Came here really quick on a Monday afternoon. Good thing they had a open sign outside otherwise I would have thought this place was closed. Inside was so dark that it looked closed from the outside. As I walked in this lady came out to assist me. I asked her how much it was for 2 dozen and she said $18... In my head I was like, whoaaaa that's expensive as hell! So I asked her how much 15 donuts would be and she said around $15. It didn't look like she knew the exact pricing, I'm assuming she made up the number in her head. So I finally looked on the board and it said one dozen for $8.50. So I was just like, alright I'm going to get a dozen cause I'm scared she's going to overcharge me for donuts. Sad they didn't have anymore maple, she said they sold out.. Boo. The lady looked extremely miserable and she wasn't the nicest person to talk to. There are other donut places where the workers greet you and talk to you in a nice and humbling voice. She just seemed cranky. This little donut shop is hidden in a strip mall - I wouldn't have noticed it if I wasn't a donut addict. I got there around 3:30 so I think most of the donuts had been picked over. I had an apple fritter and a chocolate cake donut. Yes, I ate TWO. The apple fritter was very good and hit the spot. The chocolate donut was just ok or a bit below ok. I want to start off my saying that both my sister and I have been coming here since we were babies because we grew up 2 blocks from it. Donuts are good but recently, their service has really gone down the toilet. If you want good service and delicious donuts, go to KC Donuts in San Gabriel. They happily filled my order over the phone, immediately after walking out of this godforsaken place. Story #1-A while back, my sister who is a teacher went in to purchase donuts for her classroom and was told that her order was, "too big" and that they wouldn't be able to sell her 2 dozen donuts. Because she needed to get to work, she said thank you and left, but called me right after to share her crappy service story at Mr Good's. I gave Mr. Good's the benefit of the doubt and told her that they maybe didn't have enough to fulfill her order and left it at that. Story #2- My husband went in one morning at 6am to buy donuts for his coworkers and was told he wouldn't be able to purchase donuts. When my husband asked why, the owner said that if she filled his order, there wouldn't be enough donuts for the rest of her customers. Guys, he was asking for a dozen and 1/2. She clearly had enough to complete the order but refused. My husband came home that day and shared what had happened to him and I mentioned that the same thing had happened to my sister! AGAIN, BECAUSE THIS IS MY CHILDHOOD DONUT SHOP, I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Mind you, my husband hasn't set foot in that place ever since. Story #3-I needed 3 dozen donuts for a church event, so I went in to see if they could: a)give me a better deal b)inform them that I'd be needing a somewhat large order They weren't able to give me a better deal which is fine, whatever-but when I called back before 6pm (their close time) to let them know I'd be in the next morning to pick up the original 3 dozen, no one answered. I thought you closed at 6pm? That's what your sign says... The next day, I walked in at 5:50am and asked for 3 dozen donuts. The owner looked at me like I was robbing the place. I asked again, politely, if she could please box up 3 dozen donuts. In a very rude tone, she said, "No, that's too many! I won't have any left for my customers!" HELLO! WHAT AM I????? *ding* *ding* *ding* You guessed it, A CUSTOMER!!!! Then with complete disregard, she proceeded to hide behind the counter, making pink donut boxes. I couldn't believe what was happening. HELLO? Excuse me? There were enough donuts behind the counter to fill my order and still have enough for "her customers." I was fuming, but because I was raised to always be respectful to my elders, I kept my cool. Holding my hand up to my knee, I told her, "I've been coming here since I was this little (!!!!) *points to knee* and the fact that you won't fill my order, really breaks my heart because I've been such a loyal customer, but this is the last time you see me in here!" and I left. Been coming here since I was a tiny kid! This place has always been the go-to donuts shop for my family. It all started when my dad brought him a dozen donuts and I was dazzled by all the color of the sprinkles in a round donuts. As I grew older, I became more into the sugar donuts, then the glazed. Then I discover the peanut butter bars and then the croissants . The croissants here are always hot and fresh. So fluffy! In my recent years, my love has balanced off staying with the cream cheese croissants and ham and cheese. Price is a bit higher than it used to be but donuts have never been an overpriced item... at least around the San Gabriel Valley area. Parking lot may not be big but there's always parking. The family who owns the place are very friendly. Orange juice, chocolate milk, and fresh brewed coffee served. They have several tables inside in case you want to sit and eat your donuts. read more

Yesterday afternoon (Wed), I got lost driving around the neighborhood and stumbled on this unassuming, small coffee/donut shop in an unassuming small plaza. It had several large wooden tables by picture windows with a view of the parking lot. This small place was rustic but clean, bright, and quite comfortable with a mom-n-pop type of atmosphere. The front staff (two) were very friendly and helpful. Its coffee was pretty good, even to an addict like me of Starbucks and Coffee Bean. The arrays of donuts there looked gorgeous and tempting. I asked the friendly, pleasant, young man at the register for a "chocolate covered, lemon custard-filled donut". He apologized that it was sold sold out and recommended one of their customer's favorites, the "chocolate twist". Well, I am really not much of a donuts fan (well, not much beyond lemon-filled ones anyway), so I decided to pass and just enjoy my hot coffee. During my 20min at Mr. Good's that afternoon, I saw several customers getting their donuts; 2 of them carried out a box of 12. Based on the way they talked to the shop staff, they must be the regulars. I guess that was a sign that their donuts must be pretty good, too! Oh yes, Mr. Good's serves juices, sandwiches, croissants, too. BTW: NO free WiFi here: - That's probably why I didn't see many students parked themselves by the tables with their laptops here. Came here Friday morning to grab a dozen donuts for coworkers birthday. The glazed donuts were all light, fluffy, and yummy! I had a 1/4 of three different ones and it made me want even more. Did not feel heavy at all. This will be my go to place from now on. Maple bar - the donut itself was light and fluffy, just how I like them. The glaze was okay, I expected it to be more maple flavored. Chocolate twist - Same as maple bar, light and fluffy, chocolate glaze was lacking some chocolate flavor but still good. Raspberry filled - YUM! I didn't grab too much filling, just enough for a tangy sweet kick. Sprinkles - not a fan of the cake like dense donuts so it was okay for me. I have lived in the SGV for a long time, so I'm pretty used to bad service. It just comes with the territory. But the older woman at this place really takes the cake when it comes to rudeness. I came here looking for a donut this morning, since there are so many Yelpers that rave about this place. But when I went in, there was NOBODY working at the counter for a good 5 minutes. When I finally got someone to help me, it was an older lady. I asked her what was fresh, and she proceeded to give me the useless answer of "everything." But here's the kicker: she then proceeded to mock me in Chinese (which I can speak and understand!) to some guy who was sitting at a table nearby. Needless to say, I walked out immediately. Wow. Stopped here to pick up donuts for a business meeting down the street. I'm not from the area, but saw this in my travels, looked at the reviews on yelp, and decided to stop in. I asked for a dozen (only $7.50) and the lady at the counter picked out her favorite assortment....and then gave me one extra donut as a bonus! Holy moly the donuts were so fluffy and fresh! I tasted the cinnamon twist and the glazed donut and had a love affair with both of them. I enjoyed that they weren't dense and heavy- and therefore, didn't totally weigh you down or make your stomach upset. The rest of the donuts were gone within minutes- a huge success at our meeting. WARNING to all customers! Avoid this place! Here's the story: I been in the Alhambra area for a while and was staying a block away from this place. One morning for breakfast I decide to go buy two ham and cheese croissants for my breakfast and lunch. I took bites and noticed a slight bitter taste at first and it became stronger with every bite. It was accompanied by a very toxic chemical smell. I call them to warn them about the issue and the man, who seem to speak very little English, agreed to give me a refund. I had suggested that they may have made a bad batch and to take them off the shelves. I then stop by the store a few hours later and talk the lady employee at the store. She asks why I ate half the croissant with an attitude. Keep in mind I ate half of one croissant and I bought two. I tell her the situation and that I talked to the man and she cuts me off and agrees to refund me. After the refund she apologizes insincerely and as I walk away she complains about the half eaten croissant again. So I was about to explain myself and she waves me off. I understand that every business makes mistakes, but if youre a business that puts harmful chemicals in the food then own up to it. People can get ill and they don't seem to be taking the situation seriously. At least have some respect when a customer tells you what happened instead of treating them like crooks. read more

Mr. Good's is above average! All cake donuts are REALLY cake-like and their apple fritter is amazing. Crumb donuts are definitely up to snuff and the jelly is quite breathtaking. The staff is adorable and sweet and attentive. The shop is spacious and clean; the donut lady was quite receptive. The selection at the time I went was kind of lean but was much larger than expected! NOTE: the donuts seem to be trying to pack as much batter into each donut as possible. An admirable effort but that's not the rubric by which donuts are judged by. Also, 7.50 - 8 for a dozen donuts. I always used to think that it was below me to go to donut shops, but I have issues, so... Anyway, let me get to the donuts. The plain glazed donut was fresh, like, fraysh. Bear claw was amazing- it had crunchy apples on the inside that didn't taste artificial like most apple fillings can taste. I also got a chocolate croissant to test whether what they say about diabetes type 2 is true. I loved the croissant portion but the chocolate sauce on top was weird. It didn't taste like chocolate or chocolate sauce made from cocoa powder. There is no chocolate on the inside, but by the time you're eating it, you'll be enjoying the croissant so much, you don't care. I am a big fan of the croissant part though- can't stress that enough. The best part of all? Customer service and attention to detail. The young lady working at the counter noticed that my glazed donut had chocolate sauce on it, so she got me a brand new shiny one. Came here for the first time today to get my donut fix after not having one for awhile. It was empty except for one woman that was seated at a table reading the paper. While shes doing that another guy comes in asks her for two items and she serves him and rings him up before us. Rude but whatever. Bite into my croissant. Just bread. Bite in again. Just bread. I open up the croissant and see nothing but bread. Go back and tell her there is no ham or cheese in my croissant. Very rudely she said "This is heavy, r u kidding me?". I don't know what happen to this place, either the husband and wife are getting ready to retire, sell the place, or what? This has been a great mom and pop donut place to visit. But for this pass year the variety of donuts displayed are very lacking. I have noticed when I have gone in, weather it's at 5 am or 6 am or 10 am, the variety is the same, donuts you can buy at 7-11 (chocolate/sugar glaze, cinnamon rolls, crumb, and twists, that's it. I know there can not be that many people buying all of the other variety of donuts in this area. It's been nice going in there and being greeted with a nice, "good morning", but things are going down hill as the variety goes and it's sad. Hopefully things will change read more

Been here only a couple times. First time on a late Sunday morning. A younger man helped out, who was nice and had good customer service. Still had a decent amount of donuts and still tasted fresh. Second time, was on a weekday where a older woman helped. Waited for at least 5 mins to be helped out despite no one else being there. However, during the wait heard her make a loud enough sound of spitting in the back...not so sanitary...then when she proceeded to help me she opened a bag with her bare hands, given she just spit in the back and I have no idea where her hands have been. She probably saw the look on my face and ended up changing the bag, opening it with some tongs this time. 2 stars only because the first visit was good customer service and donuts were pretty good but could be more aware of better sanitary strategies. read more

Great and fresh donuts early Saturday morning. A dozen for $9, although their menu states a dozen starts at $8.50. I dealt with the older Asian lady. She seemed pissed at me because I wasn't ordering quickly enough. In my defense, she was walking slowly to the boxes after I stated I wanted to order a dozen. Been here many times before, stopped by there this morning to get my ussual glazed buttermilk donut. I handed the lady a dollar bill and she pulled back the bag with the donut an said it's a $1.20. I told her that wasn't what her menu said. She told me she couldn't reach to change the price. I told her $1.20 is too much, I get the same donut at another shop for $.90. She gave me the donut for the dollar, but said next time $1.20, that is what everywhere charges or even more. I walk in there at 6:45am, there's only 3 people in the whole place already sitting and eating, with no one waiting to order donuts. I ask for THREE dozen, and the older lady behind the counter proceeds to put donuts into the first box. So I stop her and tell her I'd like to choose my own donuts, and she gives me this look as if I had shit on the counter or something. I start telling her what I want...4 of this, 3 of this, 2 of this...and she's got this stink look on her face like I'm bothering her with every order I give. Then I stop and ask her: how many do I have already? She then begins to scold and yell at me telling me that I have 3 dozen and if I choose my own it will take a long time..........what the? Are you serious? I kept telling her all I want to know is how many I have already...and she just kept referring to 3 dozen, 3 dozen, hitting the boxes with her tongs...some things she said I couldn't understand because of her accent but for some reason she just kept telling me how many I was ordering and how long it would take..blah blah blah....I couldn't believe this was happening and walked the hell out. I picked up 2 dozen donuts today for a morning meeting, and even requested more glazed rounds and twists, since people love them. The donuts look good and taste great. My personal favorites are the glazed twists, and the chocolate glazed yeast donuts, they're light and fluffy and yummy-- mmmmm. I haven't had the chance to try their croissants because they're always out when I stop by, but it's on my to-do list. Now, about the service. Let's talk about this a bit... I'll give everyone the same explanation that I've given my sister and other people who've gotten that attitude that everybody else that's given a low-star review has had. (with exception to the dude who said his whole office got the runs, I don't know what the hell happened there, I've never gotten the runs from the donuts...) First, I have to admit I like the mom and pop feel of this place, because it truly is a mom and pop place! I've met the son who seems like a really cool guy and have joked with him about getting "a talking to" from his mom when I picked up 2 or 3 dozen my first time. All it took was that one time to understand why she gets "ancy" about big orders (more than a dozen). I tried to not take the "scolding" personally, and instead asked her if I should call ahead next time. She said "yes, please... call" and then kindly made me the extra powdered donuts out of some plain ones (they only had 1 left) while continuing what turned out to be a pleasant conversation and how they operate. The reason people get a talking to from this woman is because she does in fact care a lot about her customers. I know that sounds like a contradiction but these things are not mutually exclusive. She explained how she, her husband, and son only make so many donuts and they only make them in the morning, along with the other sweet and savory pastries they have and the special orders for the day. They have a small prep area so they start really early, like "burning the midnight oil" kind of hours to get everything going and done in time. The regular customers that have been going in since the beginning start coming in right at 5am and she knows them on a first name basis and knows their orders by heart. I've witnessed it when having to go pickup orders for my daughters to take to school. After understanding this and seeing it I get why she gets upset when someone drops by and orders 2 or more dozens of donuts. It's because she's wants to make sure she has enough for her regulars, since they only make so many. And the whole choosing donuts thing, I'm guessing she gets ancy if she has regulars waiting so she'd rather pack you a standard mix. But if you want to pick and choose, be ready with what you want. I mean see it from her perspective she's packing 12, sometimes 24 or more donuts for a walk-in order and it's eating away at her fixed number of 100 or whatever amount they made that day. Then to top it off she has a regular customer who she knows is on their way to work, but she can't fill his order because she's listening to the "ummm, hmmm, and ughhhh's" that we "picker/choosers" make while looking at the donuts in the display case (yes, I'm a picker chooser most of the time too!) And even if there wasn't someone waiting, remember that you're already on her bad side for not calling the order in before, but of course you didn't know you had to so it's not exactly your fault either. I just have to emphasize that she gets in that mood when it's big orders, or special orders. But if you go in and get a quick mix of 1 dozen, no worries they anticipate that. What they don't anticipate is the "i want 3 dozen, starting with 3 cake crumb, 4 glazed... but only twists though, and ummmmm .... how many is that?.... yeah chocolate glazed twist, the round one... etc. etc." type of orders. And the reviewers that had problems with the "with room" dilemma... really? You're going to take issue with a elderly woman for not keeping up with the the starbucks lingo? Geeze, just take a step back and realize that not everyone's gonna understand every single thing that comes out of your mouth. Oh and the non-dairy creamer... okay, so I looked up the LA County Public Health Food Code on this one and it's tricky. I don't think they're violating any health codes because it's a non-dairy product that is out for facilitating a "food-line" for the preparation of a beverage, and doesn't exceed more than 2 hours out of the required 41 degree or 45 degree temperature requirements. That's assuming that they in fact return it to the fridge after a certain period, and discard it after 12 hours. Furthermore, all this is under the presumption that non-dairy creamer is classified as a "potentially hazardous food", I don't know if it is...-- though it probably is. Non-dairy products can definitely go bad, but depending on the ingredients used, they usually last longer than regular Grade A milk products. But anyway, I'll get off my soapbox now. read more

I go to this place atleast once a month, I guess that's not good enough. So I got to the dounut shop right after I droped off my son from school which is pretty early right, wrong I asked the lady for a ham and cheese croissant, she said were all out, so I look where they usually keep them and what do I see a whole try with about 6-7 ham and cheese croissants.
