    Hibachi Steak Lunch Special
    Frank T.

This is by far my favorite Japanese restaurant in the Albany area. Why? Because of the following: 1.) Always fresh dishes and ingredients. 2.) Unbelievable deals especially at lunch. 2.) No frills low key quiet little area. All the great Japanese dishes including tatsu-age fried chicken. Hard to find establishments that can do this chicken like they do in Japan. Plus their sweet mayo dipping sauce is out of this world. All this at a great price. Their lunch specials are such a great deal and so much yummy food. My fav Japanese food stop.

I will be honest .. I took a star away because when I came in and asked about Mash Co (student discount ) The guy said yes and it was 15% off... Then when I went to pay, he said "We don't have it anymore".... LIKE WTF! Moving on .. The food was good, if I was a chicken lover, I probably would have loved it. However, I just wanted to try it because I saw it in many animes ‍ . Overall It wasn't the greatest like "Food Wars" (anime reference). Um but I'll try the sushi one day I guess ‍

Sushi is always fresh and very good. Have not ever eaten inside, but do takeout every few weeks or so.

First visit. Take out. Food was very good. They make you scan a QR code for take out, when the physical menu is right in front of you. Not a fan of that system.

The sushi was very good at Mr. Fuji. We settled on the "Boat for Two" because the individual roll price was a bit higher than most sushi restaurants. This meal came with a good amount of food. Came with 2 soups and 2 salads, which we upgraded to kani salad. The kani salad was very good. Sushi and sashimi was fresh and in a good variety. We would go back! Environment was clean, quiet, and well staffed.

This place is a wild experience--it was packed at 4:30pm on a Friday night. It's an "all you can…read moreeat" for a fixed price--they sit you down, you fill out what you want with an erasable marker on a menu, and the server brings it to you minutes later, then they erase what you've written on the menu, so that you can order more as you go. All the servers here support all the tables, it's a well-oiled machine that works like a beautifully choreographed symphony. I've never seen anything like it. The food was great, service was awesome, and overall the meal was affordable for everything we ate. We've tried a lot of sushi restaurants in the area but this is by far one of the best. We'll be back!

I have eaten here a few times before. What impressed me this time was the service. Our waiter was friendly and very attentive. He was always making sure that we had what we ordered and /or needed to order again. He also refilled our water on the regular. I tried a vodka mule cocktail this time. It was well balanced and tasty. The food itself was delicious and fresh tasting. We paced our selves ordering only much as we could eat in one order. Among my favorites were the passion roll, shrimp yakitori and mango tango. We ordered a lot of sashimi and it tasted fresh and most importantly we felt great afterwards. We finished our meal with green tea ice cream. It was a good experience overall.

No liquor license, so no sake, but lots and lots of bubble-tea. And almost no interaction with sushi chef (and no seating at sushi bar) - all orders are placed and paid for on one of two digital podiums. Oh, yeah. You are probably going to want to rub your waribashi together to break off any splinters or sharp edges. Not the best quality. Unfortunately, the food itself is also unremarkable. The sushi rice was very lightly seasoned. The nori wrap was so tiny on the nigiri tamago and unagi, there is no possibility that it could hold each piece together. Maybe the owner only allows the chef to use 1 sheet of nori each day. The ikura on the gunkenmaki didn't have that little "pop" when you bite on one, confirming the freshness. And the barely spicy salmon maki was partially minced salmon, with a bit too much non-salmon filler. I'm sure the college kids love this place. 2023 05 31. S14.

I usually like getting a "Salmon Lovers" from the place in Stuyvesant (Mr Fuji sushi) or Asian Tea House in Rensselaer. Asian tea house's salmon lovers is really good, but they are further away and it's like $28. Fuji sushi is more comparable in price to Oishi, but the salmon isn't as buttery and delicious. Pretty much every time I have ordered now from Oishi I'm extremely pleased with the salmon and have even tried a few more menu items. My husband loves the fried coconut shrimp on their app menu. The shrimp tempura roll is a bit overwhelming but also good. The salmon/avocado roll is also great.

I have four stars as the tables and chairs were a little worn and probably should be replaced. Five stars does not cover how great the food and performance Chef were. After the Chef set up the hibachi, the fun began! First he fried eggs for the Fried Rice. After he prepared the fried rice, he went to each table serving the steaming rice. Next he prepared a nice medley of vegetables. He served these as well. Before preparing the chicken, steak and shrimp, he entertained. He sang a little, smiled a lot, and used a toy pump gun to shoot Saki into the mouths of willing guests. It was well done and well received! Then he cooks the proteins. The large shrimp and steak were my favorites. Chef circulates offering the signature Japanese steakhouse condiment: Yum Yum Sauce known for its great flavor. Chef refills the pump gun with water and entertains young guests. We were clapping and cheering. He paid special attention to the guest of honor, the grad. (My grandson) very nice! Then Chef gives us a fire display and some juggling tricks. More laughing and cheering. Chef passed out take home containers if needed. Without me asking, Chef gave me the Yum Yum Sauce to take home. Lots of compliments to hosts on the quality of the food. The cost per person is substantial BUT worth every dollar. In fact, my SIL gave Chef a generous extra TIP to thank him. Check out a few photos to get a feel for the experience.

When we entered there was no host at the counter, we were just standing there for a minute or two before we started searching for someone. Finally, a lady came out the back kitchen and seated us. We just wanted a small lunch since we were planning on picking up food from Che Figata later that evening. Well, I guess there is no regular menu only the all you can eat buffet menu ($28 each)? The way it works is there is actually no buffet at all, you must place an order for items on the buffet menu then wait for the food to be delivered. If you're still hungry and want more you need to place another order. On one hand, your food would be fresh and not sitting out on a buffet; alternatively, most people will fill up before their second or third item arrives. Something to note is you can only order 2 pieces of sushi or sashimi per order, and one sushi roll per order. It wasn't too busy; however, customers that were already seated were just twiddling their thumbs waiting for more food to arrive and there was only one server and she didn't look like much of a go-getter. After about 5-minutes of waiting around for something to happen we decided it would be better if we got the hell out of there before we were stuck sitting around like everyone else. I guess this concept works as this restaurant does have good reviews, but I just didn't like the vibe and couldn't risk a potential bad experience on Mother's Day. Sorry Sushi Shine, we decided to go to Sawa Shushi Bistro instead and had a wonderful experience there.

It's a Taiwan-Asian fusion-inspired fast food chain but I was down for this. It's been more than a year since my last meal here. I chose Tonkotsu ramen, which is ramen in Japanese pork bone broth. Then, I needed to pick a protein which was shrimp and I asked for the meal to be extra spicy. It only took a few minutes. I could hear it being prepared in the kitchen. The young woman at the register was helpful and patient as I made my selection. Definitely convenient. The ramen was good. I got a lot of shrimp and I liked the little slices of fish cake with pink flower designs. The decor has undergone slight changes since I last visited. It seems there are better displays and more varieties of merch. It's still very clean, bright and cheerful. There are still plenty of young customers. Given its close proximity to SUNY Albany that should be no surprise. I liked the playlist, too. R & B and Hip Hop played in the background. Loud enough so that you could definitely hear it but low enough so that students who were dining--some in groups-- could comfortably hold conversations.
