So I was visiting my pal Nick in Providence and he brought me to Oxford Tavern and it was a great choice! I went for the Filet Minion and it was delicious.. Yummy yummy food! I kind of like their new location in Barrington as well. Feels more open and plenty of parking. We were greeted and seated quickly even though we were early for our reservation. Hot and dirty martinis were refreshing and perfect. I've been two or three times and definitely want to return to try all their dishes. Their free, fried spaghetti is also a nice touch too. Oh! And of course the staff are lovely and friendly. We always went with my friend who is vegan and she orders their pasta in Marsala sauce which is divine! Second time visiting this establishment. We were blown away the first time so we thought we'd give a second shot. Service was impeccable. Our server was attentive and accommodating but not hovering. We ordered our drinks Bombay Sapphire Martini straight up with 3 olives for me and a Tangueray and Tonic for hubs. Both spot on. Next up a beet and orange salad to share. Delicious and just enough. Entrees. I ordered the Paella, something you don't see on too many menus and Hubs ordered a sausage, chourizo dish. Both excellent choices (with enough for a take home second meal). Finally got around to trying out the new Barrington location and it was nothing short of amazing! We got there on a rainy Sat night - called ahead to see if they took reservations but were told no and that there should be no wait. We got there shortly after and were promptly seated and serviced. The new spot is def a few steps up from the old spot - updated, modern and airy. Meaghan was our waitress and was wonderful - as was all the staff. It was outstanding friendly service and efficient all at the same time. We started with the loaded tater tots and the octopus special. The octopus was cooked wonderfully and the tots were a fun appetizer to share - reminds me of my elementary school lunch if I was Richie Rich. But the spotlight goes to our entrees - I got the chicken parm with fresh rigatoni and the pink vodka sauce and he ordered veal parm with fresh bucatini and pink vodka sauce (how unoriginal ). Both were delicious! I love me a good vodka sauce and fresh pasta - my rigatoni was maybe 20 seconds short of being al dente but I'd prefer a tad harder vs soggy floppy pasta. The bucatini however was perfecto! The mister said it was one of the best veal parms he's ever had and that's a tall order to fill! All drinks were creative and tasty! And with how delicious dinner was, we had to get some dessert and they didn't disappoint! We were way too full and took the rest of dessert to go. With the nightmare that is the Washington Bridge debacle - this is a great place to support more locally, you won't be disappointed! No need to go to the Hill for some good Italian (they do serve up Portuguese fare as well) when we've got a great spot in our backyard! With apps, drinks, dinner and dessert - tax + tip was close to $200 but well worth every penny! read more

Finally made it to Oxford tavern and it didn't disappoint! The fried spaghetti was odd but definitely tasty! The spices on it were delish. Drinks weren't watered down and were very good (recommend the cosmo). Main entree of filet and stuffed shrimp were so good! My filet was cooked to my liking just would have liked a sauce on top versus just being grilled (personal preference). The homemade mashed potatoes were fluffy and buttery just perfect! read more

I visited their new Barrington location, and they now accept credit cards. I ordered the Portuguese and Fenway pizzas. Both were decent, but a bit on the small side. There were a ton of toppings, but felt the pizzas were over powered by the banana peppers. The flavors were nice otherwise, a bit spicy maybe. First time here. My friend suggested we try it based on his friend's recommendation. What a great place! Decoration was nice but nothing special but the vibe from the regulars was cool. I had the most delicious pasta from here last night, this is my second time ordering food from here and I haven't stopped thinking about it since the first which was almost a year ago. I got the cheese tortellini which is so creamy without being too overpowering. Also has yummy little peas and chicken in it. All of the pasta dishes from here are absolutely amazing especially any that include seafood. Last night we did take out, but based off of eating here last time I can say it's a cozy environment with a few sections of tables and a bar area. read more

A good friend of mine visits the Oxford regularly and invited us out this past Wednesday. When we arrived, a pipe had burst but the staff was quick to seat us and let us know the status of when we would be waited on. I was impressed with their honesty and happy they set our expectations. The menu is printed out and changes daily because it's made from scratch. I had bucatini with white sauce and lobster, scallops, clams and squid. It was phenomenal. Bucatini is my favorite pasta but you can't get it out normally because it is fresh made. The owner, who came out to talk to us, let me know that he buys everything he can locally. We were served very fresh breast with olive oil dip. Liked that a lot. Here's the surprise for me...deep fried raw spaghetti with seasoning. WOW. It's a must have. Martinis were made quick and every one was very good. Cosmos with tequila and espresso. Staff was great. We forgot our leftover food and the very kind waiter ran it out to us in the pouring rain. I had a really nice experience here last week with my husband and another couple who had already been. The place is located in a small local plaza in Barrington, parking is good. It was a Friday evening around 7:30pm, we didn't have reservations but took our chances. It was busy but they had a high top available near the bar. Ambience is nice, cozy. The high top was located in the far back right corner which I think is a lovely place to be seated here. The food was really good. I really enjoyed my choice of Linguine and Little necks and my husband and friends all enjoyed their choices as well. The entire experience was just really good. The service was truly professional. Our server was very attentive. Cocktails were really well made, I ordered an Old Fashioned, which is my preferred cocktail and the bartender made it perfectly. We will be going back soon:) read more

My husband and I ate here this evening after our son's wrestling match at the local high school. I looked around for restaurants in the area since we are unfamiliar with Barrington. Oxford Tavern came up. I read the reviews on Yelp and decided to give them a try. Wow! We were surprised to find not only exceptional service here but also delicious food. I highly recommend the salmon piccata. This unassuming homey hometown bar/ restaurant surpassed our expectations. It is clear the owners, Alan and Lorree, take pride in their restaurant and enjoy interacting with their customers. Their daughter, Arielle, is an amazing bartender as well... personable, welcoming, and knowledgeable. By the time we left this evening, we felt like family. I wish we lived closer because this place would definitely be a regular in our restaurant rotation. Try them out if you haven't yet- you won't be disappointed! read more

Looks can be deceiving - I was a bit worried when we arrived at what was a strip mall type location. Good news was there was plenty of parking. They don't take reservations so we we called ahead and they said they did not have a long wait. When we arrived they were a little busier and they told us we had a 20-25 minute wait. They were spot on and called us after about 20 minutes. The staff were very nice and helpful as we ordered as we had a few questions. They were also attentive without hovering. For dinner we enjoyed the Seafood pasta with vodka sauce - loads of fresh seafood (scallops and shrimp) and a great sauce. We also had the Grilled swordfish which was fresh and a nice sized piece. We have followed the Oxford Tavern team as they moved to Barrington. Coming from NJ we were eager to see the new place and enjoy their delicious food. We had a (another) great meal at the tavern last night. BF had the corn chowder with Chourice and the meatball app -6 meatballs in plenty of sauce and melted cheese. I had the Crazy Alfredo which had Italian sausage, chourice and chicken in a creamy cheese sauce. The portion was huge so plenty for leftovers. The new place is very nice with both booths and tables. No trouble getting our party of 3 seated on a Thursday evening at 6:30. Drinks were ample and well-made. Server was attentive and effective. Portion sizes are generous (as they were in East Providence). I had the Chicken Parm - it was OK - very large portion and good but not great. Wife had the Chicken Marsala and she really liked it (left half the pasta). Adult son had the Chicken Torellini with ham and peas and he really liked it (and ate all the leftovers he took home). Drinks, apps, dessert & service are top notch as well. The Cajun fried spaghetti is so different and addicting! The new location is so nice and worth the drive every single time. I've been here several times and will always keep recommending this gem. Our last visit we had Burkley as our server and he is absolutely amazing and goes beyond - we will request him everytime! This place is one of a kind! I was super impressed with the chef and the cooking that takes place right in front of your eyes. There were so many options and all the dishes looked amazing so it was tough to choose. The ribeye was massive and is now on my list of "to order." Another dish that stood out to me was the short rib pulled pork shepherd pie...made and served in a cast iron pan. I ended up getting the Mozambique wings because "who does that!" They were cooked perfectly and the sauce was great! When I finally decided on my dish, I choose pan fried bison steak, which came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Very flavorful, fresh and unique. This was our second time back during COVID times. On Friday evening the place was full and lively, but patrons and staff had their masks on hand. And the food was good as ever. We shared the lamb chops, Caesars salad and the paella. The paella was good but seemed to lack chorizo and fish in addition to the chicken and clams, etc. A large helping some of which we had to take home. We like the place and the staff and the range of diners, a good number of which seem to be regulars. We dine here twice or thrice a year and will be back. read more

Where has this place been hiding? Oh, that's right... in a sort of strip mall off Maple. I stopped in for birthday drinks and cake with a friend who lives in the neighborhood. We split a piece of chocolate glaze cake- simple and stunning. I ordered champagne. It was a small bottle of Chandon. C-lassy! I need to return for everything on the menu- food AND drink. I was so disappointed! We had just discovered it before they closed in East Providence. It was delicious! So we were excited to go to Barrington. The olive oil and bread made me almost gag, they forgot our appetizer and my pasta was inedible. Everyone else that I was with ate their food but said it wasn't great. They also forgot our appetizer. This is a five star plus restaurant! My first time there will definitely lead to many more visits. Firstly, the service is excellent. Everyone in the restaurant is so welcoming. Oxford Tavern is nicely laid out where it's very comfortable. You never feel crowded. The menu has so many wonderful choices. One friend chose the sword fish and loved it. We split the excellent Portuguese egg rolls and the fabulous adult mozzarella sticks. I then had the chicken marsala which was delicious. We all split the the great carrot cake bomb. Their bar is fully stocked with all my favorites. A nice surprise was the peanut butter whiskey & chambord. Also the Cosmo was perfect. The open kitchen is an added touch.
