When we entered there was no host at the counter, we were just standing there for a minute or two before we started searching for someone. Finally, a lady came out the back kitchen and seated us. We just wanted a small lunch since we were planning on picking up food from Che Figata later that evening. Well, I guess there is no regular menu only the all you can eat buffet menu ($28 each)? The way it works is there is actually no buffet at all, you must place an order for items on the buffet menu then wait for the food to be delivered. If you're still hungry and want more you need to place another order. On one hand, your food would be fresh and not sitting out on a buffet; alternatively, most people will fill up before their second or third item arrives. Something to note is you can only order 2 pieces of sushi or sashimi per order, and one sushi roll per order. It wasn't too busy; however, customers that were already seated were just twiddling their thumbs waiting for more food to arrive and there was only one server and she didn't look like much of a go-getter. After about 5-minutes of waiting around for something to happen we decided it would be better if we got the hell out of there before we were stuck sitting around like everyone else. I guess this concept works as this restaurant does have good reviews, but I just didn't like the vibe and couldn't risk a potential bad experience on Mother's Day. Sorry Sushi Shine, we decided to go to Sawa Shushi Bistro instead and had a wonderful experience there.

The beauty of this Omakase experience is that it's perfect for a girls night out, a romantic date night a group outing and everything in between. Both times we had the 12 course omakase and each time the experience was nothing short of incredible. To start, the restaurant is located in the basement of a brewery so it feels a little sneaky (in a fun) way as you enter. Inside there's a speakeasy atmosphere and in my opinion, perfectly charming. As soon as you enter, you are greeted and if a bit early have the option to grab a drink before the service begins. All meals are timed to last 1 hour and the chefs do an incredible job of getting through the service on time without making the experience seem rushed. You are also offered the chance to order à la carte which my husband took full advantage and ordered the house special "Big Mac". Truly a great dining experience in the Capital region.

On only my second visit, I was recognized as a repeat customer by one of the staff with whom I had a great conversation on my first visit! Even though it's a splurgy place to go with friends, I have dined solo both times and had a wonderful time talking with the staff and other diners. I plan to return when I can!

I'm glad I did because this place turned out to be a hidden gem. The restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere that's clean, cozy, and perfect for either a casual lunch or dinner with friends. The service was friendly, and the sake was the perfect complement to the meal. I ordered the Vegetable Pad Thai and a Cucumber Roll, while my friend chose the General Tso's Chicken. If I'm being completely honest, my friend's dish stole the show. The chicken was perfectly crispy, coated in a flavorful sauce with just the right balance of sweet and savory, and paired wonderfully with the rice and broccoli. My Vegetable Pad Thai was fresh and satisfying, but I would have loved just a little more sauce to really bring all the flavors together. The Cucumber Roll was light, refreshing, and a nice contrast to the richer entrées. Overall, this was a great dining experience. Between the inviting atmosphere, flavorful food, and relaxing vibe, Tomo Asian Bistro is definitely worth checking out if you're in the Slingerlands area. I'll absolutely be back to explore more of the menu.

This place is a wild experience--it was packed at 4:30pm on a Friday night. It's an "all you can…read moreeat" for a fixed price--they sit you down, you fill out what you want with an erasable marker on a menu, and the server brings it to you minutes later, then they erase what you've written on the menu, so that you can order more as you go. All the servers here support all the tables, it's a well-oiled machine that works like a beautifully choreographed symphony. I've never seen anything like it. The food was great, service was awesome, and overall the meal was affordable for everything we ate. We've tried a lot of sushi restaurants in the area but this is by far one of the best. We'll be back!

I have eaten here a few times before. What impressed me this time was the service. Our waiter was friendly and very attentive. He was always making sure that we had what we ordered and /or needed to order again. He also refilled our water on the regular. I tried a vodka mule cocktail this time. It was well balanced and tasty. The food itself was delicious and fresh tasting. We paced our selves ordering only much as we could eat in one order. Among my favorites were the passion roll, shrimp yakitori and mango tango. We ordered a lot of sashimi and it tasted fresh and most importantly we felt great afterwards. We finished our meal with green tea ice cream. It was a good experience overall.

They also do the birthday singing with a portable round drum. Kind of corny but the people liked it. Menu was large with a lot to offer. I ordered off the hibachi menu and was surprised at the amount of food they out on the plate. Taste was good for what we ate. I have four stars as the tables and chairs were a little worn and probably should be replaced. Waitress kept coming around and grabbing our plates as we finished, found it to be a little annoying as they would take the plates just as we finished them. At one point we told them to stop and leave us alone.

Five stars does not cover how great the food and performance Chef were. After the Chef set up the hibachi, the fun began! First he fried eggs for the Fried Rice. After he prepared the fried rice, he went to each table serving the steaming rice. Next he prepared a nice medley of vegetables. He served these as well. Before preparing the chicken, steak and shrimp, he entertained. He sang a little, smiled a lot, and used a toy pump gun to shoot Saki into the mouths of willing guests. It was well done and well received! Then he cooks the proteins. The large shrimp and steak were my favorites. Chef circulates offering the signature Japanese steakhouse condiment: Yum Yum Sauce known for its great flavor. Chef refills the pump gun with water and entertains young guests. We were clapping and cheering. He paid special attention to the guest of honor, the grad. (My grandson) very nice! Then Chef gives us a fire display and some juggling tricks. More laughing and cheering. Chef passed out take home containers if needed. Without me asking, Chef gave me the Yum Yum Sauce to take home. Lots of compliments to hosts on the quality of the food. The cost per person is substantial BUT worth every dollar. In fact, my SIL gave Chef a generous extra TIP to thank him. Check out a few photos to get a feel for the experience.
