These hotdogs aren't your basic hotdogs, Sonora Style with bold flavor. They also have a vegan selection that is very appetizing.

Walk along the Embarcadero & get a freeze on a hot day, stop by Chilanga's (the best booth there) & get my huitlacoche on. Live music, shade, delicious vendors, right across from the water. I did have a little detour from Chilanga's - while I was waiting for my spouse to park, I sat at a shady table with a woman who was telling me about the poke truck (Island Mike's) & explaining that her coworker ran it as a side hustle, and that the poke was delicious because he had lived in Hawaii. I agonized a bit - get my Chilanga's huitlacoche huarache - or try the poke? I eventually decided: it's Mother's Day, you can have ALL the things, just like at a buffet! So I went to Island Mike's first. They advertised Broke Da Mouth poke - and I was a little suspicious at first - cuz Island Mike's didn't look like a Hawaii native but a mainlander who spent some time there. BUT... I got my poke "island style" (furikake, sushi rice, and the poke - not lots of distractions like seaweed salad or ginger like in the "mainland style") - and it really was off the hook. Really fresh & delicious and perfectly made. YUM & YUM. $12 for one scoop (the smaller size) & very worth it. Of course I still needed my Chilanga's so then I got the huitlacoche huarache (a vegetarian taste of heaven - shredded lettuce, huitlacoche, Mexican cheese on a huarache (masa dough) & tried the mango passion fruit agua fresca. The huarache is huge and I'd already had the little poke, so I took most of it home to eat later. But it was just as yummy as I remembered. And the agua fresca is amazing. I'll still crave Chilanga's but now I'll crave Island Mike's too. I need to get down here more often because it is a super fun outing that is too good to waste on tourists!

There was live music and aa few food stalls. Good Eatz (filipino/hawaiian fusion) caught my eye mainly because they have a few Ube pastries (mochi, ube bar, etc). I first ordered the ube bar which passed the test so I went back to order the mochi. They also offer lumpia, spam musubi and chicken wing combo plates and pork dumplings.

Let me first say, yelping is fun. Checkin in and leaving tips are a hoot and a half. But…read morediscovering hidden gems, that's a yelper's mission statement. After being dropped off at the adjacent tow yard to pick up my towed illegally parked car downtown, my fiance and I discovered Tacos El Mitotero. This place is an actual taco stand that's gifted in making some of the best street tacos I have ever eaten north of the border. The last time I had good street tacos were at another taco stand all the way down in Ensenada, Mexico. Run by a customer friendly couple, of chef Carlos and his wife Sandra, Taco El Mitotero makes mainly just street tacos, all of which a $2 each. My girl and I tried the adobada and the asada flavored tacos. Chef Carlos executed his culinary mastered grill with expertise, serving a just right pork adobada taco, enriched with spicy flavors. We definitely tasted the well blended red chili, oregano, and garlic in the adobada. He followed with an equally tasteful seasoned asada taco. A one two knockout punch on my card. BAM!!!! with a touch of lights out. While chef Carlos grills, Sandra whipped up a fresh guacamole dip for us. So simple, and yet I often mess up. But under Sandra, we both were WoW! with its avocado taste accented by the lime juice, salt & pepper. Located on Commercial street across from the under construction trolley station on the orange line, Taco El Mitotero caters mainly to a select group of repeat customers within the local neighborhood. Hours are definitely limited, Tacos El Mitotero opens only Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 pm till midnight. For a foodie adventure in street food and the most authentic best south of the border experience just north of the border, drive to Taco El Mitotero. My fiance and I hope to meet fellow yelpers there weekly as we try everything on the menu.

The owner/operator/chef treated us well. Can't wait to get back.

So I'd like to "unrecommend," a restaurant I had a really bad experience at: El Carrito in Logan Heights. I get there, take a menu and noticed that as I sat down, what seemed to be a staff person runs out. When I'm ready to order, I'm told that the the cashier ran out and there was no one to take my order. That I'd have to wait 15 mins. That kinda bothered me because I was on a time crunch, and I'm disabled so I just can't run up and go. So two things: they could have warned me about the emergency before I sat down and studied the menu. Also "the cook," was really the cashier, and "the cashier," was the cook. Lying in my face was unnecessary and bizarre. Next, the food was barely edible, and barely there! Served very little, and I proved it as I turned around and saw what other patrons were served: a mountain of food! The chilaquiles were mere tortilla chips with minimal sauce slapped on them. Felt more like nachos than chilaquiles. Also, pretty flavorless. And the side of breakfast potatoes were not fresh. Definitely reheated from the weekend. To make matters worse, when I opened the ketchup cap, it exploded in my face! Getting on my eyelid and just a little in my eye. When I brought it to their attention, they didn't care and put it on another table, ignoring the fact that it could be bad. And to complete my horrendous experience, they wouldn't give me a refill, telling me they would charge me, lacking any customer service. The ambiance casual. I didn't care for my arms sticking to the table, maybe a clue to their cleaningness or lack thereof. I guess what else would I expect? So Big thumbs down. Save ur money and try another great Mexican establishments.

Order 1: the "Logan" chilaquelas, meat wasn't streak like most places was chopped meat more like carne asada fries, adding 2 eggs were +$3.50 and they were over cooked to the point of rubber! The chips were soggy and the beans tasted like they were from the can. Order 2: Omlet with chicken, onion, tomato, bell pepper and spinach. It was so spicy it was completely inedible. Paid extra $2 for bell peppers when opened found a single chop of a pepper. Outrageous! Canned beans again and potatoes with no flavor. Just chopped and cooked. Not even sure there was salt on them. Order 3: kids meal bean and cheese burrito. How can you possibly mess this up you ask? Yes that was fine but the chips served with it were so stale you couldn't chew them! Order 4: one single shredded chicken sope. The last hope we had for this place. Looked fine but on eating again, no flavor! Chicken tasted like it was plain and boiled and they threw lettuce on top and called it a sope. Sad that they call themselves "crafted with love" All served on paper plates btw.
