The food was okay, service was prompt and helpful, the atmosphere was clean and well kept. We ate at the restaurant and we're very pleased with the atmosphere and service. The food quality was 3.5 stars all fresh and well made. The portions were fairly big which made this a good value overall!!

Hidden gem! You would never expect a place named Mr. Chicken to be an authentic Portuguese restaurant - right down to the server from the Azores! My party ordered pork Alentejana, the Mr. Chicken Pork Steak, 1/2 chicken a casa, and bife a Portuguesa. All the portions were MASSIVE, very generous for the prices. My sangria was delicious, definitely homemade, and again a very generous portion. Located in the building that used to be Simone's restaurant - it's still spacious and contemporary inside. They do takeout and table service, so grab your vavó and come to Mr. Chicken!

Great service, food, and atmosphere! It's so good -- I brought my family and they loved it.

Potatoes were good , tad salty

2 chicken stars for the potatoes. Chicken & Rib , Portuguese soup tasted like it was cooked yesterday. Strange entrance with cars parked arrow lines . Didn't taste as fresh as the driveway with few patrons . Not surprised

My friend and I ordered the Portuguese steak sandwich that came with fries to go and took it to the local beach less than 2 minutes away from the restaurant. Contrary to other reviews I found the food lacking in all flavor and extremely dry. Being Portuguese, I grew up with the cuisine and garlic is a staple especially when it comes to Portuguese steak. I could not even taste it. That steak should have slapped you with garlic and there was nothing. There was zero salt, pepper, NOTHING! The only thing with flavor was the pickled red pepper because it comes already in pickle juice and the sandwich had one pepper. My other issue with the meal was the fact that the steak was extremely dry to the point I had difficulty swallowing it. The fries were also a disappointment usually served on the sandwich with a brow garlic gravy, these fries were served plain on the side. Again no salt and tasted fishy so they definitely were frying fish in the same oil. Seeing I don't like fish, I was not impressed. While the restaurant is nice, I cannot say anything about the service because we grabbed and went. Unfortunately, I will not be going back. There are plenty of other good Portuguese restaurants in the area that will fulfill the want for Portuguese food. I really wanted this to be good with the proximity to the beach but it just wasn't.

I knew Jack's would be on the " must visit" list and I was NOT disappointed. The owner/chef (?) came to the table asking if there was anything else we might enjoy. Fabulous service. While the deco is truly retro from when first opened in the 1970s, ( but very clean) the food is why I go! Our party had eggplant parm, scrod, smelts in special sauce, & shrimp Mozambique. The sauce for smelts does have a bite to it if you have issues with spicy foods). We left with many leftovers to enjoy another day. Their luncheon menu is very reasonably priced and ample portions. Don't pass this restaurant up- will not disappoint.!

When dining in I'd highly recommend trying the steamed littlenecks--once you finish the clams, keep the sauce for dipping the complementary bread in! Bife A Case is my family's go-to entree, always ordered medium rare and with round potato fries. I'm sure you can't go wrong with any other entrees, but the opportunity cost is too high for me to try them--we eat here about once a month, and the order's always 4x Bife A Casa plus a couple apps. I understand that some family owned restaurants have favorite regulars and give preferential treatment to certain guests. But this was a very disappointing experience and we will go to other Portuguese restaurants in the future. It's not a great feeling when you are made to feel not as important, at a restaurant that claims to pride itself on making you feel like family. The Lima's

My husband and mother both ordered a beer but were told by either the manager or owner that, and I quote "we're a Portuguese bar we don't serve that shit"; I think my mouth quite literally hit the floor. They have a FULL bar and you expect me to believe you do not carry a single beer, specially Portuguese beer like Sagres or Super Block if you claim to be a Portuguese bar? We were told they could not make a bourbon on the rocks for whatever reason and settled water and soda because it was exhausting trying to figure out what the bartender was capable of making or what they had in stock. I have NEVER been treated with such an attitude within 15 minutes of being seated and would never come back here after this meal, the other waiter who eventually took care of us for the rest of the meal was very kind and did his best to make up for what had occurred. There are so many other Portuguese restaurants in East Providence that Riviera doesn't even compare at this point, overall super disappointed.

The wonderful atmosphere, good vibes, great delicious food, and awesome service all came together in perfect harmony. Your meal comes with a large house salad and bread which I greatly appreciated. We started off with the Mozambique Shrimp appetizer which is a savory, garlicky, and mildly spicy sauce. It is traditionally made by simmering butter, olive oil, copious amounts of garlic, onion, white wine, and Sazón seasoning often with saffron or annatto, finished with hot sauce or peri-peri sauce. ABSOLUTELY MIND BLOWING! For my meal, I ordered the Bitoque which is a classic, hearty Portuguese dish featuring a medium fried steak topped with a runny fried egg, served with chips, and vegetable rice, all tied together with a flavorful butter, wine, and garlic sauce. I was told it's a popular Portuguese comfort food. For dessert, I ordered my favorite Tiramisu!
