What a find! I live fewer than two miles away, and driven this stretch of Broadway many times, and still never even paid attention to it being here. A huuuuuuuuuge warehouse of carpeting, rugs, and flooring. Apparently it was once an auto dealership, and it is cavernous--a great asset for a store like this. I stopped in here because I'm looking for flooring for the first floor of my home. I'm indecisive so going back and forth between whether I want tile or carpet (likely both, but I keep thinking I'd rather have carpet throughout). Colors adds a whole new layer of complexity, of course! They sell carpet rolls here for really great prices, and have lots of variety of tile to choose from as well. In addition to those items, they have tons of rugs here. They make their own rugs or can make rugs for you. I was simply browsing through the hundreds of rugs they had and happened to find a couple that I liked. They were really well-priced so I decided to take them; I can't wait to see how they look in my home. Customer service here is fantastic. When I've visited I've been greeted practically the second I entered, but they aren't pushy or overbearing. Apparently they don't work on commission so that may be part of the reason why. I've been given plenty of latitude to wander and look, while every once in a while still being asked if I am finding everything ok. They were happy to explain to me differences in types of carpet or tile, the good and bad factors in each, pricing, and so on. They will do in-home measurements to determine the amount of material you need, and that's a free service. Once they know the size they're working with it'll help narrow down amongst what they have or you could pick something else. Prices seem fair, too. I struggled to find a carpet place in Chicago--it seemed like when I was looking all I was originally finding were some of those places with the jingles that you know--so I'm really glad I stumbled upon this place when I needed it. read more

I'll never buy a rug online again! I have a new place and I've been searching relentlessly online for rugs but it is SOOO overwhelming! It's impossible to see how they will look online and the return process is the worst. I stumbled upon this place today and I ended up being there for like 2 hours! They have every rug imaginable and at fantastic pricing! The people who work there are absolutely amazing. They help you choose a rug not only for the style but the material and your living circumstances (ex: I have a cat w claws and dark floors w fake wood). They do not bother you but will also spend as much time helping you as you need. Dena was soooo kind, patient, helpful, and attentive. (There was a female employee there who tried to help us one day and she was really crabby. Ask for Dena instead.) She spent time helping us choose the right remnant, sent someone out to measure our room, they cut it to size (it was a weirdly shaped room) and bound it, then delivered it at an incredibly good price. They have a huge collection of carpeting and area rugs. Runner rugs can be cut to custom length, so I got 24 feet! You won't be able to get that in a store. There's free parking, which is a bonus. I should have written this a long time ago, but sometimes forget that it is just as important to rave about wonderful businesses but also to do the opposite when appropriate. Rest assured, this is a strong recommendation to look at Exposition Flooring Design Center the next time you are looking for any type of floor coverings. My two dad's went there just as they were purchasing our new house and they had the pleasure of working with Dena when they purchased new carpeting for the lower level of the home plus two huge area rugs that I like to run around on for the living and dining room. Dena has also offered some tremendous suggestions for other areas of the house from time to time The crews we have worked with have been professional, courteous, and unquestionably proficient. You can't ask for anything more than that. However, their prices will often beat the competitor's sale prices. It will be well worth your time to stop by and chat with them in a very relaxed atmosphere. I have to give them four paws up and a HUGE tail wag. I've been to the store twice... The first time I visited the store, I was in the process of buying a new couch. The color I had in mind for my new couch would required me to buy a new area rug in efforts to color coordinate the room. First off, the customer service or lack thereof at this establishment is absolutely pathetic. I was literally the only customer in the store, but none of the sales reps really care to sell me anything. It was as if I was inconveniencing them by me asking questions.... About rugs! It's a rug store dummy! I don't know the sales rep's name, but if you walk in the front door, make a left and walk straight back, her desk can be located in the general vicinity. To say that she was disinterested in actually providing customer service, would be an understatement. I barely got three sentences out of her. The second time I visited the store, I had just purchased my new couch within the hour and I was going to actually purchase a brand new area rug on the spot, but once again... I ended up dealing with the exact same sales rep... The lack of basic customer service made me feel very uneasy. I guess rugs and carpets are selling themselves these days, if that's the case, I need a career change, because I'm in the wrong damn industry. Think about this for just one second, if a customer comes into your store in a spending mood, and that customer leaves your store no longer willing to spend dime... Your customer service must be pretty horrific. I came to the conclusion, if they don't want my money, I'm damn sure not going to give it to them. read more

I use Exposition Flooring a couple times each year to supply and install flooring in buildings I own. I cannot recommend them strongly enough! The selection is wide without being overwhelming. The Service and installation are without equal. This is the important part : Go here instead of a big box store! Your experience will be so much better! And it is not more expensive! My flatmate and I needed an area carpet for our living room and a custom cut of carpet for my room. We chose this place because of the glowing Yelp reviews, and I couldn't have been happier with my experience here. With a background in design, Ron was amazingly helpful! After listening to our ideas, he helped us pick out a beautiful 8x10 area carpet right in our price range. He was very thorough: he showed us the carpet in bright and dim light, had us walk across it with and without padding, and brought out sample wood panels and color swatches so we see how the carpet would match with the floor and walls in our apartment. In picking out the carpet for my room, Ron showed me the carpet remnants that were on sale and had me run the back of my hand over each sample to ensure the texture and softness were to my liking. Again, another example of his thoroughness. My flatmate and I bought the 8x10 area rug ($320), 9x10 carpet ($150), and foam padding for both ($30). Although the prices for all these items were already very reasonable, Ron gave us an additional discount. He clearly believed in and exemplified excellent customer service. I would also like to say that Tony was also very helpful that day. He cut the carpet to our specifications, folded the carpet so compactly that my flatmate and I had no problem fitting all four items into our Civic, and he carried the items out to our car. A note on parking: this place has a private lot next to it, so I recommend driving south on Broadway towards the store so you can easily turn into the lot. I highly recommend this business and Ron for all your carpet and flooring needs. read more

Exposition Flooring Design Center is hardly noticeable on a quiet part of Broadway Avenue in Edgewater (bonus: they have a parking lot adjacent to the north), but when you actually go in you can see that this is an established business with lots to choose from and good service. I was a walk-in based on a Yelp recommendation and had a $20 budget to buy a rug for an event the next day. I explained my situation to Dena, the manager ,and she came up with a great solution, instead of my buying a small remnant she could rent me three beautiful Persian style rugs for my meager budget. I was thrilled, this met my needs perfectly. I could pick up the rugs the next morning, Friday, and return them after noon on Sunday when they opened, all for a great price. I would also recommend Exposition for carpet and for rugs, they have a knowledgeable staff and a wide selection. Perhaps the most amazing thing about the store is the carpet remnant section which takes up two large rooms and a warehouse like section of the building. I know where I will buy my next rug or runner, the choices are endless and the price is very reasonable. All in my neighborhood, a great find! read more

I went here looking for a rug to tone down the outrageous colors I chose for my living room (orange+yellow+teal=toxic, not Moroccan as I had hoped.) Ron, the ridiculously nice salesman showed us around the store, indicating different types of carpets. My favorite part of our first trip-after spending 20 minutes with us, he goes "Now, I don't want you to buy anything today. Come back tomorrow with some textiles, and then we can figure out what you need." Well, we did, and Ron spent over an hour with us the next day, going through every single carpet in our prices range, and even pulling some down to show us why they wouldn't work (no small feat.) Seriously, that guy is great. We ended up getting a medium sized area rug, with an awesome pattern but neutralizing color for under $150. The lack of a fifth star? The less expensive rugs had some high points, but many low points (big Ben Franklin $100 bills in blue and pink, etc), enough to make our final options limited. I got some new rugs and needed fiberpad to go under them. I knew that I wanted exactly what I have under the rugs I bought previously from Exposition, so I called to order them (trying to avoid a senseless trip to the showroom across the town). In the end, I worked with Israel who was extraordinarily helpful, but prior to speaking with him I spoke with Tony, who was a total jerk and told me that he didn't take phone orders and I would have to come in, despite my explaining that I had my old invoice in my hand and just wanted to re-order the same rug pad exactly, but in a different size. Taking away some stars for the uneven service. I can't believe someone who is so rude is allowed to "help" potential customers. As as aside, Ron no longer works there. read more

We had a great experience with Exposition Flooring. We had a super tight time schedule. We closed on our house on Tuesday, the painters were coming on Saturday, the movers were arriving on Sunday. We needed our new carpet in on Friday. We met up with them on Tuesday, picked the carpet on Wednesday, and it was installed on Friday. We'd gotten one other quote from an installer which was more expensive for less quality carpeting. And we had another quote from another carpet company that was leading us towards wool at twice the price. Dina at Expo layed it all out for us, helped us pick a quality carpet (and something that was in stock) When it turned out she didn't have enough for our job, she was able to negotiate with another carpet company to get some extra to make sure our job finished on time and under budget. Next time, I am not getting another quote. I am just going with Expo. read more

It was time to replace our rug after an unfortunate painting accident right before Christmas guests. We were able to find another remnant that we loved and they turned it into a new 12 x 12 rug for our living room. We love it even better than the first one! My experience was not without hiccups - stained carpet, hurt installation crew, back ordered carpet, etc. At one point, things went really wrong and I didn't hear back for a while. This review is long overdue. Exposition Flooring saved me when we purchased our new condo back in January. I was planning on painting/staining the concrete under the unit's existing carpet (there was NO WAY that carpet could stay), but when we ripped it up we discovered the concrete was in horrible condition and not usable as a flooring. Because of the unlevel concrete wood flooring would be outrageously expensive (would have to remove baseboards and doors and level everything). So, I called Exposition and told them I had a flooring emergency. I called on a Tuesday and had movers delivering furniture on a Thursday. They had a guy out to measure my unit on Tuesday afternoon and I followed him back to the store to pick out carpet. They had it installed on Wednesday and the installation was done beautifully. I can't believe how great they were! The price for about 600 sq ft was $1600 which was totally worth it and, by far, one of the best options available. read more

After following up with 2 emails and 2 phone calls over the course of 2 weeks, I never received a quote. Wow was this place is the pits. Went in spoke to a very friendly salesperson, I had a professionally done layout of my basement he looked at it and we talked options. I scheduled for a measurement, which they wanted. The measuring guy came out a few days later, did the measurement and I waited for the quote. I called them to get the quote, a very friendly person said that they would talk to someone and get the quote to me later that day.No quote came. I called the next day and was told the same thing. I never got a call back. They ghosted me. I guess the carpet business is doing so well that they don't need my money. read more

I found this store 3 years ago - and it is now my only flooring store. It is a multiple-generation family business that is very helpful, knowledgeable, friendly and honest. They want you to be happy with your purchase, not to just make a sale. That type of business takes more time with each customer. I first found them when looking for a replacement rug for a rental property. They have great remnant pricing - and also excellent pricing on overstock rolls. Dena purchases a range of quality things and passes those deals to her customers. They stock samples of pretty much everything you could find for carpet options. One of my big projects was a large custom area rug. I was pretty picky so it took me multiple visits. Dena and the team kept working with me - take home these samples and try them, let's look in these books, have you thought about this style. I found EXACTLY what I wanted. Dena showed me the benefits of different edging options, with honesty and no pressure. Dena went above and beyond - she was not pleased with the edge colors so pushed the supplier for more options. You would not get that from most business, especially corporate chains. If you want to be wined, dined and waited on hand and foot, go somewhere else. If you like to yell and demand service, go somewhere else. If you want high-quality personal service from people who will bend over backwards for you, then this is your place. Go in and then look around - the team will be there for you. They are probably busy keeping up on other orders when you walk in the door - that is how an American dream works. It is worth it! It is so hard to find an area rug in town. When i came in this shop, i got confused because the shop is pack. They have great collection of carpet, but they have all old fasion rugs. I suppose they have not changed their rugs for years. When i touched the rugs, i had some shedding on my hands. Thats why i decided not to Buy an area rugs from them. I have been pleased with previous purchases, but I was very disappointed in the way I was "sized up" and given a very high quote, while some lazy saleswoman tried to "humor me". I think she thought I was just another "rich gay guy" who could be swindled easily out of my money. I am so happy I left and founds several quotes hundreds of dollars less at other businesses that did not size me up. Also the saleswoman tried to scare me from going elsewhere by saying "You might get a better price, but our carpet is better". I don't think it is particularly a "gay" thing, I just like to be "sized up" as to how much money I have by salespeople. read more

belatedly motivated to get a rug for the front room after my recent move, i had a burst of productivity as i left cheetah's gym. i recalled seeing a possible place just 2 blocks south & i stumbled on exposition carpets. there were a number of less-than-appealing rugs hanging in the windows that i immediately recognized as what contributed significantly to my avoidance of this establishment until now. the sunshine & runner's high eased my reticence to enter & i'm sooo glad it did. i was greeted immediately upon entering & directed to browse at my leisure for remnants. richard was friendly, warm & helpful. not the kind of salesman that lurks just behind you as you shop pushing you towards higher priced items or trying any hard sales pitches. just looked you in the eye, smiled & let you know what sales they were offering. clearly i had wasted too much time & effort online or at popular furniture stores searching for the perfect area rug, when what i really needed for my high-traffic area [read: 2 bulldog mixes under the age of 2] was a remnant cut custom to size. i found the perfect color in a piece close to what i needed. all of the remnants were marked down, very reasonable priced & currently an additional 10% off. richard quickly drew up the invoice letting me know that they would have the edges bound by the next day at 3pm (it was past noon when i placed the order). 3PM next day!! a friend of mine is still waiting for a remnant she order 3 weeks ago from another store! i was tickled pink... feeling quite accomplished & clever. though i was nervous when upon calling ahead i was told they would FOLD the finished piece to accommodate our ride. eeek! i suspect i'm not the only one who doesn't care for creased carpet, but i was assured they would do it in a fashion no damage would occur. my arm candy/lifting help had it in place within moments, no crease, perfect edges, just a quick vacuum = happy digs & dogs. the lil guys were rolling their lil backs all over it in prep for the 'opening night of wrestle royale'. they're sleeping off their rambunctiousness now & i couldn't be happier. read more
