Well... what an unexpected GEM! I was craving some sautéed string beans, and just happen to give this a chance order for delivery. I have to say this meal was mighty tasty! I prefer to go in person for restaurants like this, but it wasn't bad for delivery. The order came very quickly. The packaging was lovely, I do wish it came with the soup spoon for the soup dumplings, but thankfully, I had one in house. Some of the dumplings were filled with very little soup, but I've had that happen quite often with chicken soup dumplings. The fat to meat ratio before steaming can sometimes be very little, leaving them empty after steaming. But still delicious nonetheless! The highlights for me were the sweet soy noodles and the green beans. Both very simple dishes, but are usually not that great of a delivery option. It is very hard to find chow mein noodles pan fried and not flash fried in the city, and it's one of my favorite dishes. When you order chow-mein, from an American style Chinese restaurant, it's usually fried noodles covered in some meat and vegetable sauce. But I was an absolute heaven when I tasted these Cantonese style noodles. It reminded me of some of my favorite restaurants when I moved to New York many moons ago! I will most definitely be ordering that again. The green beans were tender and saucy, but I would've loved for them to have a little more salt and I wished that they had the cornstarch slurry that gives them a little crunch. However, they were well cooked and I would order them again. I'm so glad I took a risk and tried somewhere new. This will be one of my new favorites for quite a while! read more

Unfortunately gone, and replaced with some awful, overpriced dump. Bedford Ave truly lost one of the greats with Mr. Bao's departure. "Gyoza shop" or whatever the f*** they call it is awful. Overpriced deep fried slop for douchebags who pay too much to live in one of the most expensive parts of the city. I will give this business 5-6 months of operation before giving way to another business with no substance and steep prices. They also have no liquor license or happy-hour specials, which was a HUGE draw for Mr. Bao. I wish this business nothing but the worst. We saw the good ratings for Mr Bao and headed over here but were heavily disappointed. The service itself was good and the plastic cutlery didn't really bother us. However, the food itself left a lot to be desired. Char Siu Steamed Buns: 7/10 filling was great but not a lot of it in each bun Pork Belly Baos: 4/10 the pork was very well cooked but the baos and meat had no actual flavor Spicy wontons: 8/10 they were good but not amazing Galbi Pancake Wrap: 1/10 I didn't even eat this, the beef was so chewy and overcooked and the wrap itself had a weird flavor. I was in the neighborhood and looking to pick up dinner to take home to my mom. This cuisine is definitely up her alley so I gave it a shot. I got an order of shrimp dumplings, roast pork bun, 48 hour galbi beef and sesame balls. The dumplings and roast pork buns were good, pretty much standard and the beef was delicious but the side that I chose for her was listed on the menu as garlic cucumber salad. That, she said, had her mouth on fire. There was no mention of it being spicy and when I tried it later, it was hot to me and I rarely find things spicy. They really need to clarify this as it caused her to not enjoy the meal. Even with that incident I gave it four stars because the food was good and so are the portions in price. This is the best authentic Chinese / Taiwanese take-out ish type place in Brooklyn. Without going to Flushing you can't do better. It's a bit oily but the spice is spot on. It's 99% better than any old school takeout. Prices are reasonable too. What sets it apart from the other more authentic flavor places in Sunset Park or Chinatown is it's approachability for westerners and particularly vegetarians. They use compostable dishes too. The only negative thing is they have a history of low health grades - their sibling establishment in Park Slope still has a C and the one in the East Village is mysteriously entirely missing a sign and cannot be found in the Health Grades database. I dunno what's up but the one on Bedford now has an A. Kudos to the team, because health should come first. I would hate to have give up these dumplings noodles and tofu! read more

I couldn't stop my chopsticks from twirling and swirling. Mr, Bao, aside from buns, offers hand made dumplings, pan fried chicken, pork and chives, different options for fried chicken wings and soup dumplings. The atmosphere is quiet but the music spinning had me dancing and twirling at the same time. The service is friendly and courteous. I've recently ordered twice from here since my initial purchase and I think they definitely improved. I haven't ordered everything I had previously yet, but so far so good. I really like the spicy dumplings but be warned they pack a worthy punch. I dont live close anymore so I'm trying them out when I have the chance and am hankering for quick bites. For vegetarians, this place has nothing to offer. There are a couple of vegetarian dishes, but they are not clearly labeled - at least, not all of them. We ordered the mushroom buns because they were labeled vegetarian, and they were cute and tasty - but they were still frozen in the center, which kind of spoiled the illusion of their being handmade. I've ordered from Mr. Bao several times, very solid spot! I really enjoy the soup dumplings, they arrive hot and intact. They have great flavor too. I I've tried and enjoyed the pan fried pirk dumplings too, nice and crispy on the bottom. Their Char Shao Bao is great as well, pillowy soft and comes it a nifty container for transport so they aren't squished and don't stick together. Only thing I didn't care for was their fried rice. Service was friendly and relatively rapid. We ordered the duck bao, chicken and cabbage dumplings, Beijing street noodle and stir fried string beans. We were so hungry that I didn't get pics of it all. I loved the dumplings and string beans. The string beans work perfectly cooked not to constantly trying to treat not too crazy. I didn't love the noodles because I felt the pork to noodle ratio was way off. It's probably based on a street food that was largely noodle with only a spoonful of pork. It felt plain so we asked for some plum sauce and that helped. The duck bao were delicious but tiny. Al In all still a deal at $22 per person for 1 entree and 3 apps.
