Me being Hispanic know what real Mexican food taste like. I wasn't impressed by this place although the food was good.. I don't think I would eat here again. With that being said the drinks are on point! Definitely get a drink ( adult beverage ) at the bar before eating something. read more

Came here for dinner right at dinner time. We have eaten here before and hands down it was very good. Tonight not so good. The patrons who came in after us received their food before us. The bar staff was attentive and the food was amazing. It was not over salted but the seasoning was on pint. The chips and salsa were better than most other places. I hate to rate Mr Cactus because I am giving them a 5 and this will make more people to want to eat there. They have some of the best service within a 25 mile radios. The owner or manager is greatly involved. I eat there on a regular basis and it is rare that he does not stop and ask if we need anything. All employees who work there appear to enjoy working there. YUM! We ordered Carnitas street tacos, tamales and margaritas. Passion Margarita and House margarita. Both were delicious, and made with real house made Margarita mix. Not a sour mix like most restaurants. ( I don't like tequila sours. I margaritas) Tacos were well seasoned and the filling to masa ratio was great! Probably 35-40%masa/60-65%filling. SO GOOD! Food is okay. No better than most Mexican restaurants. The atmosphere is what I hate! The mariachi music is so exceedingly LOUD, it hurts your ears and gives you a headache. You literally have to yell at each other to even talk. I love mariachi music, but not if it's deafeningly loud! When you ask them to turn the music down, they rudely refuse. I did not enjoy my experience eating there. There are other places you can go to eat that offer a more comfortable, enjoyable, dining experience and you won't have to suffer a hearing loss just to eat. read more

My husband and I decided to go to Mr. Cactus in Easley. We waited along time to be seated. I decided to order some shrimp tacos last night. Upon the food arriving, the taco's looked like appetizers rather than an entree. I was very disappointed with the tacos. The tacos were on corn tortillas as requested but, on each one was only 3 shrimp, shredded purple cabbage 1/3 cup, diced onions and tomatoes 1/4 cup along with chiplote sauce on the side. It sounds yummy. However, I have never seen purple cabbage on taco's and such a skimpy tacos for an entree. I do not advise to order this at this restaurant. The manager I spoke to says, "I am sorry" but, this did not help me with my meal or my hunger. read more

I had high hope for this restaurant because it was packed mid week. Not authentic as I thought. Salsa tasteless, like tomato sauce from a can. Meal was just so so. When this place first opened it was awesome and so was the food! I get enchiladas at every single Mexican restaurant I go too. The last two times we've gone, I've gotten enchiladas and the sauce has been burnt or over cooked and served to us without warning. Super disappointing. The lack of ratings had me leery that it might be friend/family reviews...but heck no! Very fresh food not loaded with oils. Chunky guacalmole was a large portion and excellent even though it could have benefitted from a dash of salt and lime juice (if they were in there it was very minimal). Hubby's burrito was delicious and would have fed 2 generously. Street tacos were very good even though the corn tortillas would not hold the ingredients without shredding. Finished those off with a fork. Flights of tequilas looked interesting to try for an evening trip. Service was very efficient, knowlegeable and friendly with multiple servers per table to ensure food is delivered quickly. read more

Today I ordered the lunch special #4, listed as a Chili Relleno with a taco, rice and beans. This dish is always made using a Pablano Chili. When it came out it had almost no flavor or spice at all and I spoke to server and told her "It was the worst Chili Relleno I had ever had. She said that they usually put in a "very small" chili (NOTE THE WORD CHILI). I recommended that she advise her Manager of my comments. At the end of the meal, just before we paid and left, I spoke to her again and said I was surprised that the Manager had not at least come out to speak to me after such a strong comment. She then, and only then, said they used just regular Green Peppers in this dish and NOT any kind of Chili at all regardless of the name on the Menu. She said the manager was in the building but that (at 1:40 PM) he had just recently come in. This entire incident gave a very poor impression even though I had eaten here several times in the past and other dishes were quit good. There is no reason for someone with the title of "Manager" to have such a title if he is just too lazy to talk with a customer who makes some serious complaints. The server did her job, the Manager did not. There are 5-6 other Mexican places in this rather small town and some of them serve good food and have honest menu listings and do NOT call Chili Relleno a Chili that is made with green peppers. read more
