For dessert, we got a scoop of the ube and green tea ice creams and both were so refreshing and not too sweet. The green tea was my favorite but the ube was also incredible. Came here a few days ago with no reservation and they were pretty packed but got sat right away. The service was 10/10. Everyone I talked to was sweet and attentive. The fashionista with the long braids that greeted us at the door was funny and nice. The server we had- don't remember her name but she has short curly blonde hair- was also nice and we never found ourselves waiting for her. She was on top of it. The food came out lickity split! And o.m.g. everything we ordered was delicious. I definitely recommend the spicy chicken and the string beans! Soooo much garlic on them beans and I was in heaven. We placed a late-night delivery order and even paid a slight fee for the extra distance. We ordered: - shrimp fried rice - beef lo mein - spring rolls - wontons with peanut sauce - sesame chicken The original delivery time of 50-70mins was extended beyond half an hour. Then changed twice again after that. The lo mein and fried rice had ZERO flavor. I was praying for some soy sauce packets, but none were included and our apt didn't have any. The spring rolls were mid at best. My friends liked the sauce on the wontons (at least it had flavor), but the wontons were nothing special. The sesame chicken DID TASTE LIKE SOMETHING but it wasn't what I traditionally think of when I eat it. At least I could mix a bite of that in with everything else to make it less bland. At the same time, the helpful translation of "small plates" into "xiaochi"tells you that the nostalgia is self-aware. I had the General Tso's tofu, because what else would I order at such an establishment. The sauce was excellent, although the tofu consisted of small chewy pieces. My best friend and I decided to have a lil city date, so we found this restaurant on Yelp and it just spoke to us. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This restaurant is pretty tiny but the vibes are elite. We were seated pretty quick and basically asked the bar tender to tell us his favorites and that's what we ordered. The steamed bbq pork buns were good but definitely needed way more filling. The real show stoppers were the sautéed green beans with garlic and the spicy peanut wontons. I literally wanted to hop into the kitchen to see how they made it so I could remake it at home because it was just that delicious. The crispy duck was also super good and I loved that they gave tortillas with it to make lil burritos. Came to Wei per a friend's recommendation and I was certainly not disappointed. The best Chinese food I've had in a while! First of all, this place has an amazing ambiance. Cute decor and great playlist -- definitely a good spot for date night. Service was fab too. Both were incredible, but I'd say the spicy peanut wontons are definitely a must. The soup was way bigger than we were expecting! We got the sesame chicken and beef lo mein for our main entrees. Came here last night, server was very short with us and kinda rude, then served us hot and sour soup with chicken in it even though we ordered all our meals vegan. After eating half the bowl we noticed chicken in the soup and said something to her. Her response was just "oh, did I bring out the wrong one? Let me get a new one". Didn't comp the soup, didn't offer an apology, didn't check in after that. Can we say delicious choices of soup dumplings, spicy wonton, chicken mein, pork belly fried rice, pickled cabbage and fried shrimp. I can say that everything was made perfectly and had a good fusion Chinese flavor. If you are looking for super traditional Chinese, this place may not be for you. But if you want to spice up ur life, here you go. Great place to grab some affordable Chinese food with lots of vegetarian options! I would definitely recommend getting the garlic green beans (SOOOO GOOD) and the spicy peanut wontons. The wontons definitely are more peanut than chili oil so if you don't like peanut butter I wouldn't get this. The veggie dumplings were also really good but just normal steamed veggie dumplings. What started as a craving for dumplings turned into a night of delicious eats at Wei Williamsburg. We went on a packed Saturday night and waited over an hour, but our patience was rewarded. The service was top-notch once we were seated, and the food came out quickly. I can't emphasize enough how great the dumplings are, but everything we tried was absolutely delicious. The bar has a great vibe. The dim lighting and candles on the tables create a perfect date night atmosphere. Some of the tables are close together, but it's New York City, so that's expected. The menu offers a wide variety of authentic Chinese dishes, with a good selection of vegetarian options as well as meat based. I started off with the scallion pancake, crispy and but soft... perfectly cooked and had a great texture with a nice contrast from the dipping sauce. For my main course, I ordered the Eggplant with garlic sauce, and it was delicious. Cooked to perfection and the sauce was sooo flavorful, a perfect balance of textures and flavors. Wei has a Full bar with lots of options and bartenders who are very skilled and knowledgeable. I received a perfect martini cocktail to complement my meal and they have a range of Gin to choose from like Dorothy Parker, Brooklyn...etc. The vibe is intimate but casual, with a mix of indoor and outdoor seating depending on the time of year you come. Round booth seating and tables as well as seats at the bar. The service at Wei was also top-notch. Our waiter was attentive and friendly, and he made sure that we had everything we needed. Have never been so disappointed at a restaurant before Ive never written a yelp review before but feel the need to express what I experienced tonight. We didn't come in with high expectations because we were just looking for sustenance. Ordered a total of 4 dishes: bbq pork buns, plain scallion pancake, fried chicken dumplings, and ma pao tofu. Scallion pancake and fried dumplings came out and it was room temperature, not even within 5 mins of ordering. Anyone who tries it can tell they both came straight from the freezer. The food had almost no flavor, only way we were able to consume it was by drenching it soy sauce and hot chili oil. Even then, it couldn't mask the lack in flavor. Next, the pork buns came out and there was practically no pork filling in the buns. Other reviews have pictures of the inside, I can find better pork buns at the Chinese supermarket and steam it myself than this place. Lastly, ma pao tofu is not a dish that you can easily mess up yet. Granted it was the only dish that had any sort of flavor, it was the wrong flavor, and tasted nothing like the dish. Additionally it was cooked with hard tofu instead of soft tofu, completely missing the point of the dish. This place is a half ass attempt of money grab by selling "Chinese food" yet the dishes are barely edible I wouldn't even take it for free. The only decent thing about this place is the interior where they hang like 20 Chinese lanterns and put on dim lighting, probably to hide the shitty the food looks in real lighting. Anyone who gave this place higher than a maybe 2 star had absolutely no experience with real Chinese cuisine and put shame to other Chinese restaurant that does it better for cheaper. read more

I found myself hungry at midnight after a LONG day of walking. I consider myself a lucky coming across Wei's. The ambiance, service and food were all STELLAR. Our waiter was very helpful and recommended the hongshao fish which ended up being our absolute favorite. The fish was cooked perfectly, it melted in my mouth and the sauce was delicious too.
