Yelpers have done it again! Headed to Yelm to buy something off Craigslist, I decided to see if there was a good breakfast place in the area. We'd have never found this place on our own and it was AWESOME! Bf had the steak omelette, which was full of tender, flavorful steak. My bacon and eggs came with 4 pieces of excellent bacon. My greeting alone makes me love this place already! I walked in, during the chill of the night, and asked if they had a to-go menu. The fellow who greeted me had a smile ear to ear, I told him it was first time in and I wanted to see how the food was. He then happily gave me a menu to look through and offered me a seat to wait. I had a soda and ordered Chicken Alfredo with broccoli and mushrooms and a big sandwich with french fries. From the previous reviews, people say that the wait for food is so long. Although my experience it only took about 15-17 mins from the order to the bagged delivery. The guy even offered me a soda for the road. I will definitely come back because of customer service that I was given and that's hard to come by. read more

Sleepy towns' idea of hustling and bustling. Don't worry, there are no speed bumps in the parking lot as they have no idea what speed is. Expect to wait, on everything. I had to eat here twice beyond my control. Lunch I had French Dip. Basic bread and good meat au ju . But no horse radish. The salad was probably from a condiment bar. Service spotty and poor but smiling. Breakfast next day was impossible to get a water no matter how many times I asked. And no asking by staff on any needs of the table. I had the clam chowder and a turkey sandwich. The clam chowder was very good. The turkey sandwich was plain with no personality. Bread, generic turkey, ice burg lettuce. Bland and not worthy of a third bite. Service was good, considering there was one person taking orders and collecting cash. Nothing great. read more

Okay meal. Nothing exciting. We got seated pretty quickly and the server asked as we were sitting what we wanted to drink. I said I didn't know. I then heard her tell another server that we were seated but we didn't know what we wanted to drink in a snarky voice. We waited. And waited. Others came in welcomed by name, were seated and had their food before we had ours. We finished and waited some more. The other people paid and left. Service here is horrible. Food is mediocre. Just came from Mr Doug's after checking their website and being assured that they were open until 9 pm on Fridays. We drive 20 mins into town and arrived a couple of minutes after 8pm only to learn they head decided to close early "because we were quiet." I really don't care what their hours are but I wish they'd make up their minds, publish their decision, then stick with it. "Maybe" and "if we feel like it" are not customer-friendly. Breakfast food is great but the service is slow because they are busy. The rest of the menu is pretty ho-hum and their prices are more Seattle than Yelm. Breakfast is better at Ma and Pa's and dinner is better at Cattleman's. read more

So we just moved to yelm, a few months ago, heard this place was good so we thought we would try it. Well unless you are a regular you get terrible service. It took a long time just to get our order taken. Our server was rude and inattentive. Made it seem like we were an inconvenience to be a customer there. Was being friendly and chatted it up with what seemed to be regulars. And took a long time to get our food. BUT! I will admit their food is delicious. We will not be returning due to terrible service. But if you don't care and want to waste a morning away, the food is good. read more

Love this place. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner, it's delicious. The breakfast menu is amazing, from Doug's Doozie to Amanda's choice. All meats are from Stewart's - delicious *and* local. The daily soups and the chili (omg, love the chili) and the sandwiches always hit the spot. The staff is always friendly and smiling and attentive, no matter how busy it gets. This is a favorite of ours. The menu offers several different food options if one person in the family is feeling like eating something a little different. Most things on the menu do not disappoint! The waiting service is a little slow during prime times and hours of operation can be inconvenient at times but do yourself a favor and stop to eat at this place and have a milkshake too! ;) read more

After waiting for over 15 min for a table for 5 adults and one baby (We ended up at a table for 4 anyway with extra chairs stuffed on the ends) and watching multiple families of 4 and 5 go ahead of us as we waited, the service was awful. Food came out cold and incorrect. Things were forgotten, and on top of it all, the prices weren't reasonable. After ordering we waited 50 minutes for the wrong food to come out Never again will we be going to this restaurant. read more

Long wait to be served. The food was bland and flavorless. I never knew anyone could ruin bacon and eggs but they did. The cottage cheese was sweet, the eggs small and bacon over cooked. It took almost 15 minutes for the waitress to take my order. She said she was setting stuff down and coming right back. Ten minutes later after some chatting with regulars and ringing up people she returned. There was lots of staff but they all seemed overwhelmed. The waitress even made a comment that it was busy than usual. There was maybe ten tables and at least three waitresses. Long wait bland food I would say drive past here. read more

I don't like this place. Terrible service, and staff with attitude. The food isn't so bad, but small portions for the prices. I had ordered tator tots to go and they charged me $4. I looked in the go box and there were 12 tater tots. Seriously? I refused the order and got my money back. The owner (woman) is very inpatient and needs to work on her people skills. She has waited on our table several different times. Each time she makes snide remarks and laughs about them. I do not know her and I don't find her remarks funny. It is also very noisy because of all the tv's. If you go on Sunday during a game, you might as well be in a bar. People hooting and hollering like their at a bar. It is also very cold and drafty during the colder months. Bring a sweater or a jacket. I have quit going here and frequent the other restaurants in the area. read more

I love Doug's, always consistent meals. Wait staff is freindly and helpful. Big selection of omelettes, great meatloaf! Very local, connected in the community with area schools and clubs. It does get busy at the usual times, try to get there early maybe eat later or wait in line patiently with the rest of the hungry folks. read more

I'm giving this restaurant a 1 star rating not because of the food but because of the service you get there. We waited about 25 minutes before we just decided to get up and leave. We hadn't even ordered our drinks yet. It wasn't super busy as I saw plenty of guest eating. There was also another family there in the same situation as us and they got there before us. It seems like they have a bunch of regulars that they would rather help out first. As I said I'm not rating the food but if you are planning on going here I'd recommend ordering to go or just go to Tahoma Valley Bar and Grill and get great service and good food with a nice view. read more

I had breakfast there for the first time this past weekend. I had the chicken fried steak breakfast plate and everything was great except the hashbrowns. They seemed a bit soggy and wet and kind of mushy, but all in all it was a good breakfast. The only other unfortunate moment was that I didn't notice they offer a 10% discount for military and veterans. Even though I was wearing a veterans hat its obvious that the staff didn't notice it either and still did not give me the discount. Lesson learned for the next time I eat breakfast there, but I will eat there again. read more

Steak omelette, hash browns, biscuits and coffee. Eggs were cooked perfect, fluffy and not burnt. Steak was tasty. Biscuits were very good. Restaurant was clean and not too busy but you can tell, from the way the dining room is set up, that this place probably gets crazy busy on the weekends. read more

We stood in line for over 40 minutes this morning to get a table for breakfast. Yes it's Saturday. We get to the front, party of 5 2 adults 3 kids. Never mind the fact that no one waiting in line was acknowledged by the waitstaff while waiting, not given a hello... again it's Saturday and their slammed. What upsets me is right behind us is another party of 5 2 adults and 3 kids gets the next table available over us?!? No apology, nothing. The waitress straight up says oh you won't fit there. And pulls the family behind us. Mind you were not big people at all, we would have needed a high chair. ALL THE TABLES IN THERE ARE 4 TOPS!!!! We won't fit? Bye Doug's. You've lost my business. Train your staff in some customer service. I am appalled at their service. read more

We usually have one waitress that is just RUDE and purposely makes people wait, but today, my husband I walked in for dinner at 7:50pm and were told we wouldn't be seated because they were closing down the kitchen since they close at 9 (even the door says 8:30). If you're going to stop seating people 40 minutes before You close...lock your door and change the damn sign. Yelm needs some decent restaurants that are open until at least 9....actually open. And to the staff that don't like their jobs...quit and go work elsewhere. Things like this really count when it comes to a resturants reputation. I'm pretty disappointed today. We were disappointed by this place. The food was okay, but not great. It took over 30 minutes to receive our food after we placed our order, and had to wait forever to get our Check after we were done eating. My kids wanted to share something off the regular menu because they didn't have it on the kids menu, and they wanted to charge an extra $4.00 for them to share. That was ridiculous, they weren't asking for any extra food, and we even told them we didn't need an extra plate. The waitress wasn't very friendly either. We should have gone to Burger King. A short time after we were seated near the front windows, another patron arrived and was seated near us. I'd guess he was in his early 50's. He'd driven up in a rusty 1985 corvette with bald tires and parked across 2 spaces. He had a scraggly mustache, wore tight acid-wash jeans with dirty white high-top basketball shoes, and had a gloriously greasy thinning mullet hanging down over his shoulders. He smelled like cheap cigarettes and he and his companion proceeded to complain loudly about someone having broken into "the trailer." Why do I share this? Because it is a perfect analogy for the Mr. Doug's experience. Mr Doug's acts like it's still relevant. But it's not. The service is slow, the prices are high, the atmosphere is dated, the facility is hygienically questionable, and the food is, well, mediocre at best. I hesitate to say the food was disgusting, but I did become nauseated after eating it. And I've eaten Dim Sum at a Chinese place that the health department later shut down and I didn't get nauseated from that, so come to your own conclusions there... Also, as an unrelated side note: after ordering his first plate of spaghetti, our favorite other patron complained about how small the portion size was. You'd think he wouldn't have minded since I'm not sure how he could fit down more than one plate of spaghetti with how tight his jeans were... Anyway, after complaining extensively about the portion size he eventually asked for another plate of spaghetti, which the server brought. When he found out that he would be charged for the second plate, however, he became incensed that someone as cool as him would be charged for a second plate of spaghetti, when it should have been obvious that he could probably throw a football over a mountain... read more

This place has two things I love: a great breakfast menu and a club sandwich. I don't even know why, but I seriously love club sandwiches. On my last visit I couldn't decide what I wanted for breakfast and just ordered their big breakfast platter. It was almost an ungodly amount of food with a surprisingly reasonable price tag. For a moment I was embarrassed to have such a huge amount of food for just me (my friend ordered just an omelet and laughed at me from her side of the table) but I gotta tell you...after I hit the halfway point I started actually feeling proud of myself and damn near finished the whole thing. This is by far my favorite breakfast restaurant. It has a lot of different options for each time of meal. I get breakfast there all the time. Love Mr. Dougs! Most recently I placed a large to go order during a Sunday afternoon when it was very busy... I was concerned that it may take a while, but they took my order with happy faces and I came back 15 minutes later and it was ready. Don't order the (canned) corned beef hash. This place had the highest ratings we could find. The waitress was super nice. My husband ordered the corned beef hash. He thought it was strange that she asked him if he wanted hash browns or home fries since corned beef hash is made with potatoes. He got the home fries they weren't anything special. We were shocked when we seen his corned beef hash. It was straight out of the can. He said it tasted like it was just thrown into the microwave and tossed on his plate. Looked like dog food.
