I ordered the Tandoori chicken platter using uber eats, which came with basmati rice and salad. The chicken was tender & flavorful. It was delicious! It had a bit of a kick of spice, which was perfect. If you're sensitive to spicy foods, I'd double check to see if they can perhaps make the dish with mild sauce. Other than that, I recommend trying this platter. Another great option if you don't want anything spicy is the Peri Peri platter! It's similar to to the chicken platter mentioned above minus the spicy Tandoori sauce. read more

I have heard a lot about Mr. Broast, so I went in with high expectations. I am happy to announce that all of expectations were met. I had the Philly cheesesteak, after ordering on the phone and just picking up. I liked the bread a lot, but the filling was just way too spicy for me. I eat spices, but my tolerance level is not too high, so I can't blame them. The meat was not in big chunks, like I imagined it would be, and the bell peppers were cut into very small pieces. I know another reviewer said that there was no cheese on their sandwich, but that wasn't the case for me. I also like the zinger burger. With a soft bun and crispy, crunchy, juicy, chicken, I actually prefer this menu item over the Philly cheesesteak. I ordered it spicy, and it was just enough spice. Not overly done, but a nice level of heat. The only thing I didn't like was I didn't know that it was going to have mayonnaise on it, and I don't like mayo. Other than that, absolutely delicious. I went with all of my fellow yelpers and got an extra side order of fries. Definitely a good choice, the fries are amazingly good. Crispy and the perfect amount of seasoning. I saw this spot on a YouTube video showcasing the food they serve. I drive passed it everyday and I decided to try it one day late after work. I ordered the zinger sandwich and the price was listed clear as day in front of me. But the guy tells me over $10 as my total and I only ordered the sandwich, not a meal. He said the price went up even though on the menu right in front of me the price was listed as $7.99. Terrible customer service, unprofessional staff and business practices. I did not pay for the sandwich and left this obnoxious place and have not given a second thought to trying their food. read more

This place use to be a 4 star for me, but recently the quality of the food has gone down. Specifically in the zinger chicken sandwich which use to be my favorite. The chicken breast use to be very thick and juicy. There now become very thin and dry. Disappointing to say the least. Actually, the food is pretty good, however, I bought food for 3 adult and two kids and my bill was $106 dollars. Come on... even though there were 9 guys working in there, I waited every bit of 20 minutes for the food and no one else was even in the place. I think what they offer is pretty good. Customer service is non-existant and quality is sometimes good to terrible; so it averages to just okay. If you ever find yourself here the chicken thighs and zinger burger are good options. I had the misfortune of getting a whole peri-peri chicken which took over 40 minutes to catch a chicken and the result was a sub-par boiled bird with zero flavour. One of the blandest per-peri ever. A waste of money and after that I swore this place off after a few mishaps. A lot of people love it so not sure if my expereinces have been bad. Better options do exist. read more

Ordered food for my boyfriend and I through Uber eats last week. When the order arrived, after I rushed to confirm everything was ok, we realized we received somebody else's order (not at all the restaurants fault) Needless to say, we were so upset and just wanted our original order. Without being able to contact the driver I called the restaurant to see if there was anything they could do on there end. With little to no hesitation (and knowing it wasn't they're fault) the gentleman sent one of there guys with the correct order. No extra charge. Ordered Peri Peri chicken for lunch online. I paid $14.29 with tax and the first thing I see when I arrive is the lunch special of my same meal for under $10. Not sure why they don't have that special online. Not a good start. I got past that, but then I tried the food. My salad was brown and wilted. Plus it wasn't anything besides lettuce. I've always been a fan of broasted chicken -- there's something about that pressure-fried process that yields delicious, crispy, juicy chicken that's hard to resist. I'd passed Mr Halal many times driving down Roosevelt, but it wasn't until we visited the Dairy Queen two doors down that it caught our eye and we thought, hey, let's give it a try. I came in around 6:45 on a Tuesday and the place was empty, although it doesn't seem like an eat-in kinda place -- maybe for a quick lunch. There are two longish tables that seat maybe 20 people total. Don't be thrown off by the Halal part -- Lombard and Villa Park have a lot of Muslim families but this is more or less American food, simply prepared to Halal standards, which is essentially the same as kosher -- just blessed by a different religious authority. The chickens are humanely raised, fed a vegetarian diet and humanely killed. Everything is fresh. I ordered the 8-piece family meal which comes with a whole chicken (2 breasts, 2 wings, 2 thighs, 2 drumsticks), 4 biscuits and a large side (I went with fries). I was told it would be 15 minutes and sat and chilled out. I heard the guy prepping food in the back and then he came out with a tray of freshly-floured chicken and placed it in the broaster, which is basically this giant pressure cooker. It smelled delicious, immediately. Sure enough, 15 minutes later I had a box of piping hot chicken, a large takeout container of fries, and a container of biscuits, which was neatly bagged up for me. All of this is to say it was DELICIOUS. Crispy, great seasoning (a little kick of spice), extremely juicy and tender meat. I devoured mine in no time. The fries had a slightly spicy kick to them as well which I added to by dunking them in hot sauce (which tasted basically like Frank's). The biscuits were buttery and flaky too. In short: forget that fast-food place across the street. Please support Mr Halal. I want it to stick around so I can come back for much more juicy crispy fried deliciousness. read more

I order the 10 piece barbecue wings. The wings and the sauce taste great, but when I look inside 2 wings don't have any chicken on them. 4 other pieces have very little chicken on them. Stopped in for lunch today. Lately, I've been reading about a spicy sauce from Portugal called Piri Piri (or Peri Peri). It's made from tiny, blisteringly hot bird's eye chilis and various savory herbs and spices. Piri Piri seasoning is also the engine that drives Nando's Chicken in Great Britain, an incredibly popular fast-casual chain. It's no secret that I like it spicy, so I immediately chose the Peri Peri Chicken Sandwich (lunch special with fries and drink, $6). Since this place is known for their broasted chicken, I was sort of expecting a fried chicken breast topped with sauce. Instead, I got a delicious grilled chicken breast which appeared to be covered in Peri Peri and then dropped on the grill. It was topped with lettuce, tomato and mayo (which cut the burn a bit). This sandwich may be a bit much for the spice-averse, but chiliheads out there will find it flavorful and satisfying. Service was very friendly. The food took 10-15 minutes to hit the table, but that's a tradeoff I'll take every day of the week for a freshly made sandwich of this quality. Next time I think I'll try their popular Zinger Burger (another chicken sandwich). If you're anywhere near Roosevelt Rd. in Lombard at lunchtime, it's worth a stop. read more

When I am in the mood for a fried chicken sandwich this is the place I always went to while living in Chicago. The $6 lunch special is unbeatable. Trust me, get the zinger burger which is a enormous piece of fresh white meat fried chicken sandwiches between a sesame bun. Make sure to get this thing spicey. The burger comes with coleslaw on top only the meat which adds flavor and moistness. The burger comes served with fried which are above average. Make sure to grab a shocker and add some additional seasoning that's on the table. The meal also comes with a can of soda or water. My only suggestion would be for them to clean the ketchup/hot sauce bottles more frequently. So when I found out il be visiting Chicago, I quickly started looking for halal places and those which other people recommended. For some crazy reason, I go to a place that features some fairly non-pedestrian options and I order the cheeseburger. It was prepared quickly and perfectly. I did have their home made, spicey sauce on the burger and it was pretty tasty. The place wasn't all that comfortable but it was very clean. Please, for the sake of all that is good, try the menu choices here that aren't at every burger joint just down the road. I'm not sure what I was thinking. Because of the lack of comfortable seating I'd probably go for takeout when I'm out this way again. Chicken here was great, as usual. But, I had to review the bubble tea. We are very particular about our bubble tea- it has to be tasty, and the tapioca has to be soft, chewy, and flavorful. I hesitantly tried the drinks here (because this is a chicken joint), but wow- I was pleasantly surprised! These were some Of the best bubble teas I've had in the Chicago area. They got the tiger sugar tea down, and the taro and pina colada were excellent, too. We did try another place a few days ago that is basically the same concept and is down the street, but hands down- this bubble tea is exceptionally better. The fries were kinda soggy, probably because it was delivery. The burger could've been a tad bit juicier. And the bubble tea could've been less icy and used more substance (fruit).
