I came here for the first time while on a lunch break. The falafel wrap with fries was very tasty. In fact, I asked the guy working there how the falafel was as I had been to other falafel places and the falafel at times is either hard and chewy. He gave me a sample to try and I was grateful for it. The falafel wrap was tasty, soft and not too salty. The fries were also freshly made. The establishment looked like it was a former Subway sandwich place with the well-known "vegetable image" on the side of the counter. I also wish they provided the sauces is a plastic bottle like other falafel places do. The ambiance was clean, and comfortable. Felt exhausted and didn't want to cook, so I searched for the nearest gyro place not expecting much. It's such a great feeling when the food turns out absolutely stellar! The combination platter (gyro and chicken shawarma) packs a savory punch. Sacramento has no shortage of restaurants selling such a ubiquitous dish, but Mr Falafel has its own unique signature on it. I agree with the previous yelpers that this little place on a strip mall has fresh pita wrapping delicious meat. They even get their pita twice a week from San Francisco and it tasted great. It is a great quick bite. There is a small free parking lot in the back. Some of the other storefronts are empty but this is a good quick very casual place. You order at the counter and can eat on the two outside tables or few inside spots. read more

I got the chicken shawarma platter and it's so yummy! The rice was very flavorful and the chicken wasn't dry at all. The tsaziki & garlic sauces that came with the platter were so good as well. This was my first time getting food here and the owner Tamer was so nice and I could tell he puts a lot of care into the food! We were given complimentary baklava as well! Mmm falafel! Love how light and fluffy the falafel is here. I had the falafel on a salad. The lettuce was pretty soggy like it was just rinsed not having any time to dry (there was a pool of water at the bottom of the bowl). The sauces on top were tasty though and complemented well with the falafel. Also had a side of fries. Liked the herb seasoning on them but they were a bit greasy to the touch. After seeing they were open I decided to DD an order from Mr. Falafel. I was super excited to have a Mediterranean/Gyro place in East Sac. My order arrived fast and was still warm when I opened my containers. I wasn't disappointed! The baba ganoush is very good, and didn't taste bitter like others I have tried. The combo platter was generous with lots of gyro and chicken. My falafels were crunchy and great with the garlic sauce and tzatziki sauces. The only complaint was that the pita was thin- more like the lavash style bread for wraps. I prefer pita that is thicker and fluffier but what they gave me worked to wrap my rice, hummus and meat for an overall tasty lunch. The prices are on par with other Mediterranean/Middle Eastern places in the area. Next time I will try to go eat in person but as far as DD orders, this is a great place to try! read more

Decided to check out this place because I was looking for a place to pick up some kebabs. The restaurant is located in a little strip with parking in the rear which was nice. The gentleman working inside was incredibly friendly and offered a fresh falafel while waiting for my order to be done. I ended up getting the chicken kebab. As their administrative assistant, I called simply to request a receipt required by our firm. The person who answered the phone was unnecessarily rude and immediately dismissed my request, assuming I was trying to sell something. It was clear they weren't willing to even listen. Shared parking lot in the back that's nearly full around lunchtime, so you may need to park on the street. Clean interior with seating indoors only. You can beat the line if you come before noon. It'll get a little noisy as customers start trickling in. The staff do not wear masks, and hand sanitizer is available by checkout counter. The staff member that took our order was friendly and gave recommendations to those who weren't sure. Fountain drinks and water are self-serve. The platters are served in to-go containers, so it's relatively easy to pack any leftovers; you just need to ask the staff for a lid. The prices are reasonable, and you can try a variety of food with the platters. I ordered the chicken kabob platter - big, tender pieces of chicken meat but not flavorful enough. The tzatziki sauce definitely helped. The pita was thin but not too soft, which was good for dipping into the hummus. The hummus had a light flavor, neither the best nor worst I've had. The salad was fresh, and the yellow rice was soft. I also got a side of falafels, which come down to about $1/piece. The falafels were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. New spot in East Sacramento that looks like it is taking residence in a former Subway. Not sure if that's the case, but the interior design and counter with ingredients definitely looks like it. Not a bad thing, but my immediate observation! I was like "did I walk into the wrong place?" Luckily for me, I didn't! Aside from that, my first notice was the employee behind the counter was pretty nice. He brought my meals to my table (my first being for there, and second being to go for later), and replied "thank you!" with every "thank you" I gave. And I give a LOT of "thank you"s to our service workers. Almost too many. But these were the first observations. Former Subway location, courteous employees. Food was great and affordable, too! I opted for the beef/lamb gyro wrap combo with fries and a drink for there and I took a chicken sandwich back home for later. The wrap was a little thinner than you might find on your standard gyro wrap, but the portions were great and everything tasted awesome. The other employee making the wrap asked if I wanted it spicy as he made it. I definitely did, so I'm glad he asked! Also a good thing to ask for folks that don't like spice. I didn't eat my chicken burger fresh, and saved it for the next day, but I can confidently say that it still tasted great and was very easy to heat up again in my air fryer. Next time I may try it there to compare. All in all, I got two meals with fries and a drink + tip for just a bit over $25 and everything was great. Not bad at all! There are a lot of comparable spots in the area so I'm not sure how frequently I'll make it to Mr. Falafel, but I'll certainly be recommending it to my friends in East Sac. read more

The chicken is sometimes like cut like from a gyro spit and sometimes it is like kabab cubes. I prefer the gyro style more but both are good. The gyro meat is consistently good. The kofta is good. I am writing this review from the restaurant table right now. It was on par with the best gyros I had in Greece. So excited to find some delicious food just a few minutes away from my office. This place is the real deal. The portion size is huge and I am stuffed. If you're in the area and pass this up, you are missing out.
