While in Illinois doing my thing I picked a place for breakfast that I felt would be good but as I got to Il I had a runner up place and I changed my mind and switched to the runner up place and OMG am I so fuc#%ng glad I did that. When I pulled into the lot and saw the sign, now open and I thought dam a just opened GREEN place is what I picked. When I saw the valet parking at a breakfast place I thought was I in the wrong place, how cool is that. The place is fresh looking with a nice mix of tables/booths/counter seating, this is not your old school Greek place. The place was well staffed and my service was top notch with friendly people, clearly not as new as I first thought. As I sat there looking over the great menu I noticed massive unreal looking breakfast plates hitting the tables around me. I ordered the biscuit-n-gravy with two eggs which was a layer of biscuits topped with ham and covered in sausage gravy which is topped with two eggs. This was no joke and the oversized plate hit the table looking amazing, see my picture. OMG there was more thick cut ham off the bone under all that gravy than I have ever been served and you notice the great quality with the first bite because it was super moist and fork tender, this is some serious good ham. The eggs were perfect and the biscuits and gravy were very tasty and some of the best I have had. The biscuits were very fresh and the light and fluffy kind, not the hard dense kind which I liked. The sausage gravy was creamy with just the right amount of crumbled sausage. Wow this was one really good breakfast with top quality ingredients and I'm very impressed. Overall this place knows how to do over the top breakfast and they do it very well, better than anyone else I must say. I'm pretty much a semi-regular at Mr. A's, so this review is long overdue. Mr. A's is located in Roselle on Irving across from the Metra Station. Known for their delicious recipe baked ham (excelent), I've sampled many of the menu items; Gyros, Chicken & Waffles, Greek Omelets, Egg Skillets, Burgers, Homemade Chili, you name it. In fact, I'll give a special mention to their Split Pea w/Ham Soup. Probably the best I ever had. Upon this visit I ordered for the first time, the Mediterranean Salad. This consists of romain lettuce, chopped onions, tomatoes, crumbled feta cheese and kalamata pitted olives. Then it's topped with slices of seasoned chicken breast and served with homemade house dressing (Greek-style). It's a humongous salad so trust me, you're not going to leave hungry. The house dressing makes it a winner and perfectly seasoned chicken is a bonus. Friendly, attentive service-- always! Here's an extra bit of info... at Mr. A's they even sell whole baked hams and ham bones (for making soup) to go. This is my second time here and again outstanding experience!! Start with the service.. we walked in and Lauren greeted us, sat us and served us. She was busy when we walked in and she still provided outstanding service. As soon as we were sat we got waters, we had enough time to look at the menu Lauren even made a couple suggestions. We waited maybe 10 minutes and our food was at our table. I don't think I've ever gotten my food that fast. My compliments to the chef!! Now the food... I had the bacon Benedict and there was a lot of bacon !!! My sister in law and her fiancé shared the meat lover skillet which I didn't know they shared until the end because it was such a big portion they literally had full plates. The kids loved their Mickey Mouse pancakes . Only thing I would suggest for this restaurant from observing the customers is a heart healthy option menu. I was there for lunch on 6/9/23 with my husband. His egg skillet he said was delicious. I ordered the eggs benedict with corned beef hash. I joked to my husband that the burnt smell we were smelling was his toast. When our meal came it was my meal that was burnt! The hash brown potatoes burnt, also the corned beef was burnt black on both sides. I didnt eat the potatoes and left the burnt sides of the hash on the plate. The waiter came I told him and he said sorry. The bus boy came and asked if I was through, I said its burnt. While paying our bill the girl asked if everything was ok, I said no, mine was burnt. NOTHING. I told 3 people and no one cared, or asked if I wanted another meal or price reduction. NOTHING. What lousy customer service. Not sure I would go back. read more

My fiance was recommend this this by a coworker, so we gave it a shot. The place wasn't overly packed, and you can tell that people don't spend a lot of time sitting and eating here, which we liked. Overall the food was OK, nothing different from what we have had elsewhere. Our server could have been more attentive to our table, as we had to flag her down to get the check. After getting the check, I had to go up to the front desk to pay as we couldn't keep waiting for her to return to collect it. If you live nearby and want breakfast, this would be good but I wouldn't go out of the way to come here. read more

Date of recent visit: 4/8/18 Service in this place has gone from bad to worse. Took over 5 minutes to get coffee and another 2 for cream after we were seated. Had to get up and get a refill on my own after 17 minutes. Didn't come around for refill by staff for almost 25 minutes. Food is still fairly good, especially the ham, but terrible service this Sunday morning (that's twice in a row) makes for a bad experience. Well,,,, the food is great and proper quantity. In recent months they have, aside from their regular menu,, daily specials. Diverse, delicious and reasonably priced. Call ahead if you want to know what they specials are on a particular day. I do when im doing take out! The ham off the bone is great and pretty big in comparison to others. We had been to the previous location of this fine, ham-centric establishment years ago when we lived in Arlington Heights. Since moving to the Roselle area, though, we owed the breakfast hot spot another visit. The interior is much updated - basic but a more modern version of its prior diner incarnation. There are plenty of tables and booths, friendly servers, and clean bathrooms to boot. The menu is deep and will likely appeal to any breakfast or lunch seeking individual. Word to the wise - ham is their game. Their kind ham is the hammiest ham out there. Do not leave here without ham. That being said, I ordered the Denver skillet with a mish mash of changes, like adding in avocado, tomatoes, and easy on the cheese, and I was astounded by its size (reference the pic). It barely fit on the plate (they don't use a traditional skillet because theirs don't fit), and featured 4 (yes, 4) eggs atop crispy hash browns, a plenthora of ham, green peppers, my added tomatoes and avocado, and a bit of cheese. It was filling and tasty and I had leftovers for myself AND my two daughters the next morning. My magnanimous skillet rang in around $10. Oh, and it came with a side of pancakes. Because, why not. FEAST! The skillet was MASSIVE: a huge mound of potatoes, sausage, bacon, mushrooms, cheese, and four eggs. Four! My only complaint is that there aren't many veggies in it (I mean the non-starchy variety!).. next time I'd ask to add in spinach or bell peppers. I only finished half of it before I devoured my (also huge!) pancakes. They were hearty and dense! Service was friendly (Kim took care of me). Plates were cleared quickly and I was offered a box for my leftovers. The ambience is nice: spacious open diner with cute green mugs. A nice place for breakfast, great tasting food and great value. They also serve lunch foods but I haven't had any. Cajun Skillet - spicy sausage in a skillet. You get 4 eggs your way. They use "american fries" which is almost like potato slices but the size of home fries so you get crispy slices of potato mixed with fluffy ones. It was excellent. I did say I would never return to this place again. Months later I just happened to be walking by from another store, and decided to feel it out again. I didn't see the person who I had the bad experiences with. The energy was good in the place. Seemed to be the same regulars in the morning. The waitress was lovely. But was greeting all her regular gentleman customers with such Glee. Glee I have never been on the receiving end of. I got my order and proceeded to leave. However I went back specifically to ask for the kind waitresses name... So that I made sure to mention her, and what a great job she was doing! She actually made my day better. Her personality and customer service is how a waitress should treat all customers. I am so happy LAUREN didn't use this Christy person as an example. I'm just glad I got to confirm who the person was- because someone had previously asked me per my last review. She actually knew the name before I went back up there and was able to confirm. I wasn't even expecting to see this person. But it was meant for me to get her name and put it on Yelp... so she knows people will comment on her crappy attitude and service. First Time Customers. Went with wifey and mom-in-law after church this past Sunday. As one who really does an analysis on restaurants, you start to see a "pattern". Mom-in-law took it and said it was fantastic. Our server Laura, said she would bring me another soup of my choice to have as a re-placement. I had some of my wife's Chicken soup instead, and REALLY wished I had taken Laura up on her offer. 2. I had the Spicy Beef Panini. Fantastic! Took home the other half for lunch today.
