Well Date of Visit : February 22 , 2021 and after an nice walk around Santee Lakes I was feeling a bit hungry !! So I Decided on looking at some reviews on Yelp and guess what this Restaurant came up and I looked at the pictures and boy oh boy it looked so good !! So I could not pass it up !! And off I went !! As I drove up it was kind of hard because it is located inside this small shopping center and I had to look twice before I found it !! But as I drove up it was not to busy and I decided on ordering the Carney Asada Mini Tacos which is 2.50 each and the Birria Tacos which were also 2.50 each but as I took my first bite boy was it good !! Bursting with flavor and each taco was delicious !! It's one restaurant I would say is pretty darn good !! The service is good and as for Protocol they were following all guidelines and were pretty quick as I did not have to wait to long for my order !! I say put this on your bucket list and give it an try !! You will not be disappointed !! I am showing my support during these tuff times and this Restaurant is pretty darn good !! Finally had a chance to eat here with my daughter. I was a bit surprised to see the girl at the front eating at the register. A few times she had to pull up her mask to take my order. The overall taste is pretty good. I had the Birria ramen which was a perfect amount. I was really excited to try the bone marrow, when I received it there was not even a spoonful of marrow. I have never had birria before, soni can't compare. Mr. birria had had a cult following on Facebook, so we tried them out. We got the combo plate. The food is a mess for to go style food, would be much easier as a sit down food. However you get a lot of food for the price. My favorite was the consume that came with the combo. I ended up dipping the food in it, which enhanced the flavor. I had some much consume lefter over I saved it to use a a ramen enhancer. We will be back if all else just to buy some of the consume to use when cooking. The food itself is very fatty, which I am not a fan of, but that might be par for the course of birria. read more

I tried the chips & guacamole and the quesa tacos and enjoyed everything. The food was great but the service could have been better. I came here around 2pm on a weekend and it was pretty busy. After I placed my order, I was told to wait outside and that they would call out my name once my order was ready. I was told that it would take around 20 minutes, but I ended up waiting for 50 minutes. I also did not like how no one stepped outside to call out my name. Since there were tons of people dining outside, it was pretty loud and hard to hear the person calling out names from inside the restaurant. This is some damn good birria. The only reason for not 5 stars is that the tortillas come quite dripping with grease, making them a bit soggy and taking away from the toasty slightly crispy texture that would make it perfect. But otherwise, the birria itself has awesome flavor. Would also recommend giving the bone marrow a try as well, melt in your mouth deliciousness. My second visit here and I was kind of disappointed. Went here for the first time a couple weeks ago and loved it. So of course I bragged to my family and we decided to do a huge family dinner. Quite a bit of the tortillas were really over cooked which made them chewy. And basically good thing each taco came with two tortillas because one of them was inedible. It wasn't just crispy even if you tried to dip into he consume. The carne asada burrito was pretty over priced at 13.00 and just okay. Ordered 4 orders of churros which was probably my favorite part. And will probably try them with the ice cream I will probably come back but not with a large order. And at a busy time. I hope they continue to be quality! Ooohhh, birria. I do love you. Now, I will not pretend to be a birria expert. I was introduced to it 20some years ago at Ranch Market in El Cajon, and was hooked. (All their guisados were amazing.) But I've not been to the slowly growing list of establishments serving it in San Diego. (I guess it has been a staple in LA for quite a while.) And only a couple of places serve it in east county. Enter Mr. birria, opened in Santee few weeks ago. The birria (beef only, no goat) is made from fresh angus every morning. The tender, flavorful meat melts in your mouth. It's just the right amount of juice when served (think Goldilocks - not too soupy and not soupy enough, just right). Freshly-made corn tortillas (a bit bigger than street tacos) provide the perfect bed. Quesa version also available. And then the carne asada, also high-quality angus. So tender. I get the cheese quesadilla on the kids' menu (which is actually full size) and dip it in the remaining luscious consommé. I haven't tried the bone marrow yet, but will next time. I wasn't impressed with the rice (bland) and beans (hard). Maybe they will improve. Highly recommend trying it out. read more

My little one had a quesadilla and she thought it was okay My oldest has the Ramen birria and she said it was good but the Ramen/Birria ratio was off....
