Great food. Great service. Really nice atmosphere. They even let us bring our dogs inside.

Absolutely delicious sushi. This is a super cute and cozy restaurant; it looks like anyplace you would find in Japan. They even have a traditional Japanese style room in the back. Perfectly cozy for winter months, solid service, and delicious food. They let my guest and stay for three hours as we were getting caught up. Highly recommend for a wonderful lunch or cozy dinner.

Naruto roll with tuna- does not taste at all like tuna

Would give a 2.5 stars but rounding up to a 3 Today the sushi rolls were tasty and fresh tasting. Good Shumai- I love their sauce and yellow horseradish sauce in the corner. I always like their volcano salad but today it had barely any seaweed on the bottom and seemed to skimp on the fish being mainly crab which is unfortunate because this is the first time I tried the tuna dumplings- they are beautiful but were also mainly crab and painfully dry. It definitely needs a sauce or something to even hold the crab together. I was disappointed with this and won't order that again, I thought the thinly sliced tuna is lovely. Another thing is my first bite of the eel avocado roll I bit into a hard piece of avocado, likely part of the pit. **after several more pieces of this roll the hard avocado or pit is in each piece - :( Also if I had a quarter of a teaspoon of wasabi I'd say that's even an exaggeration. Sushi tei is hit or miss and that's unfortunate. Could use a consistently good sushi place in the area.

Waitress was really nice, fish was fresh and tasty, steak was a little closer to well done than the medium I asked for, will go for med rare next time. could use a little more seasoning but really good dipped in soy sauce. Thanks for the nice birthday dinner experience! Drinks were great too

Looking through my camera roll it's amazing how much I love Sushi Tei. Such creativity, so much color, such amazing flavor. We're always treated like family regardless of which day or what time we show up. There's easy parking in the plaza. It's our default restaurant for quote "should we go out for a meal?". During Covid this was the restaurant we picked to support because if only one restaurant survived in Albany, this was the one we wanted. It's amazing how they have doubled in size, built the tatami room, and decorated the interior. I was happy to see that they were fully booked for dinner as they have been over the decades. Their take out queue was quite deep as well. It's nice to know that others recognize the gem that this is.

It was a bit busy during my visit so it took a minute for all the food to be brought out, but the wait was worth it! It was so delicious and all of it was very filling! The decor is also so cool and authentic! the music choice made everything totally immersive! The staff was also super friendly and nice!

So I should update my review. Since my last review, the owner reached out and helped get things squared away with the double charge so I do appreciate it. It did take quite some time to get it fixed but I am just glad it is done. Again, the food isn't bad, service isn't bad, place is clean. Prices for the dishes were reasonable. I just had a bad experience at the payment stage.

Located in a small strip of stores. There is enough parking. Everything we had was so good. The vegetable gyoza, the dinner box that comes with fruit, appetizer (spring roll) seaweed salad ( so good) miso soup and 2 rolls from a list to choose from and the tei roll. Everything was so good. I'll definitely be back once I'm in town again.

INCREDIBLE ON SO MANY LEVELS! Came to NY to celebrate my nephews (2) graduations. We were feeling a need for Sushi and boy did they deliver!! Quaint restaurant tucked in the back, Great vibe, good music, Just an overall great feeling! Now the food, DELICIOUS! FRESH! FLAVOR INSANE! From apps to dessert, it went above and beyond expectations! Staff incredible and very attentive to your needs! HIGHY RECOMMEND!!

Black spots in the avocado. Quality is slipping.
    Sparky T.

Downgrading my rating of Sushi Tei due to an apparent decline in quality. Our recent delivery order included several sushi rolls that had bad quality avocado - black spots. This is not something that would pass muster here in the past.

They told us that they ran out completely even though we got there right at dinner service (6pm). They told us approximately at 6:20 pm, and their dinner service ends at 9. After asking for a manager, the manager said they didn't actually run out but is putting a limit on us because they want to make sure they have enough to feed the rest of the restaurant till the end of the night. Even though we had only ordered 2 plates of salmon sashimi. AND THEN they had the audacity to offer 10% off. They also kept making excuses as to why they can't serve us sashimi. They mentioned that we should've called in a reservation ahead of time so they would have enough stock. It seemed that they kept pushing responsibility on us, the customers. As an AYCE sushi restaurant, I couldn't understand how they could limit their most popular option to paying customers. On top of that sushi was not fresh, the tuna was two different colors, the masago was slimy, the fish was warm. The servers were nice and service was fast, but food quality and management was pretty poor with the way they handled everything.

If you are looking for some really good sushi for a reasonable price at lunch time, Tengu Asian Bistro is definitely a place to check out. I go to Tengu Asian Bistro pretty frequently for their 3 roll lunch combo. This past time I ordered a shrimp tempura roll, spicy tuna roll, and a Philadelphia roll. The Philadelphia roll here is probably one of my favorite versions of the roll. I've ordered sushi from many places and this still holds up as either my number 1 or number 2. The spicy tuna roll again is excellent with great flavor and a good amount of crunch from the tempura flakes. The Shrimp tempura is another roll I always struggle to not order since it is quite good. I've also ordered the spicy salmon and eel avocado rolls here before among others, and they are all really great. The 3 roll lunch combo comes with your choice of either a side salad or miso soup. I prefer the salad which has an awesome dressing that comes with it, but the miso soup is also very good. Overall, I would highly recommend trying Tengu Asian Bistro if you are a fan of sushi and are looking for something to eat for lunch!

No liquor license, so no sake, but lots and lots of bubble-tea. And almost no interaction with sushi chef (and no seating at sushi bar) - all orders are placed and paid for on one of two digital podiums. Oh, yeah. You are probably going to want to rub your waribashi together to break off any splinters or sharp edges. Not the best quality. Unfortunately, the food itself is also unremarkable. The sushi rice was very lightly seasoned. The nori wrap was so tiny on the nigiri tamago and unagi, there is no possibility that it could hold each piece together. Maybe the owner only allows the chef to use 1 sheet of nori each day. The ikura on the gunkenmaki didn't have that little "pop" when you bite on one, confirming the freshness. And the barely spicy salmon maki was partially minced salmon, with a bit too much non-salmon filler. I'm sure the college kids love this place. 2023 05 31. S14.

Pretty much every time I have ordered now from Oishi I'm extremely pleased with the salmon and have even tried a few more menu items. My husband loves the fried coconut shrimp on their app menu. The shrimp tempura roll is a bit overwhelming but also good. The salmon/avocado roll is also great.

When we entered there was no host at the counter, we were just standing there for a minute or two before we started searching for someone. Finally, a lady came out the back kitchen and seated us. We just wanted a small lunch since we were planning on picking up food from Che Figata later that evening. Well, I guess there is no regular menu only the all you can eat buffet menu ($28 each)? The way it works is there is actually no buffet at all, you must place an order for items on the buffet menu then wait for the food to be delivered. If you're still hungry and want more you need to place another order. On one hand, your food would be fresh and not sitting out on a buffet; alternatively, most people will fill up before their second or third item arrives. Something to note is you can only order 2 pieces of sushi or sashimi per order, and one sushi roll per order. It wasn't too busy; however, customers that were already seated were just twiddling their thumbs waiting for more food to arrive and there was only one server and she didn't look like much of a go-getter. After about 5-minutes of waiting around for something to happen we decided it would be better if we got the hell out of there before we were stuck sitting around like everyone else. I guess this concept works as this restaurant does have good reviews, but I just didn't like the vibe and couldn't risk a potential bad experience on Mother's Day. Sorry Sushi Shine, we decided to go to Sawa Shushi Bistro instead and had a wonderful experience there.
