Mr. Broast - Lombard I had high hopes walking into Mr. Broast, especially since it's halal and known for its comfort food vibe--but after spending close to $40, I left more disappointed than full. We ordered two chicken sandwiches and a mini slider, and honestly, none of it lived up to the price. The mini slider? Dry, shredded, and had that overly processed cheese taste--like a last-minute cafeteria lunch. The sandwiches were slightly better, but still nothing to write home about. For a place that markets freshness and flavor, everything felt like it had been sitting too long or rushed through prep. The dine-in space was semi-clean at best. There were trays of untouched wings sitting out on tables (not being served, just sitting there), which gave off a weird vibe. And the bathroom--no ventilation, lingering smells, dim lighting--definitely not the kind of place that makes you feel confident after eating. The only real plus? The staff was polite and respectful, which I appreciated. But the overall experience just didn't match the price or the hype. For $40, there are much better halal options in the area where you'll get more flavor, better service, and a cleaner setting. If you're craving halal comfort food, you might want to keep this one as a last resort or a very specific craving fix--not a go-to.

I used to be a Mr. Broast fan and have visited their Aurora location numerous times until their quality of food diminished. I was in the area for Chi Tea but they were packed so my wife and I thought we will try Mr Broast since it's been such a long time, hoping that they have improved their food quality. I'm sorry to say that their food quality is still very poor. I ordered a zinger and the chicken piece was huge and tasted like plastic. The same taste I remember from the other location years ago. I ate a few of the fries that came with it and a few bites of the sandwich and had to throw the rest in the trash. I'm glad I did because the lil I ate gave me an upset stomach. Not sure what would have happened if I ate the entire thing. Needless to say I will not be coming back and I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

The drive thru is sketch. It sounds like a tin can. There's one window, you pay and then pull into a spot to wait for your food. But then you get it. And it's glorious, greasy perfection. Popeyes can suck it.

However, halal burgers are very reasonable in pricing and they're very juicy. They're a little less than those American gourmet burgers ($15-17). There is parking in the back as well as some on the left side. This is not a fancy looking place, it's more of a hole in the wall. Lower your expectations because you're here for the food, nothing else. The staff was nice and helpful. I ordered a mango lassi, gladiator burger, and cowboy (with an extra patty). The mango lassi was good. The burgers were huge so I got my money's worth. I ordered mine medium rare. -gladiator 5 - it had double patties, halal turkey bacon, eggs, coleslaw, etc. It was perfect and very palatable. I really liked that CEO sauce. -cowboy 3.5 - it has a lot of similar ingredients as the gladiator except it has onion rings, no eggs or coleslaw, and bbq sauce. For some reason, the patties taste different from the gladiator, it was kind of bland. Everything else tasted fine.

Also the fried gnocchi bites, which were completely soft on the outside so no crunchy "fried" aspect and tasted like cheese more than gnocchi. And lastly, the elote dip... this was not like any elote I've ever had. A mix of veggies in a creamy (wet) mayo based sauce. It wasn't too bad except the avocados were hard as a rock. Totally inedible. The kitchen remade the dip for us, but they were still pretty hard- just cut into smaller pieces. The tortilla chips served with it were stale, too. I love visiting this area and was excited to try someplace new. Sadly the best thing I can say is that the place has lots of screens to watch the game. I won't be back.

We stopped in for dinner and several things went awry as soon as our food started to arrive. When my side salad arrived it came with Ranch dressing. Well, it was supposed to, but what came didn't look like Ranch, smell like Ranch, or taste like Ranch. I asked the food delivery guy for more, thinking he may have grabbed something else on accident, and he brought more of same. Bummer. Ate my salad sans dressing. Then the Kids pasta arrived, along with a side of carrots. And we waited. And waited. Then the Philly Egg Rolls arrived and the Baked Potato. And I waited. And waited. Finally my "meat loaf" arrived. Only it didn't look like meat loaf. I waited some more for the waitress to return only she never did. I had to get up and walk over to the bar, where she seemed to be busy inventorying liquor bottles, to ask her to look at the food to confirm it was the meat loaf. She immediately confirmed, then paused, then said "Um... no... that... let me check." and took my plate away. Some minutes later I finally received the meat loaf I ordered (which was tasty!, just that everyone else was done eating my this time). While I'm not sure what caused the Ranch to turn, the food to take so long and be delivered piece-meal (when it was NOT crowded AT ALL), and the confusion around the meat loaf (which was one of their "most ordered" items, so we were told when asking about some favorite dishes), I can say that our waitress was very friendly the entire time and apologized for the mess up. Given all of this, and the fact that I think the prices are inflated given the portion sizes, I don't know that we'll be back again.
