aren't enough tables. The inside area is very cute though, including with a little lower deck adjacent to the water of the lake, so you can have a coffee/drink, see the lake at night, and watch the little light show (which was actually a UT Austin Engineering graduate student's thesis project -- and it was so well-loved and festive that it has been kept up ever since!). I don't go to Mozart's much any more because of the crowding issue; the coffee is good and the light show is cute but it's similar enough each year despite some small tweaks that I don't feel the cost of dealing with crowds is worth the benefit. Nevertheless, I love that it's still around and strongly rec giving it a visit if you've never been - it's very "Austin," and very festive! read more

Met with a friend here because of the view. There's a few levels of outdoor seating and she was at the bottom. I had just checked out of my hotel after being in town for ACL weekend 2, so I had my suitcase and backpack, and asked the barista if I could leave my suitcase somewhere while I met with my friend at the bottom level (they only have stairs and my suitcase was full), I was given a reply of sure but we can't do anything if it gets stolen. At this point you just have to shrug and laugh it off. There were many food options and we met for coffee so I wasn't really hungry enough to try more than what I ordered. Local Austinite here... Mozart's is an Austin institution. I don't go all the time so I was surprised on my last trip to see a long line across the deck and up the stairs to get coffee. It felt more like Disneyland than Mozart's. I'm glad business is doing well but I'm going to mourn the chill atmosphere of being in the moment, enjoying the beauty of the area instead of what now feels like something to check off a tourists To-Do list. The days of the quiet relaxed vibe of being on Lake Austin seem to be gone. There was a band playing on the patio, which was nice but if you're sitting on the upper deck it would be hard to have a conversation. As mentioned, there was a long line to order food and drinks inside. There was a secondary line for the coffee cart... Yes, progress happens but when you want to relax by the lake with a coffee and read a book or have a conversation I guess Mozart's isn't the place to do it on the weekend. You will find yourself hunting for a table, if you have multiple people in your party, do yourself a favor and split up - one get the drinks and food while the other scopes for a table like it's Black Friday. Okay, the thing you really came to find out. Is the coffee and food good? Yes, yes it is. I had a chai latte which they don't pre-sweeten. YAY!! My friends had coffee and their snobs. Like travel with their own coffee bean snobs, they approved of the lattes. The desserts were pretty good. We had the tuxedo cake, a cookie and brownie. The tuxedo cake was pretty good. Personally, the brownie was just meh but if you like a cake style brownie, you make like this one. I prefer a fudge-style brownie with a strong chocolate flavor and slightly crunchy edges. So would I recommend Mozart's? Yes and No. it depends on the atmosphere you're looking for and if you're willing to wait 10-20 minutes to order a coffee and hunt for a table. Went to Mozarts for their Christmas lights as I do every year and I think they've been changing the way they do the ticketing system. In the past, it used to just be open and free for all which I understand as they've been growing and getting been getting more people moving here they needed to change. However, I think not having assigned tables was a challenge at the beginning because everyone came right at 7:30 so it was really hard to find parking and then there were no guarantee tables available so we had to stand for a while until we were able to find one. My peppermint hot chocolate wasn't very pepperminty at all! However, the vibes made up for it as the lights were even more amazing than I remember them from previous years. The newly renovated space, known as The Loft, is cozy and you can choose from overlooking the Colorado River (Lady Bird Lake) or move upstairs to a space that is more secluded and away from windows. We came here due to a upcoming ENT doctor visit that Shana had and she wanted a relaxing pre visit day with good coffee. She has come here once before and always meant to come back. I want to be upfront again, coffee shops like this will never be by thing, they make me feel out of place and the places always feel "pretentious" but that is all my hang up. The place is nice I admit. Shana got her coffee, kept it simple as well as a breakfast taco and we got a brownie. One huge plus for me that made it a bit better was the option for some other drinks, soda, bottled water, Not many coffee places give you options beyond coffee and tea, so when your the one non coffee drinker in your friends group it is not welcoming. Glad they had Dr. Pepper in a bottle. The breakfast taco was good per Shana thought the tortillas was that rubber like way a bad tortilla gets which in Austin seems like a major oversight, you can get pretty good tortillas at HEB. The coffee was excellent, again per Shana and the brownie was big and tasty, lots of chocolate. The patio area we sat in on a mid day weekend was cute and had lots of room. It allows dogs and has wifi. It looks over the lake and was super cute. They have a ton of merch from coffee mugs to t-shirts and cookies. So if you like to have merch from where you go they have you covered. They had one really cool Batman themed shirt but it was too big for Shana. A few things to note: The bathrooms even when we went mid day were gross. It was still crowded with a line out the door when we arrived though we came after the morning rush and before the evening crowd. It was not the most crowded place but we were surprised to see that big a crowd mid day. They have a Starbucks like assembly line which means slightly faster but not very welcoming and they just call out the food you got, no name or anything so hopefully no one ordered the same thing as you. The area you wait in is not very big either so if it got any more crowded it would be a nightmare. They workers were the kind that were not rude or unhelpful but not friendly or outgoing. The going through the motions kind. Overall a nice place, I can see why it is popular even if it is not my type of place. Give it a try, see what you think. read more

I came here for the free movie night thursdays tonight and unfortunately had to leave the movie 20 minutes before it ended due to the fact that as soon as the sun goes down it is infested with cockroaches. I was sitting at a picnic table on the dock when I noticed one, and soon after saw 5 more accompany it. This is not a small problem either as the roaches were VERY comfortable.
