Turkey/bacon sub 2xs no bacon but charged for it. The last sub was missing a reasonable about of meat. The women who prepared it was mad and said there was 2 oz. on the sandwich!!! I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a roast beef aficionado; nor do I go out of my way for a roast beef sandwich...unless it's really good. I visited Mr. B's several years ago and remember enjoying it. Yesterday, I was rather surprised that a meal of a roast beef supreme, tater tots and a soda was $18. The "supreme" is the addition of lettuce, tomato and onion. I found the sandwich to be just OK. I liked the tater tots - they were not salted which was nice to be able to taste the potato (and add salt if you want). Through pure dumb luck, I arrived when Mr B was giving away a free lunch in honor of his 50th anniversary. I had a small drink, tots and a small Mixed Giant sub; all were A-OK but I have to add a star for the generosity and the obvious bond with the regular customers who were stopping by. But, where's the Beef? I paid for this one, a beef sandwich on a kaiser roll with cheddar spread/squirt. I am finally ready to say (after trying to get excited about Beef on Weck out west and experimenting with other NEBA relics), that I find this a boring concept. The bun is soft, the thin sliced beef is tender, but where's the taste? Condiments and doctoring are needed. At Phillipe's in downtown LA, I found that a generous amount of extremely spicy Coleman's mustard on their French dip did the trick. Went today with the whole family. Roast Beef Deluxe sandwich was excellent. My wife got a Salami sub which she said was good. And the kids enjoyed the chicken tenders and tots. But the best part was that the staff were very friendly and even gave my small children toys as soon as we walked in, which kept them entertained. The dining area was very clean, which we definitely pay attention to given how often the kids end up crawling on the ground. I would definitely recommend it over the other fast food places in the area. For those people who complain about the prices compared to years ago, inflation is a fact of life these days. read more

Number of times I've been to Queensbury: 2 Number of visits I've made to Mr. B's Best: 2 I cannot be in Queensbury and not go to Mr. B's. The first time I went was after eating five apple cider donuts and I was just dying for something savory. One of my friends who grew up in the area pointed us in the direction of Mr. B's. It was love at first sight. The architecture. The sign. The neon. The tables. The condiment pumps. The tray liners. And of course the food. If you've ever wondered why a disgusting thing like Arby's even exists, it's because places like Mr. B's Best came first. Warm roast beef sandwich shops are a brilliant and under appreciated part of the fast food landscape. I have no idea how many used to exist, but now that I've clued into the form, I'm making a point to stop in as many as I can find. Real hot roasted beef, cooked to a gorgeous pink, sliced thin, and piled onto a grilled roll. I don't need the tater tots. And I don't need two sandwiches either. But next time I may have to get a second one. Maybe that will help to quell my desire. My biggest problem is that every visit I make here just leaves me wanting to return for more. read more

I love roast beef sandwiches and this place has been on my bucket list for several years. I was finally up in the area for mini golf and had the chance to stop by for dinner on a Saturday evening. They were pretty busy. For a place that recently celebrated 50 years in existance, I can see what they are doing right. The meat comes out in nice portions and is still pink in the center (not brown like Arbys). It looks fresh. Their tator tots (or whatever they call them) are cooked well done... which I love... and they give you a pick/fork to eat them with. Service was prompt and polite, and the place was as clean as any fast food joint. So why not five stars? Well, mostly because the meat didn't have a lot of salt, which translated to a lack of flavor. You can order sandwiches with onion/lettuce/tomato, or with cheese, or with a jus. I had the cheese (more like 'Wiz) and it was fine but the sandwich lacked the salty punch it needed. I put barbeque sauce on it but that only made it sweeter. I will know next time to order with a jus or just sprinkle salt on it. The cheese oozed out of my sandwich and got on the plate, which I put my sandwich down on. By three bites in I looked like a 5 year old trying to eat his first sandwich. It was a mess. My companion didn't have this problem, so I guess I am a drooling slob when it comes to roast beef sandwiches! One last oddity: the bathrooms require a key but the sign outside doesn't say this. I got in without a key, but my companion didn't and we didn't realize you needed a key. We waited outside for a least 5 minutes before a woman used the other bathroom with a key and we figured out the situation. Oh well, I will be back! read more

Mr. B's Worst! I have been a long time lover of this place, even when they had a location at Gore Mtn. in the winter. The restaurant now closes at 1900h - dinner time! Who would close their restaurant at dinner time? The prices are now ridiculous due to "Covid", however I appreciated their signs at the beginning of the pandemic stating the cost of beef had risen so their prices would too, which also meant their quality would go down, unlike their prices when beef became cheaper and more readily available. The best beef sandwiches are now so dry, and the tater tots no longer perfectly seasoned. Most of the times they are cold. My brother and I always love a good Mr. B's when I come home, but we have stopped going as have many others we know. After our third visit of having dry beef sandwiches, well over cooked and cold, unseasoned tots, I phoned a few weeks ago to let them know that we were not very happy and we thought maybe once or twice was a fluke, but three times. As my brother lives literally 5 minutes form the location, our tots have always been warm before, but now they are cold. I spoke with someone who might have been a manager and I was told that I should have pulled back around to have a voucher given for another sandwich if we were unhappy. I stated that we were not going to go back out after getting home with our food. I was then told I should have called, well what do you think I am doing on the phone with you now? Just saying hello? In all I was told that I should have made the complaint when the issues happened and that was that. If I wanted the product corrected, then would have been the time. Let's get one thing straight shall we - Customer Service is paramount, and I was calling as a courtesy, not for free food. Being in the industry, I would want to know if my product was sub par, especially to locals who have been patronising the establishment since we were children. The aloof attitude of this employee has been enough for me to actually write this review. I no longer visit this restaurant with my brother, and no longer offer to take my grandmother here when she suggests Mr B's. There are plenty of choices for places to eat around here, and I am sorry to say that Mr. B's, which used to be the Best, how now gone to the Worst! It is sad when a local place treats its local customers like crap, discounts their observations and thoughts on the food products, and then tells the customer there is nothing that the restaurant is going to do to make it better. I said to the woman that her attitude was unfortunate and so was the experience in ringing the restaurant after three bad attempts at trying to get a good sandwich and tots. She could care less whether or not me, my brother, friends, and family ever return to Mr. B's. With this attitude, we wouldn't want to return and certainly wouldn't want to give our business or money to this restaurant again.
